The Misty Review Issue 4 Is Out Now!
PRINT COPY £4.99 // PDF £PAY WHAT YOU LIKE
After a summer vacation, Misty returns with an almost literal bang. This issue is packed full with pages upon pages of prose after May’s slightly slimmed down release which held more in the way of poetry. From Lancelot Schaubert’s rough’n and tough’n ‘Bought it for a Song’, to Rashi Rohatgi’s gripping narrative of a deaf woman who wants a deaf child, ‘Jet Black’ - this issue should sate your hunger for a longer, more substantial read.
The PDF version comes on a pay-what-you-like scheme, so you can name your own price, from £0. https://gum.co/tmr4pdf
Also available are print versions of the magazine which were produced in a super-limited print run on high quality paper and perfect-bound. These would make great gifts for your friends or family, or keepsakes for your personal library, and also contain fantastic writing each month. You can find these copies at: https://gum.co/tmr4print
The Misty Review is currently produced at 0% profit, whilst still paying all of its contributors each month. To allow us to keep on printing, please consider donating by choosing to download the PDF version and naming your price as anything over £1.

It’s time to create Misty again. Release at end of September. Will update closer to time.
The Misty Review Statement
Dear Readers, Thank you for your concern regarding the July issue of Misty. I am sorry that it has taken me this long to reply to you all. Over the last month you may have seen on the news (if you live in Europe/the UK) pictures of the Calais migrant crisis and French port worker strikes. This has had an alarming effect on my workload, as I work in the ferry industry for my day job. Some days have been over 16 hours long - stuck in Calais with no way to get home... others have been completely devoid of work hours, meaning I do not get paid. To put it lightly, it's been a mess. So whereas I thought that committing to publishing the July issue of Misty was an attainable goal, it has turned out that it actually wasn't. This is because I am currently in a situation where I do not know when I shall be working, and so cannot schedule the time required to work on the magazine, and financially I am unable to get it printed until the situation in Calais is resolved. I am really put out by this. I make my best efforts to keep all of my promises - and I feel terrible having to let you all down like this. I'm very sorry. With the current climate, I do not foresee being able to publish before the end of August - and then I shall be moving back to my university city in early September, so won't have much time to work on it. However after giving it some thought, I believe that I will be able to finish, print and publish the issue by the end of September - the 29th or 30th. Once again, apologies for taking this long to make a statement - it has been hectic out here on the waves. I'm currently on my way to Calais now... it's not looking hot. Thanks for reading this and emailing me with your support up until now, unfortunately there isn't much help I can accept from anyone as Misty is a very personal project that I work on currently alone. Thank you also to all those who have asked about donating to the cause - this has always been possible through adding an optional sum as payment for a PDF copy of Misty on our shop page @ http://themistyreview.tumblr.com/shop :) Once again, sorry. Best, Dale Nash The Misty Review
Misty's back, back again
Hello again, wandering souls. After a month of rest and relaxation, Misty is back to the breadlines searching for more prose and poetry from the understanding humans of the Internet. Have you been writing this month? Does it fit our core themes of spirituality, mentality and/or love? Click here for more details on how to send it in. We want you to get in touch. We need to see it. Did I mention there’s pay? Also, we still have a handful of the Issue 3 print copies available for sale. If you’d like to try before you buy, head on over to our shop where you can find the PDF version of the ‘zine, as well as the module for purchasing your very own super-limited exclusive hard copy for only £4.99. You’ll be supporting the next issue of the ‘zine and helping to pay the next crew of artists who will appear in July.
Finally on the list of calls to arms is our request for a cover artist or illustrator to design July’s cover. Emails should be sent to [email protected] with the subject line: ‘Cover Artist: [Your name here]’, along with pricing information for full colour, traditional (not digital), A5 cover art. That’s all. So long for now, Misty
The Misty Review
Hello everyone,
Two of my poems are currently being featured in the third issue of The Misty Review, a literary magazine. I’m extremely excited and honoured to be featured in the magazine, and I wanted to urge all you to go and purchase the magazine, or download the PDF and make a donation. You can buy or download the issue here.
Thank you to themistyreview for putting me in your magazine, and thank you to all of you for checking out my stuff. I couldn’t be more appreciative.
Have a good one,
Taylor N. Peristy
Hello there! I have two questions about submissions: 1. how long will it take after a submission before the notifications (acceptances or rejections)? 2. Do you require/take short bios and social media links like other publications do?
Hey. For next month things are gonna be a little different, but here’s how it normally goes:
1) Release date is decided
2) Submissions are received and subsequently sent out to other readers/editors
3) Feedback is sent back to me
4) I decide on what to accept and draft and send letters of acceptance to each writer.
This is normally done in about a 2 week timeframe, leaving 2 weeks before release for artwork, editing, and ordering of the hard copies of the zine.
However, like I said, things are different for next month as there will be no June issue. This means that submissions will be open for receipt, yet shall not be read or accepted until the beginning of June. This is not meant to discourage submissions, but it’s the holidays and we all need a rest!
Hope this clears things up.
Also, yes we take links for websites and social profiles which are published at the end of the journal, but haven’t used any bios yet. This may change in the future. Send what you feel is necessary to support your writing.
ISSUE 3 IS OUT - £4.99
You can grab it now at http://themistyreview.tumblr.com/shop/
Remember that there will be no issue next month as we’ll be having a rest. See you in July!

The May issue is almost complete, we are ahead of schedule!
Hello! I read the editor interview in The Review Review--I love the tone, themes, "heart" of the magazine. I have a fiction piece I'd love to submit, of 5200 words. How strict is your word limit?
Hi! It's generally a 5% leeway either side. We'll take a look at it for you :)
Next issue due for release May 31st!
Now the election’s over, maybe you should start thinking about the next magazine you will be sending your work to. The Misty Review seeks to find and showcase incredible new, talented writers. The work displayed by The Misty Review relates to illness, fragility, death, spirituality, and consequently - love. Our focus is on identifying breathtakingly beautiful words. This means that we naturally favour experimental and up-and-coming styles, flavours, and techniques. Expect to see amazing new identities filling our pages. PAY is £4.99 via PayPal, or one free copy of the magazine, per the terms in our guidelines. We are looking for writing (poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction) centred around the themes of: Spirituality – Give us a representation of your soul, a memory of a lost loved one, a discussion of heaven. Mentality – Illness, strength, fear, emotion. Write it down. Love – What does it even mean? Define it, work it into a rough marble and then shatter it again. For more details on how to submit, head over to http://themistyreview.tumblr.com/guidelines
