Review #1 - WoolCity Minecraft Server; A City of Wool?
There are not many people who can build a city completely out of wool. Trust me, I have tried. Most of the time, it just looks like a jumbled mess of colors and vomit. However, WoolCity seems to pull it off without making it a complete trainwreck.
From the minute I arrived on the server, the staff immediately greeted me. Though I couldn't speak to thank them, I did feel very welcomed. Another thing I appreciated was the tutorial for the newcomers of the server. The chat was sort of spammy, which is not too bad, because there IS an option to change channels if you feel that you need too. Not too shabby. The tutorial was well thought out, well organized, and professional until the end, when I ran into a room full of nothing but blank signs and a skull or two. That was either supposed to be a fashion statement or a complete lack in caring. Right outside the sign room, there was a completely empty room titled, "Jobs/Tasks". What is up with that? Has everyone in the city taken up all of the jobs?
Besides the minor faults, I want to praise the person who made the signs intelligible and simple, they're perfect for anyone! The entire city, from the ground up, is, unarguably creative. However, my problem with the subway - there are no carts. Yes, it's creative, and people can just GET carts out of their inventory (which I did), but people are getting lazier and lazier everyday. I would recommend a dispenser with carts, and a button to push. Very simple, and easy to refill. It's not hard to do!
There is a large, white structure in the heart of the city. What even is it? I walked all through it, and the only entrance is what seemed like a balcony for everybody else. Was this building a home? An office space? Condo? Apartment? No labels at all! Maybe the building could have been for sale! I don't know, no labels!
Now, as a pokemon enthusiast, I was thrilled to see a giant Pikachu pixel art! As a critic reviewing a city server, I was not as enthralled. I mean, I suppose it could be seen as a "statue", but let's be realistic here. I love the pixel art personally, but it doesn't fit here. Yes, the structures are wool, and this is wool city, but it clashes with the ACTUAL city environment down below - it makes it seem jumbled and unorganized.
It's not easy to make a city comprised of mostly wool, but when it comes to this server, I'd say these guys did a pretty good job. If I were to rate this server, I would give it a 7.5/10, because the server is very well planned and thought out, minus the minor details of the clashy pixel art and missing mine carts.
