Half-Life has finally concluded-ish

Does that count as a clickbait title? This probably isn’t a “conclusion”, but I honestly can’t think of any other word that fits.

Marc Laidlaw, the lead writer for the Half-Life series, just posted what is essentially the plot for the third episode of Half-Life 2, and possibly the finale of Half-Life. If Searching for Half-Life 3 is any true, there were no indications or plans of having a real Half-Life 3, so this would likely be the finale of the series.

While originally hosted on Laidlaw’s personal site, it has since gone down due to a MASSIVE influx of traffic, so someone has thankfully hosted it on Github along with a handy translation.

Is this canon? Who knows. If the infinitesimally miniscule possibilities come true and Episode 3 comes out, will this be the plot? Who knows. Is Marc posting this out of spite or rebellion? Who knows.

What we do know is that, for some time, this will probably be the only conclusion that Gordon Freeman’s adventures will have. And, at the very least, there’s something bittersweet about finally having something to close the book on. It could’ve been better, or smoother. But, well, it’s here.

RDC states that Xiahou Yuan was her father, meaning Ba was the brother but other sources like these translations insist she is Yuan’s niece. But yeah, either way around it Zhang Fei stole a 14 year old from her home, forced her into marriage and raped her. And no, rape was not legal or accepted in Han China either so don’t bother going to that pathetic defense.

Zhang Fei defenders are the worst. They only stick up for him because they like the fictional version - despite even the fiction Zhang Fei being a violent, abusive drunk.
