Are You My Mother?
Synopsis: A slightly confused baby bird hatches from his egg only to realize that his mother has disappeared. No need to call Child Protective Services, this "free-range" bird takes matters into his own beak and goes to search for Mother. Who does he meet on the way?  Will Baby Bird ever find Mother?  Will Baby Bird develop abandonment issues that last a lifetime?
At first read  it might seem like this would be an awful book to celebrate mothers. In fact, readers, you might ask, "Did you add this to your booklist simply because it has the word 'Mother' in the title? Have you even read this book?"
But just stick with me here. Leaving the nest was an epic parenting fail on Mama Bird's part.  An epic fail way worse than high fructose corn syrup and McDonald's happy meals combined. I mean seriously, Mama Bird, go get the worm earlier.
I love this book because Mama Bird is not perfect, just like mamas in real life. She's obviously a procrastinator and has not heard of getting a babysitter, but Baby Bird loves Mama and is so happy to see her all the same.Â
"Are You My Mother?" reminds mamas everywhere that despite parenting fails, our "baby birds" love us and are excited to be with us in the end
