[ @princess-yolena ]
(Linnie jerks up at the frantic call, whipping his head around trying to locate Yolena. Upon failure to do so, he grumbles, summoning his sword to his side and traces back the magic of the call, teleporting to it's point of origin with a small flash of light,)
"Princess? I'm here, who or what is trying to hurt you?"
(He stands just behind Yolena, holding the crystalline sword in front of her and between whoever she is scared of, summoning a small orb of light to illuminate the dark room.)
(And if looks could kill...the intruder would be dead.)
*A single red rose appears out of thin air through a faint green magic glow that feels slightly off cold. The rose keeps hovering in the air and a paper appears with the following message:*
Hey,
it's been a very special day, that made me realize how much I love (to endure) your presence. Wish I could watch you spend eternity with me right now. Sooner or later, we shall be united! I'll always be there to catch you. Whether you currently want to hold me close or break my neck - I will wait for you. Don't keep me waiting! ;-)
Yours eternally,
Death
(@afkj-morgan)
[ @afkj-morgan ]
(Linnie stares at the rose and the note for a moment, slowly reaching out to read the message)
"Since when did I court a-"
(He reads the message, lowering it as he looks up in confusion, he seriously needs to get through reading all his old journals, answers are so desperately needed...)
"And since when did Death start sending valentines? Unfortunately I am going to have to keep him waiting. I am not done yet, sheesh. Does he not realise the amount of work I have left? Clearly not."
(He wafts his hand around the rose, making gently float to the nearest lone vase and carries on about sorting through his tasks with an exasperated expression)
[One particularly warm afternoon, the magenta stem of a new flowered friend pokes through a dry, scorched patch of the Mystical House garden. It unfurls three sunset plumes as it grows to a modest height.
A soil dusted envelope pokes through the soil along side it. Drying moss soft withers under the scorch and a faint sizzle can be heard as wet paper meets dry heat.]
[The writing inside almost looks more like scrawling roots, but with the willowy attention of an adult]
Magister 'Linnie’,
I hope this letter finds you at a good moment. If you are reading this, it should mean my fiery little friend made it as well.
A fire lily. A true fire lily, at that. It will have made itself at home in the most recently fire-touched patch of your garden. I trust this will not take long to surface with your daughter around. For that parched soil is where it thrives, and blooms—in the wake of flames.
I’ve learned my lesson from another little friend—the shared dilemma of the ‘Merlin amnesia’ is not to be taken lightly. Instead of sending something more…direct, I’m sharing something to help remind you.
Fire lilies earned their named through sun sparked blazes dry Mauler grasses—from which they rise, and bloom in the ashes. The Mirael of my home shares their resilience, and their namesake as an affectionate moniker.
To not forgetting what’s important to us, @magister-verdant
[ @magister-verdant ]
It's been a while since the garden has been tended too, but it seems like it's not necessary, maybe Dolly or Pandora had neatened the edges of the hedges and swept up the fallen leaves. Linnie shrugs, settling himself down on a nearby bench.
Then the flower appears, the letter beside it.
He fishes the letter away from the radiating flower with a small gasp, the heat a sudden but not entirely unwelcome surprise. Gently kneeling down somewhere not so dusty to read the contents.
He pauses at the last line, reading it over.
And over...
And over...
…and over...
…and-
"Thank you, Dad, I mean it, truly. I don't know where I would be without you..."
Linnie's smile wobbles, a small sniffle, gently reaching out to gaze upon the lily, it's warmth now familiar, a freeing sense of relief washes over him.
Someone else knows what it's really like, and by Dura does it bring him peace,
"To not forgetting what's important to us, Magister Verdant..."
My Little Phoenix...
Hey there! Long time no see! My business has been booming ever since I got involved with the Mithril Consortium’s sponsorship of the Astral Fair, and it’s all thanks to you!
Speaking of help… uh… you think you could help me sort my pack again… ?
-your favorite merchant, Phillip
"Oh Phillip! Good to see you and glad to hear you've been doing well!"
(Linnie shakes his head with a slight laugh)
"Oh alright, pass it here,"
(Linnie takes Phillips pack, empties it, organises the items and then repacks everything neatly)
"There you go. All nice and neat,"
"Oh, and what does the Great Merlin desire...?" 💕 - Mehira
"I don't think we have the time to entertain you, Mehira,"
(The puppet glares at the hypogean, unflinching)
"...I'd rather keep that to myself thank you..."
