summary: Kaito kid wrote you a letter.
—————/////—-————-////—————-///——————
I have sketched your beautiful face dozens of times, whispering your name while the wind carried away both those scraps of paper and every hope written on them…
And then you found me, sitting on that rooftop, in the middle of one of your jewel heists. You always seemed to be waiting at the places I would flee to afterward, as if by some miracle. We rarely had the chance to talk(usually the police, and that brat Conan, would ruin it) yet there were moments when we simply watched the stars drift slowly above us in those rare pockets of silence. I cannot remember ever having been happier in all my life.
From that day on, you know… there was always a smile meant for me, an unexpected brush of hands
And yet, you never let me have more than that.
No words could ever express the agony that tormented me in the deepest part of my heart. Your presence was elusive, almost unreal, as though you were both there and not there at once. And yet you never lied to me, never once broke a promise.
I knew from the beginning there was no room for love in your heart
or perhaps you simply would not allow me to see it.
But love is a strange, unspeaking thing.
Even knowing all of that, I still allowed myself to love you.
We never needed many words when we spoke.
You understood what I could not say, and I understood you too.
That was already more than I had any right to ask for.
More, even, than being loved by you.
And then I nearly gave my life to save yours.
In truth, I was certain I would die when I told you to keep living.
I smiled at you, hoping you will smile back
And you did!
I carried that smile in my heart as I escaped.
Though I thought I would never return to see whether you were safe… I was too weak.
All I could remember was your smile.
Your beautiful eyes were the last thing I saw before I was ready to close mine forever.
But then… I woke.
Alive.
And you were there, smiling.
Only this time, it was different.
You seemed… real.
In the end, we all have to say goodbye, don’t we?
No exceptions.
May I find you again someday? I asked.
You shook your head.
It was alright. I never expected someone like you to care for a thief like me.
But then you said
“There’s no need for you to look for me.
I will find you, no matter what.”
I raised an eyebrow in surprise, flustered in a way I could barely hide.
It became hard to breathe when your small, beautiful hand lifted my chin
and for the first time, you let me taste the promise of those lips
Almost.
Then you were gone,
leaving only the memory of that unfinished kiss lingering on my skin.
But I will wait for you to find me.
You will find me… won’t you?
Signed,
Kaito Kid.
