     huh, the more you learn every day. “ it really isn’t all too noticeable. of course, i think it’s not noticeable until you mentioned it. really puts the piece into an entirely new light. don’t you think ? ” theia continued to observe the piece in front of her. she felt a semblance of peace at art museums. of course, there are people who are there purely for aesthetics. but no matter. “ well i don’t think it’s ever too late to audit some classes at the local uni. ”

when reyna was in primary school and had forgotten something, mariana could simply drive to the nearest stationery store, pick up whatever her daughter needed and drop it off within fifteen to twenty minutes. however, things were a bit different now that reyna was attending the wizarding school of hogwarts and the item she needed was not a colored pen, but dragon hide protective gloves. the muggle teacher would not know where to even begin her search for such object, so she turned to the nearest passerby for guidance. “ excuse me, mister. would you happen to know where one could find protective gloves ? of the dragon hide kind ? ”

    of all days, there just had to be a slight crisis at work today. theia was up out the door. before she could get roped back into another unexpected meeting, she notified her assistant that she would be out for lunch. she was only part of the way through her lunch break, but she was craving something sweet. strolling the streets of trafalgar square, she only stopped in sight of ole & steen. it just so happened to be one of her favorite bakeries. but the joy of getting something stopped short when she spotted the line. “ pardon me, ” she turned to the person standing next to her. “ do you happen to know how long the estimated wait time is ? ”

   the wiZbest car service pulled up outside of gringotts bank, its driver turning to face the passenger in the back.  “ we’re here, miss. “  he grunted, thick scottish accent mumbling as she thanked him quietly. the fawley family paid for his services with strict instructions; straight to gringotts bank, then straight back to the quaint two bedroom apartment she called home.  for the most part, rachel taylor, née fawley, AVOIDED the wizarding world.  without magic of her own,  it was simply a reminder of what her life should have been;  the friends she’d grown apart from when they’d gone off to hogwarts and her a swiss boarding school, the joy she’d never experienced upon selecting her first wand, or the flurry of excitement churning in the pit of her stomach the eve of her first journey to hogwarts.  no,  rachel hadn’t experienced any such firsts … but she tried not to let the thoughts of what could have beens cloud her life in the present.  it was why she climbed the steps of gringotts bank with her head held high,  a pouch of galleons jingling in her hand.  without converting a monthly allowance from her parents into muggle money,  rachel’s cushy apartment would have been UNATTAINABLE.  it was the only reason why she’d accepted their help.  unfortunately for rachel,  a quick stop by the bank wasn’t in the cards;  goblins were occupied at each station,  patrons lined up by the dozens waiting to be seen.  she sighed,  getting in line between a girl she didn’t recognize.   “ if only gringotts had ATMs. “  she mused,  kitten heel’d foot tapping against the marble tile.  “ think of the time we’d save. “

evan never had a problem discussing art, not when it was something he’s so passionate about. it was something he even got enthusiastic over talking about. “that’s good, and personally? i have two that always catch my eye, suppose they could be deemed as ones i like the most even. one of them is starry nights, it’s so abstract and such a beautiful masterpiece. such a huge inspiration. another is the three musicians– it’s ACTUALLY an oil painting. even if it looks more like a collage. not that many notice those small details, or those kinds of things but i do.” it was the artist in him talking and that made him able to do that, especially at first glance. “most also don’t know picasso painted two very similar three musician pieces.”

     theia nods in agreement as she listened to the other man speak. he did bring up some valid points. art is always to be interpreted by the viewer, right ? but that might just be her opinion. others have the opinion of figuring out what the artist meant. “ oh wow, it was an oil painting ? i didn’t realize. then again, maybe i’m just not as observant when it comes to such things. i only took a handful of art history classes in uni. ” never hurts to learn more. after all, her job was kind of a learning experience in itself. even if there were others trying to undermine her at times.