(Opal looks away hesitantly, rubbing their arm)
"Well...I would like to-"
(Linnie catches himself before he says too much)
"Nevermind..."
In an Archive... In a room with a familiar circular symbol etched into the wood of a door... A cosy room... decorated in warm autumnal colours. Magister Linnie's room... At the moment, he was reading, lounged on his bed.
A moments later... A slight movement could be seen from under the blanket... A mini version of... A familiar Magister with Long, silver wavy hair snuggling under the blanket...
A tag could be seen on his clothes...
This is a plush version of Magister Kafka !
I tried to make an experiment of it to observe whether the plush version of him also had side effects from traversing to another realm... Like... Him... I do hope to record the result after the receiver spends a bit of time with it and send it back...
~ The caretaker of Magister Kafka
The mini-Kafka opens his eyes and looks up at Magister Linnie from under the blanket, like how a cat does... blinking slowly, then closes his eyes, snuggling under the blanket.
(Linnie puts his book aside, shifting to an upright, seated position and watches Mini-Kafka for a moment before reading the tag)
"Huh, hi there little one,"
(Linnie smiles, about to pet the plushie on the head before deciding to tuck it in instead. He quickly and quietly goes to fetch me)
"-come look at this,"
"What is it? What's gotten you so-"
(Linnie shows me the small plushie taking a nap under the blanket. I take a quick look at Mini-Kafka and the tag on him)
"Oh...awwww... they sent this here? He's adorable! I'll tell the others leave the fellow alone,"
"He is does appear to be sweet. The only thing he's done so far is snuggle under there,"
"Ok yeah, I'm gonna go make sure they don't wanna pester this guy, I'll be back"
(I vanish from the room and leave Linnie gently stroking Mini-Kafka like a cat)
[ @kafka030 ]
As Magister Linnie tucked in mini-Kafka under the blanket, he blinked his eyes quickly and looked up at him. The warmth of the blanket truly was... soothing... It makes him become drowsy... again...
He closed his eyes and took a nap... There were some conversations between Magister Linnie and Author Ambrosia who went on infront of him. He did heard them and... understood them... however... remains silence...
As Author Ambrosia left Magister Linnie's room, and Magister Linnie suddenly stroked mini-Kafka... like a cat... He flinched a bit due to the sudden touch, eyes wide open then sighed. A soft hum comes out of him as if... like a purr from a cat.
Mini-Kafka only seeking warmth and... comfort... trying his best not to bother Mortals due to his... existence... His tiny hand patted Magister Linnie's hand softly and looked at him in silence...
"Oh hey easy...I didn't mean to spook you"
(Linnie eases up slightly on the pets, keeping his hand light, chuckling as Mini-Kafka begins to purr)
(He gives the plushie a tilted glance as they place a nubby hand on his)
"Do you want me to stop? Or keep going? Or...."
(Linnie hovers his hand over them, waiting on a response or sign of acknowledgement)
Mini-Kafka blinked his eyes slowly then sinking his tiny hand in his tiny pocket. He took out a tiny hair brush and gently placed it on Magister Linnie's palm. He gestured his hands to... Comb his long, wavy silver hair using that tiny brush... As if asking for Magister Linnie to do so for... him...
A moment passed and... Mini-Kafka became flustered at his tiny request. He silently crawled deeper into the blanket and covered his redden face.
He shouldn't have asked that... He thought... It's such an embarrassing request... Is there any abyss nearby for him to just... Dive into it..?
(Linnie takes a moment and then chuckles, taking the tiny brush with a warm smile)
"It's ok, you can come back out, I don't mind,"
(He reaches for Mini-Kafka with the brush and gently starting to comb it through the plushies silky hair, carefully tackling any tangles and smoothing it all out.)
"See? Is this nice?"
As Mini-Kafka slowly came out of the blanket... and Magister Linnie... Gently combed his hair... He nodded his head and sighed in satisfaction... He hummed... a familiar tune... and closed his eyes... Feeling ever so soothing when being combed... his long, wavy silver hair... been smoothened... gently...
