Ivy pushed her back up against the door frame, her heel wedged between the door hinges to prevent Hugo from slamming the door back into her face. A smirk trailed onto her face, her eyes diverting to her bright, baby blue nail acrylics whilst clearing her voice.
"I take it you haven't left your music room, nor your bedroom?" Condescension infected her voice, eyes drawling over to Hugo's skin. "You've gotten.. Paler, maybe its time for a tan. Hm?"

Hugo narrowed his eyes, placid expression hastily morphing into an irritated scowl.
"Oh, please," he scowled, standing from the piano stool with a cool glare. "I have no interest in painting myself as orange as you are. Besides," Stepping closer, Hugo met Ivy's eyes with an unnaturally green glare. "To have reached my bedroom, I must have exited the music room, and vice versa. Do try to think out your sentences before you deign to voice them, hm?"
After echoing his sister's small hum, Hugo quirked an eyebrow at her challengingly.
"Tell me what you're doing here, Ivy."

Ivy's scoff echoed through the surrounding area, her foot uncrossing from the other. "I'm not orange! And- And what does that even-!?" The words came out in a protesting scowl, before she cleared her throat and recoiled, fixing her expression.
"Well, I just wanted to check on you... Even if you're being a cunt. Its worth not making sure you've fallen over.. or down something.." She snickered, covering her mouth. "Again."

Hugo's expression slackened for a moment before he could prevent it, mouth dropping open in a mixture of indignation and horror. Caught off-guard as he was, it took a second for Hugo to regain his composure- and thereby his anger. He should have expected such jabs from Ivy, he knew. It was foolish to anticipate otherwise.
"Your concern is noted," he drawled, every word dripping with seething sarcasm. He bristled at the amused look on her face, his own remaining pinched and sour. "I assure you, I am doing insurmountably better than you are. Remind me, when was the last time you ate a full meal?"

His expression would've brought a smug expression onto her face, yet the words quickly brought up after caused her face to drop, her cheeks flushing red. Ivy kept her eyes diverted, biting the inside of her cheek.
"Fair fucking play asshole." She rolled her eyes, trying to wipe off her embarrassment. "I ate a full meal at Will's a bit ago. When was the last time you slept, hm?"

Expression hardening, Hugo huffed quietly. "I truly don't see why that's any of your concern," he deftly avoided the question, something defensive creeping under his facade of aloofness. "You are fully aware that I have work to complete. Surely even someone as frivolous as yourself realises that the latter must take precedence."
Glancing briefly between Ivy and the door, Hugo set his jaw in determination.
"I take it you still haven't learned how to read," he shook his head in mock-disappointment, condescension of his own lacing his words like poison. "It's truly unfortunate that you're so very heedless of every sign I put in your path. The offer to lend you one of my dictionaries still holds true, you know."

Ivy scoffs, blowing her hair from over her face and placing a hand to her hip. A mocking, and rather offended, laugh echoing from her throat. Devoid of emotion. "I can very much read. Whilst I'm not the smartest, at least I'm pretty. Thats all I need."
Taking a step closer to Hugo, her gaze settling onto his eyes, she echoes, "You certainly don't hold up in the looks department. Baggy eyes, ruined hair, pale, just.. disgusting. No wonder you get shoved away with work into the dark crevices of your room.. I wouldn't wanna look at you either. Ugly prick."

"If all you're here to do is insult me, why show up in the first place?" Hugo asked coldly, his posture rigid. "I don't see why you'd believe I have any interest in your... Your superficial face-moulding!" He tsked, approaching her back. "At least my work is worth something. You've just made yourself into an object to be gawked at. As much as you may relish being noticed, I would much rather just be left the fuck alone."

Ivy's amused expression faded into a sour scowl, her eyes narrowing. "Because, you're fun to rile up." She kept her eyes focused on his expression, "At least people will notice me for my work, unlike how you're alone in everything."
"I have connections, and people who enjoy my company. I have fame, and fans, and a girlfriend. Unlike you. Who is a unpopular, unliked, and lonely cunt." Ivy hissed, leaning back. "And your breath stinks."

"Creative, truly," Hugo deadpanned, entirely unaffected. "You know as well as I do that your fans are in love with a facade. I do not want a girlfriend, I do not need an audience, and I am perfectly fine with my piano for company!"
There was also, of course, the matter of Tom, but Hugo felt no need to justify himself to Ivy in that regard. Insulting him was one matter, but dragging his best friend into their argument felt far too unfair.
"If you're so very desperate for a reaction, perhaps you ought to look elsewhere," his face twitched minutely. This was the second time someone had told him he was "fun to rile up", and it was becoming increasingly apparent that Hugo would need to find a way to stop reacting so very much to provocations. "All you're doing is embarrassing yourself with such unnecessary, shallow insults."
" I'm coming in!! " In a flash, Hope began running full speed towards Hugo, the determined intent to jump into his arms and for Hugo to catch her effortlessly.

Stumbling away from his piano stool, Hugo hurriedly prepared to catch her, more than used to Hope running up to him at even the most inopportune of moments. Feeling a smile cross his face as he caught her, Hugo found some comfort in knowing that at least he hadn't been carrying a cup of coffee this time.
"Are you sure you haven't had a growth spurt overnight?" Hugo teased lightly, that grin still upon his face. Relaxing around Hope always seemed effortless. "I think all of those cookies have been doing you good."

Name: Hugo Manolito Crumbleton Huxley
Age: 14
Gender: Male; he/him
Bio: Hugo is an insular individual, preferring to spend his time alone in the manor's music room. A chronic insomniac but a prodigy on the piano, Hugo is cynical, intelligent, and really rather pretentious. Having been resurrected from beyond the grave, Hugo is grappling with a variety of issues he'd rather not divulge to anyone. Begrudgingly fond of his siblings, skeptical of outsiders to the family and more than willing to engage in a battle of wits, Hugo is sarcastic, prideful and in possession of a frankly ludicrous vernacular. He is typically kept busy with work assigned to him by his father, but Hugo always ensures his family takes priority where necessary. After all, someone has to be the voice of reason, do they not?
Home Life: Hugo lives at Huxley Manor with his vast plethora of both older and younger siblings. He shares a room with his clone, Tamesis, and occasionally stays over at the home of his older brother William. Most often than not, you will find him at his piano.
Additional Facts:
He is a caffeine addict. This has reached a frankly concerning level.
On top of his other work, it is Hugo's responsibility to manage Applesoft's various social media accounts. He despises doing so.
He enjoys classic works of literature, and occasionally quotes books or phrases that have stuck with him. More often than not, this is done under the belief that it will make him appear smart, therefore earning him respect. Said belief is entirely self-deluded.
There is a very clear "Do Not Enter" sign on the door of Hugo's music room. This should be ignored at all times.
He's afraid of the stairs. Especially in the dark. Peculiar, isn't it? I wonder why...
He is a loser who eventually dies in a fire. Good riddance.