“ you’re welcome. ” the brunette smiles back, tapping the pads of her fingers against the small of the box.  “ well, i’m not surprised she decided on bein’ a vampire. vampires are fun and easier to… play as, i guess. you can wear anything you want and the illusion will be there: use whatever outfit you want, get yourself some cute fangs and there you have it, an amazing vampire costume. ” 

     “ that is very true. but there are others who want to go for a more ‘traditional’ depiction of vampires. ” the minister of state nodded. she spotted the pastry box in the girl’s hands. “ oh ! i apologize for interrupting if you were about to eat. i will just be on my way then. thank you again for your help. ”     FIN.

vera was just picking up a tiny madame valerie from her coffee colored patessiere valerie’s treat box when she was being spoken to. caramel pools raise to the speaking woman with a tilt of her head, the memories of what the muggle dessert shop brought to her senses now forgotten now that her fangs have been mentioned in the currently one sided conversation. her fangs. her fangs ! times like these makes her wonder why she never listens and charms those fangs away when going to the muggle world like her father always says ! vera doesn’t say anything at first. instead, she places the treat back into the box and closes the box. “ i bought them in italy, ” the brunette lied… even when it was half true, her usually monotone timbre now holding a kinder tone as she grants the woman with a lopsided smile. “ and i bought them like… way back when i was thirteen. i don’t think they sell ‘em anymore. ” she pretends she’s thinking, scratching an area near one of her dimples. “ i apologize for not being much help. i heard there was a halloween sale near this shoe department, though. ”

     “ oh. ” she’s not phased by it. for some fake fangs, they did look really convincing. theia was not below going out of her way to get the best. “ that’s quite alright. they look very real and i was just curious. ” she smiled at vera. she took note of the halloween sale, making sure to take her niece to shop for her costume. “ but nonetheless, thank you so much for your help, it does mean a lot. my niece has been going mad trying to find the perfect halloween costume and settled on being a vampire. ”

“absolutely.” evan commented his gaze on a painting, it being one of those moments where he was just absorbing in the detail and the painting in general– often times when he admired paintings– he always wondered what the artist had been thinking or feeling the moment they’d been working on it or what they might have hoped others would feel from the painting. if they maybe wanted someone to look at it and feel a particular feeling. he wondered if that was JUST an artist way of thinking. “i find it difficult to have favorites when it comes to art. every piece is always so unique, and meaningful it doesn’t make sense to me to have favorites. i always enjoy every piece of art, since there’s so many beautiful pieces. i’m particularly fond of van gogh, monet, dali, picasso. so many more, even the not so popular ones.” he shares, always more than happy to talk about his passion and career. “are you a fan of art, in that case?” 

     theia may not have gotten a degree in art history, but she took a good number of classes on art history just for the sake of it back in her university days. the eras of each art movement were always so fascinating to her. each one described the successes and struggles of that time. “ while that does make sense, isn’t there one that just screams out to you ? ” she asked curiously. “ i guess it technically, doesn’t have to be a favorite since it’s just one that catches your eye,” she mused. “ but you express a fondness of van gogh, monet, dali, picasso ... are there any specific pieces you’re particularly fond of ? ” she was a curious person. it doesn’t hurt to make some friends through art. “ and i guess one could say that i am a fan of art. ”

   “ yes, pardon you. ” lezekiel’s wavy strands, a result of lacking their gelling potion, had a particular bounce to them amidst the madness, but his eyes still possessed the gravity to stop time and grasp the beholder’s attention— if not just for a second. how many muggles was it now that had gaped at him like perhaps the tales of the greek gods coming downs from mount olympus were true after all ? maybe it was a seer thing. you’d never know with professor trelawney always hiding behind her giant glasses… and presenting as a preying mantis on her best days. it could also be a wizard thing; there had to be some kind of magical draw that resulted in the marriages between muggle and more, when one was actually interested. but it was probably just a theosidis thing. “ you could hurt someone with those. ” he glanced down at her heels. “ i thought the objective of a civil servant was to help people. ” lezekiel looked caught between wanting to sneer and chuckle darkly. 