A gentle breeze surrounded them... as suddenly... Some of the Seven-Petal Sapphirine Blossoms appeared on the bed... Those flowers are... quite rare... a symbol of miracles from The Duchy of Whiteridge...
Mini-Kafka blinked slowly as he slowly gathered it and... Placed it on Magister Linnie's lap... As a... Thank you gift... For combing his hair... He looked up at Magister Linnie and smile sheepishly... then sat on the bed in silence...
(Linnie smiles, gasping as the Sapphirine blossoms appear and are placed on his lap)
"I-Thank you..."
(Linnie gently lifts the flowers to his face, taking in their sweet scent, he closes his eyes, and sits there for a while, his brow scrunched up like he's trying not to think of something.)
(With s sniffle, he stands, taking the flowers are carefully arranging them in a vase he pulls out from a drawer in the room)
Mini-Kafka brows forrowed when looking at Magister Linnie... He sniffled... while arranging the Sapphirine Blossoms in a vase of his...
"Lin..." His voice cut off when he saw a blue portal appear in the corner of the room. A long, wavy silver hair Magister in A Miner Clothes, stepped out of the portal and inspected the room... With his lifeless... crimson red eyes... His gaze landed on Mini-Kafka... Causing Mini-Kafka to flinch and... Immediately hiding under the blanket.
As Mini-Kafka knew that... He was not his master...
He cleared his throat and... Imitate Magister Kafka's speech tone... "Good day... Magister Linnie... My apologies... For... Visiting you... Unannounced..." Magister Kafka bowed slightly and a brief pause, as he noticed Magister Linnie... was in sorrow... By looking at the... Sapphirine Blossoms...
"Do forgive me... Is My... little plush... troubles you..? Is there... Something in your mind... That you... would like to... share with me..?" He asked... softly... as he slowly walked towards the bed and... Gently lifting up the blanket... He saw... Mini-Kafka curled up under the blanket... Trembling... As if fear of his presence...
He sighed and ruffled his hair...
'Why do others fear me? I never had any desire to hurt others.' he thought... In his mind...
"Come out now... Little one... It's time to head home... I am... Ever so worried... about you... You had been... in another realm for... So long..." He kept his voice low and... Soft... However... Mini-Kafka remained under the blanket... Unmoved... As if he didn't listen to him.
(Linnie jumps at the appearance of the portal, muttering to himself that unless Ambrosia gave them access, they shouldn't be able to get here.)
"Ah, Magister Kafka? It's alright...I'm fine, please, the little guy has done nothing bad."
(He tilts his head slightly as the plushie shies away. He goes to pick mini-kafka up gently)
"What's wrong? Do you not want to leave?"
(He takes a few steps towards Kafka, struggling to keep a hold on the plushie)
"Kafka, have you any idea why he doesn't to want to go with you?"
As he saw Magister Linnie flinched at his sudden appearance in his room, he explained... Slowly... "Ahh... I must apologize... Yet again... For startling you... Miss Eva forgot to... give me the feathers... To visit you... As she was currently... hunting down the Hypofiends... I... Was ever so worried due to his absence... In the Mystical House of... Mine... Ended up using my... magic to open a portal... To your realm... When I finally... Pinned down my... little one's location..." ... then lowered his head as if a slight bow. He sighed in relief when Magister Linnie said that he was fine, and Mini-Kafka didn't bother him.
As Magister Linnie stepped closer to Magister Kafka... He swiftly plucked Magister Linnie's Monocle, wiped it and the corner of his eyes which were slightly teary with his handkerchief, then placed the Monocle back at Magister Linnie's eyes... without a single word.
Has it ever happened before..?
He then stared at Mini-Kafka as the plushie was... squirming in Magister Linnie's hands... Trying to climb up his shoulder, away from Magister Kafka. He pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a long sigh. "The little one... Might be sensing a turmoil... within me... He would be given a... lecture... after this... To not traverse into another realm... Without my consent..."
He slowly... and gently... Patted Mini-Kafka's head and he froze at the touch. "Come... Let's head back... to our Mystical House..." Mini-Kafka looked up at Magister Linnie with a frown.
"Huh- What- oh...thanks..."
(Linnie blinks away his surprise and gingerly brushes his fingers over his face, checking what wipes off and rubbing it away without so much as a second glance).
"Oh, yes, Ambrosia did hand some over..."
