On my good-spoon days in cold weather, all I want to do is make huge pots of stew and chili or giant casseroles or a big roast chicken or lots and lots of pumpkin bread. But I also know it's not likely to be eaten quickly and I don't want to waste it.

Sell plates!! I don’t know if this is common, but there are a few families in my neighborhood who will occasionally post that they’ve got dinner for sale, and you can toss them a couple bucks to get a plate of homecooked Whatever for the night. It isn’t a business or anything but man is it the best way to get authentic thai food in my zip code.

If you DO want to make it a business, Shef is supposedly exactly that but I don’t know much about it yet.

Witches who study witchcraft as if they were the host body of an eldritch intelligence who was defeated by the maker eons ago and vowed to take revenge by possessing humans and forcing them to consume every scrap of occult knowledge extant on this earth to be ready for the rematch are my favorite type of witches because they have the most to talk about.

Magic is more interesting when you take out “intent is all you need” and focus instead on anthropological study of systematic methods rooted in metaphysical or cosmological theory that matter as both techniques and technologies that _communicate_ intent to the forces around you rather than deciding intent alone is the power - because under that particular assumption, a shallow and superficial understanding is all you need and it really just sucks the fun and exploration right out of it because you’re basically deciding to be finished growing as a practitioner as soon as you start and that’s not to even mention the fact that old folklore is fucking interesting.

But such observations are “gatekeeping” and having a passion for occult study of historically significant practices is “elitist” so just take a rope and fuckin hang me, how bout that?

Magic has no gender.

Women are not “more magical”, men are not “devoid of magic”. In many cultures of the world, men have made most of the input into the development of magical craft. You don’t need to be a cisgender woman to do magic or call yourself a witch; witch is a gender neutral term.

Magic is a craft and a skill, not a chromosome - not to mention that people who believe in bioessentialism in magic have a very shallow understanding of genetics.

My ultimate goal as I slowly go through and organize/catagorize all of my various reading and resources is to make a kind of... goal-oriented directory.

Like. If someone wants to get into making magical jewelry, for example, what should they research? Correspondences and jewelry making are the obvious, but what about traditional methods for creating beads out of paper or clay or other plant material? What about the inclusion of alchemy into the actual enchantment process? For that matter, what about the enchanting itself?

So much of my craft is based off of going down long, winding rabbit-holes of research and I think other people would maybe be more willing to take those dives if they had any idea where to even start.

Because karma literally has nothing to do with witchcraft. Never did, never will. The millenia old religions from which karma originates aren't witchcraft. Very few people who are native practitioners of those religions identify as witches, and those who do, they know what they're talking about when they do bring up karma in their practices.

If you're not coming from a spiritual background of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Taoism, if you don't have a working knowledge of any of these religions, and especially if you're white, then shut it about karma.

It wouldn’t be a common misconception if it wasn’t. Y’know. Common. Lots of people believe the fake thing. They’re wrong too. Sometimes you’re wrong, and that’s okay. You don’t need to get offended. You certainly don’t need to pull out easily debunked “sources” to try and back yourself up. You’re making yourself look silly. Just be excited you learned a new thing. It’s okay.

Also, if you’re going to claim that your blog is even vaguely concerned with history… maybe pay attention to actual historical evidence. That’s also a suggestion. Y’know. Just saying.

Some people really need to learn the different kinds of Gnosis (Knowledge)

Been a while so might miss one but IIRC there's

Unverified Personal Gnosis (UPG): Something that you experienced and believe to be true, but can't provide evidence for.

Unverified Shared Gnosis (USG): None of you can prove it, but have had similar experiences. Could also refer to multiple people experiencing the same thing.

Verifiable Gnosis: This is something that can be proved or at least backed up with sources aside from just other people.

Perhaps to use ghosts as an example

UPG: My house is haunted but the spirit only shows itself to me for some reason.

USG: This building is haunted and dozens of people have witnessed supernatural phenomenon.

VG: We have photographs, videos, etc that prove this building is haunted. (Doesn't mean it's unquestionable, but to a certain community the evidence proves it. Doesn't excuse you to shove your beliefs down someone's throat either!)