     she was thrown off by his abrupt nature only to stop short to briefly admire the young man’s features. if anything, she was assuming he was a model or something. theia glanced down at her heels. she would readily admit that wearing them during session would not be the best of choices, but she just got them and was trying to break them in before wearing them out casually. “ isn’t that the point ? ” the minister of state shrugged. not in the least bit bothered by his tone. “ we can only help the ones that wish to be helped. ” it was her philosophy. her majesty’s government can only do so much to help the people, but it was up to the rest of the people to accept the help that was asked of them.

      though rachel had finished her schooling years earlier, there was something about a college campus that felt familiar.  whether it be the cobbled paths, ivy weaving up the sides of the looming brick buildings, or the people bustling past to make it to class on time.  it reminded her of her boarding school days,  when things had been SIMPLER;  being an adult,  she’d soon realized,  wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.  lunch with a friend before class had been extended as she now was waiting in line to purchase tickets for a band that were playing nearby the next weekend. the wait had been too long for her friend,  who’d had to dash off to class,  so though her feet ached and she was DYING for a coffee ?  there rachel stood. she’d made a promise and her word was law.  spotting what she thought was a familiar face,  rachel flagged down a passing student.  she’d only learn after opening her mouth and shoving a few crumpled up bills into his hand that this WASN’T her co-worker’s younger brother ... but a complete stranger !  “ thank god it’s you.  you will seriously save my life if you could grab me an iced coffee.  get something for yourself, too.  “  though she’d attracted a bit of attention, she was seemingly oblivious to it.  “ thank you, thank you, thank you.  seriously.  i am in your debt. “

      if there was one thing rachel prided herself on,  it was her eye for aesthetics.  she’d been working at LUXE for awhile now,  long enough to get a sense of her customers;  regular and otherwise.  while she didn’t recognize the pink haired patron who’d wandered into the shop,  she was already mentally picking out eyeshadow shades and gloss types that would compliment her.  “ welcome to luxe ! “  she smiled widely,  stepping out from behind one of the display cases so she could greet her properly.  “ if this is your first time visiting us,  you get 10% off your first purchase. “   while that part was standard,  she couldn’t help but add, “ ... and if you don’t mind me saying, a bold lip would look BRILLIANT on you. “

     she could’ve  SWORN  she saw a glimpse of fangs on the girl’s teeth. either that or they were just some very sharp canines. then again, halloween was nearing, and it wasn’t exactly out of the ordinary for theia to be seeing people dressed up. she didn’t understand it, the need to start so early. but she wasn’t to judge. nonetheless, she was curious. it was then that the minister of state let her curiosity get the better of her. she ended up walking over to the petite girl. “ i don’t mean to pry, but where did you get those fangs ? my niece was looking towards being a vampire for halloween. ”

     “it’s quite beautiful isn’t it?” she walked, stopping next to someone. “cézanne is easily one of my favorite post-impressionist painters.” she admired the avenue at the jas de bouffan. the museum was always a favorite place of hers. it was always so quiet, calm. serene.  she didn’t have to worry about people causing such a commotion. it was a nice way to detach herself from her everyday life. she wasn’t sure if the person next to her was also an art aficionado or not. either way, they’re at an art museum one way or another. for all theia knew, they could just be a tourist who wanted to see the sights and visit museums and do what normal tourists would do. “what about you? do you have any favorites?”

      “look, i appreciate the questions that you have for me, but so long as i am not in session, i’m afraid it will have to go unanswered,” the current minister of state gave the reporter a polite smile. honestly, she was just trying to leave her meet up with the prime minister! she hastily evaded any other reporters by 10 downing street. while her ambitions led her into the field of civil service, she did wish that the reporters were few and far. in an attempt to speed walk in heels, theia felt herself bumping into another figure. “pardon me.”