But that still doesn't answer the question...nor how you heard it...
(Mini-Kafka is very much acting like a cat to Linnie's dismay as the plushie keeps trying to scrabble over his shoulders, he finally grabs him and gently teases him off after the magister gives his miniature a pat on the head.)
"I see that look, but you should probably go back home. Especially since you seemed to have come here with telling anyone, even more so if you're making Eva freak out whilst trying to tackle some tough opponents... I wouldn't want her to explode on either of you, or get hurt,"
(Linnie tries to hand Kafka his mini plushie but the poor thing is now latching onto his arm)
"My pleasure... Magister Linnie..." He said, softly and gaze upon Magister Linnie for awhile, in silence, as Magister Linnie brushed his face gingerly. He nodded his head then blinked his eyes, slowly, observing Mini-Kafka behaviour in Magister Linnie's hands.
He lets out a long sigh after Magister Linnie gave out some truth statements and... Mini-Kafka flinched on Magister Linnie's arm. "What Magister Linnie said... Is true... I don't want... to hear Miss Eva... Scolding us both later... ... Little one... Let's head home... Please..? You know that... I couldn't stay... In another realm... For too long... ... I might... lose consciousness..."
Mini-Kafka in tears now... Sobbing. His brows furrow, as he gently patted his miniature version's back. Mini-Kafka... Slowly letting go of Magister Linnie's arm and he gently held it, like a cat. His tiny hands reached out for Magister Linnie as it whimpered. "Linnie... *sob* Linnie..." Mini-Kafka called out to him...
"Now, now... Let's head home... One day... We would meet him... again... Magister Linnie might have... Some errands to do... We should not prevent him... To do so..." He whispered and now, cradling Mini-Kafka, tapping his stomach lightly. He became slightly drowsy and wiped away the tears with his tiny palms.
He gaze upon Magister Linnie for awhile, as he memorising his features and noted the different hair colour from before. He closed his eyes and muttered a soft prayer in Ancient Language. "... Thank you... for taking care of... my little one... 'till we meet again... Magister Linnie..." He briefly bow and slowly step into the blue portal.
Mini-Kafka perked up and waved his tiny hand at Magister Linnie. "Bye-bye... Linnie..." His voice came out tiny, as he then continued to cry in his arms.
After they entered fully in the portal... It then, immediately closed, leaving Magister Linnie in his room, with some Sapphirine Blossoms that he arranged in his vase... which Mini-Kafka gave it to him, after the hair brushing session...
. . .
(Linnies smile doesn't quite reach his eyes as Kafka plucks his plushie off his arm, giving the weeping plushie a small pat on the head)
"Hey, it's ok, you can visit again another day. Just tell someone first alright?"
(He returns Kafkas bow)
"Of course, it was my pleasure, farewell,"
(Linnie sighs as the portal closes, picking up his book and placing it on the nearby desk, pulling out a journal, ink and quill, jotting down a few things about the visit. He pauses, putting the quill down.)
"Wait- doesn't Kafka have orange eyes?"
(He half jumps out of his chair)
"Ambrosia?!"

"Do you ever think of why you're here, magister Linnie? Why you were put in this situation? Your very nature and how it affects the people you hold dear"
"I have... I do wonder about that every now and then."
(Linnie shifts in his seat, leaning his elbows against the worn surface of the bar in the Mystical House)
"But I haven't quite got an answer. I feel- no- I know that there is something I am meant to do. I just can't remember it and no-one else who seems to know, is willing to tell me directly. Be that celestials, hypogeans or even the gods themselves."
(He adjusts his monocle, pushing it back up the bridge of his nose, crossing his arms and leaning back, his voice tinted with irritation)
"Not even...not even the others. Although, there's a nightmare I used to have frequently between saving the Dark Forest and leaving Rustport that I fear has something to do with it. It feels almost like a hint but also like an omen. Sometimes it changes, sometimes I am the victim, sometimes I am the observer but it always boils down to The Magister Supreme taking the life of the Merlin deemed a failure..."
(He shudders, a hand hovering, fingers splayed out, just over his heart, almost as if he couldn't bring himself to trace the imagined wound)
"As for why? To forever safeguard Esperia..."
