I *HAVE* to share this dialogue I’ve never heard before while I was playing DAN yesterday 🫢
So I’m at the part where Nancy just finished making the cookies and returns to the Moulin to find that Heather is gone and needs a stuffed parrot. Minette is busy pinning JJ in the studio with a DND sign on the door.
When the phone rings, a “Guy with German Accent” answers the phone. He wants to speak to Minette and you can choose 2 options: “She’s unavailable right now” OR “May I ask whose calling?”
I’ve always picked the unavailable line, but yesterday picked the other. This gave me, as Nancy, the option to put the man on hold and go speak with Minette.
So I go to the door, knock, and Minette yells, “What do you want?” And Nancy replies, “There’s someone on the phone who wants to speak to you. He sounds kind of angry.” To which Minette gets really fed up, “Go away or you’re fired! I am busy!” Lol. (Oh also, JJ will shout and say something about being poked with a pin. And Minette says something like, “Oh cmon on, it doesn’t hurt. It’s just a pin.”
You can go back to the desk and see that the phone has a blinking red light because we left him on hold. But my brain thought: I wonder how long we can leave him on hold?
Sooo I went to go open the Dodo box instead. HE WAS STILL ON HOLD AFTER I DID THAT WHOLE PUZZLE.
I wanted to keep testing the waters, so I tried to leave. Nancy then says out loud: “Oh shoot, I left that guy on hold. I can’t just leave yet.” I tried again and she gave another dialogue of “That guy is still on hold! I can’t leave yet.”
I go back to the phone and try to answer it, but he hung up. Nancy says “Hello? Hello? Hm, I guess he hung up.”
AND BECAUSE OF THIS ONE DECISION—BUTTERFLY EFFECT. Because every conversation was different after this. I talked with Bess and George, they ask me about the guy, Nancy admits to leaving him on hold too long so she doesn’t know. I talk with Frank and Joe and same deal. They ask about this guy, but Nancy doesn’t know. I even talked to Minette about it, and she asked Nancy, “Well what’d he want?” And Nancy replied similarly, “Well he hung up.” And Minette says, “It must not have been that important then.”
Never. Ever. Have I experienced such a gold mine of dialogue. 🫨
**OH AND TO ADD: Also when I called F&J at JJ’s instead of the studio, Joe had a whole freak out that Nancy is staying with THE JJ Ling and even asked to put her on the phone. She actually wasn’t in the apartment at the time I called, but that didn’t stop Joe from asking AGAIN when I called him from the apartment later in the game. And this time, she was present, and even interjected in the convo and said, “Are you talking about me on the phone?” 🫠 I was shook.
lol. What rare dialogue awaits us and we don’t even know it? Ahhh **not to mention this game also has the JJ electrical book convo that’s super hard to unlock (still haven’t done that one yet)
