Daft Punk - Saint Laurent (March 2013)

Mr Cocaine himself.
The first time I saw Mötley Crüe live was on March 5, 2005 when I was 8. We were seated up in the nosebleed section of the arena, and the stage felt like it was miles away…but I didn’t care. I was about to see my favorite band for the first time.
I vividly remember the overwhelming feeling of excitement that came over me as the lights went out, and the show started - only for that excitement to be crushed when we had to leave halfway through the concert to catch the last train back to Maine from Boston. We left the show during Home Sweet Home, ironically, and I remember crying as we were leaving the arena and the muffled rendition of Home Sweet Home progressively faded more with each step until we were finally on the train. I was heartbroken.
Little did I know back then, I’d end up seeing them 9 more times.
It’s hard to accurately put into words how much Mötley Crüe truly means to me. I’ve grown up with this band. Their music has gotten me through so much, and has inspired and motivated me endlessly, in a way that no other artist has. Their example has taught me to relentlessly pursue whatever it is in life that I set out to accomplish, to never give up or take “no” for an answer, and to say “FUCK YOU” to those who stand in my way.
As much as I wish I could be at the final show in Los Angeles tonight, I’m so incredibly grateful that I have gotten the chance to see them live a whole 10 times before Mötley Crüe is laid to rest for good. From the first show I saw 10 years ago at 8 years old where I left crying during Home Sweet Home, to the last show 10 years later at 18 years old walking out again in tears after Home Sweet Home (which totally felt like a full circle moment), I really feel as though I have said a proper goodbye to my favorite band. All of their shows have been totally worth the money and the traveling it took to see them, and I’ve been left with the most amazing memories that I will never forget.
So, to close out this long-as-fuck post, I would just like to say from the bottom of my heart, the most sincere thank you to Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, Vince Neil, and Tommy Lee, for nearly 35 years worth of killer music, amazing memories, inspiration, and the tremendous impact your art has left on fans around the world, myself included.