(He almost sounds off. Like those words have come from someone else's mouth, or from several others' mouths, passed down over generations)
"But then how my nature affects those I hold dear? Well. That's just as cyclical as everything else I think. I have forgotten them time and time again. I must frustrate them to no end over it, even though I have at some point, told them my chronic amnesia is something I cannot control. There's three I can at least name...Mirael...Hogan and Dolly. No matter how hard they try, they can never hide those feelings from me. It's always evident in their eyes or how they stutter and correct themselves over things..."
(He sighs, pushing away from the bar and sliding off the stool)
"I wonder...just how many people I've inevitably hurt or betrayed because of the nature of the magic that causes my problems and all the suffering that comes with them."
(He walks away, leaving Anon alone by the bar)

"It is a local blend, yes, and an acquired taste to those who haven't drunk it before,"
(Linnie takes a long sip from his own tea before gently settling the cup down on its saucer)
"That's good to hear...Ah yes, the usual boring stuff, of course"
(He smiles, taking a biscuit)
"That sounds like a beautiful painting, Princess. What other things have you painted?"
“Oh, so many things! But what I have I painted recently…?”
“A field of sapphirines in Petalia Plains. A night sky over Cedartown, with the stars a little too close together, but I liked how it turned out…”
“And the sea, though I’ve never seen it myself.”
(She takes another sip of the tea, this time more slowly. Her brow furrows slightly.)
“This tea..."
"...tastes so different the second time!”
(Linnie smiles warmly)
"Those all sound beautiful. The Sapphirine covered fields are such a sight to behold. Ah right, Cedartown isn't the closest to any major ports...I hope one day you'll be able to see the sea,"
(He chuckles)
"It is an acquired taste, I did tell you, but you seem to like it which is a good thing. Now then would you like a-"
(He stops short as he reaches to offer the plate of biscuits, missing several of them. Linnie looks around, spotting a trail of crumbs going behind the sofa he is sat on)
"Now, I wonder, who could have... Chippy. How many times do I have to tell you to not nick food off of plates."
(The hamster familiar squeaks waddling out from behind the sofa)
"Now go help Hammie tidy up her room-" (Chippy starts to protest) "Now! Chippy."
(The hamster trudges up the stairs and Linnie gets up, dusting himself down and takes the plate, walking over to the bar.)
"I'll be back momentarily, just going to get some more of these if you'd like to try them, Your Highness..."
(He turns around to find an empty pair of sofas. He puts the plate down and starts to frantically look around in the immediate area)
"Yolena?! YOLENA!"
(Yolena’s eyes widen a little as Linnie reprimands Chippy) “The hamsters…have a room?”
“Oh, of course! I'll be...”
“…”
[When Linnie returns, the Princess has disappeared from her seat…]
[But there’s a familiar, chipper cry of “Princess!” coming from the direction Chippy had trudged off in, followed by the sound of boots across the floor somewhere farther off]
(Linnie runs in the direction of Chippy's voice acknowledging the hamsters gesture in helping him locate Yolena, but ignores the calls of concern following.)
(Where is she? Dura above she better be safe! I am NOT losing Mirael. If I do her bullies will have HELL to pay! No, not here, not by the garden, or by the greenhouse, or the test field.....?! Where is she?!)
(You need to find her Merlin!)
(Linnie stumbles as his curse triggers, pushing through the pain and the memory and the marred vision, desperate to locate the princess)
"Yolena!"
(He finds her at last, pulling her into a hug and turning on the spot so Linnie has his back to the direction Yolena was going)
"Don't run off like that again..."
(His voice is breathless as he pulls away, his eyes teary, one mixed with blood)
"I almost thought I'd lost you..."
(Again... Damn that hypogean.)
“I—” (She draws in a slow, steady breath, her surprise smoothing into something gentler. With the sort of careful patience expected of a princess, she returns the embrace briefly before easing back, her hands resting lightly against his arms.)
“I’m sorry, Magister—I didn’t mean to worry you.” (Over his shoulder, the faint shimmer of a glowing door beckons, curiosity sparking in her gaze.)
“…but… if it isn’t too much trouble…” (She glances back at him, a small, hopeful smile tugging at her lips.) “…could you show me the rest of the Mystical House?”
(Linnie shakes his head, chuckling slightly breathlessly, gently guiding the princess to a door back near the beginning of the hallway, opening it and letting her look inside.)
"You can have an hour in the library, and then unfortunately I might need to draw this visit to a close..."
(He sounds tired, unable to muster up the effort to hide it, trying to wipe away the reddish tears starting to drip down the left side of his face.)
"Please, don't worry about me, even though it looks alarming, this is something I can deal with. If you need any help I'll do my best, if not, I'm sure Dolly or Chippy and Hammie can..."
(Linnie takes his leave with a small bow.)
(Her smile wavers for just a moment at his words, the faintest crease touching her brow. But she smooths it away quickly, folding her hands neatly in her lap as though to anchor her composure.)
(She dips her head in a small, graceful nod, her smile softening with gratitude.)
“Thank you, Magister. An hour in a Merlin’s library will feel like a treasure hoard.”
(Her gaze lingers a moment longer on his face—the faint streak of red at his eye—and though she doesn’t press, her voice lowers into a careful kindness.)
“…And I promise not to cause you any more worry.”
[The next hour passes in a quiet flurry of delight—Yolena drifting from shelf to shelf, pulling volumes halfway out only to tuck them back again, lingering over gilded bindings and curious diagrams. Occasionally she pauses at a window to peer out at the impossible vastness of the house’s inner halls, or scribbles a quick sketch in the margin of her travel journal. When Linnie returns, she’s perched at a desk, paging carefully through a tome that looks far too heavy for her lap.]
“Oh! Magister Linnie—thank you for letting me stay. This was wonderful. I’ll be sure to tell Father I had the most educational of afternoons.”
“Please thank Giga for her hospitality as well.”
(Linnie's hour is spent trying not to alert Dolly whilst making sure he can clean his face up and remain presentable.)
(He'd rather not be grounded to his room, again.)
(When he comes back, his monocle is gone in favour of an eyepatch that covers his left eye.)
“I'm glad you've enjoyed your time here. I hope he'll be pleased. And the pleasure is all ours, I'll make sure Giga gets her due credit,”
(He bows, slow, one hand behind him gripping the door handle for support and gestures to the door to the library, now filled with a soft blue glow of a portal,)
"This will take you back to your father, farewell, Yolena..."

(With s sniffle, he stands, taking the flowers are carefully arranging them in a vase he pulls out from a drawer in the room)
A flash of blue light breaks out. A Loud Essail Guard leaps forward, coated in a purple glow.
"Halt! You, surface dweller! Return the stolen documents to @high-priestess-velara or face divine punishment!"
[ @high-priestess-velara ]
"Me? Who are you talking about?"
(Linnie turns around to face the Essail Guard. An Essail? What the- The priestess? Can't be...she... Never mind. This idiot's interrupted something important.)
"How did you get in here? And I have nothing of what you want. Everything in here belongs to me."
(He starts to walk towards the guard.)
"I suggest you leave, now."
"More lies!"
The Loud Guard draws their sword and runs at the Mage. They release a yell as they do so. The purple glow noticeably flickers.
"For the glory of the Queen!"
"Oh this is ridiculous..."
(Linnie's voice drops to a dangerous whisper, his hand wafting by his side. A crystalline blue sword materialising as the essail guard charges and with a quick sidestep and flourish of the blade, the essail is disarmed, mostly unharmed save for a small nick on their cheek.)
"Now go home!"
(With a sharp kick to the essail, Linnie sends them tumbling through a portal back into the middle of Sal'Thorin.)
(Linnie dismisses the sword and stumbles into a nearby chair, head in his hands)

There was a long sigh from Link as his one eye watches Rye walk back and forth. He almost had it. It really had been so close...
"Something about tempering myself. Of course the sword speaks in riddles..." Link would have to figure out what that meant. There was something he had missed. Not that there was much information in the first place.
"I have some ideas on where I can look for more information. For now..." There was a pause before Link held out his left hand. "...Thank you. For helping." Even if Link hadn't thought very fondly of Rye at the beginning, the knight had helped him quite a bit. "I'm sure you have business to attend to elsewhere."
(Rye nods, pawing the ground)
"Alright, if you say so..."
(He looks at Link's hand for a moment before gently taking it and shaking it. He turns and walks off, speeding up into a jog as something grabs his attention.)
"Good luck!"
