It’s been almost a year and I still do not understand why they coded Sansa and Tyrion’s relationship as romantic in season 8 only for them to both end up alone

Suicide Squad (2016) // Birds of Prey (2020)
You know what that is? Male director vs female director.

You ever just see a hot take about a character that’s so fundamentally WRONG you just have to sit back and ask if they have ever looked at the source material, ever?
Tyrion’s sweetest dream during his convalescence is basically him being
celebrated by the people who never respected him,
shown approval by the father who never loved him and only saw him as a monster,
knighted by his knight brother who was also the only one who showed him any love,
loved by his woman like he (thinks he) wasn’t by his first wife
called “giant of Lannister”, his dwarfism no longer being the only thing defining him
phoebe waller bridge could do game of thrones but d&d couldnt do killing eve or fleabag
d&d couldn’t even do game of thrones
The biggest mood at the Emmy Awards was Peter Dinklage casually saying "It's over, I don't care." Because I feel that way about Game Of Thrones now too.
I feel like people are completely ignoring how absolutely phenomenal it is for a disabled actor to not only win so many awards, but be NOMINATED for so many awards, especially for a character that has done so much for disabled representation on television. Just because you don’t like Tyrion or think someone else deserved to win over Peter, you shouldn’t ignore how groundbreaking it is to see a disabled actor be so celebrated, something Peter himself alluded to in his speech.
Congrats baby!!!
You deserved it no matter what!

LIBERATION THEOLOGY IS SENDING ME-
You idiots. You buffoons. It's IDEOLOGY.
Let's talk about THE Sanrion moment. I consider it a scene that solidified my already intense belief that Sanrion was the GOLDEN ship. The ship of dreams. The ship that made SENSE. As if there wasn't enough evidence to support the notion already. It was so fucking magical, it made Sanrion shippers out of people who had never before considered the ship.
It was magical...yes. I could go on and on about Sophie and Peter's beautiful chemistry, the chilling music swelling in that added to the moment, the little details within the sequence that add symbolic meaning to that moment...
But I want to talk about one thing particularly. Basically, their exchange of expressions. Simply put:
They are both panicked. Rightfully so.
They meet each other's eyes. Decide to kickass or go down trying. Notice what happens...
Panicked.
Eyes meet.
Decide to kickass.
Inspired by each other's choice.
Affectionate warmth within glance.
Intense eye-fucking ensues. Okay not really because A WAR is happening right now.
They are drawing STRENGTH from each other.
They CALM each other.
Resulting in affectionate gesture.
Let's go fight, babe.
Basically, it was a reflection of both characters, and how their association with each other has affected them both.
Sansa regains control of her breathing and she becomes confident to do what they must do when she looks at Tyrion. And Tyrion seems to get a hold of himself and his emotions and understands exactly what they must do the moment he looks at Sansa.
Particularly:
I believe that Tyrion's presence calmed Sansa.
I believe Sansa's presence strengthened Tyrion.
And honestly, this has always been the case. Sansa has always been calmed by Tyrion's presence. And Tyrion has always been strengthened by Sansa's.
For me, I truly think that Tyrion realizes he is in love with Sansa, in that moment. And I think that Sansa is instantly hit with a wave of feeling (love) for Tyrion that she didn't know she had.
I think Tyrion is in love with her. Pure and simple. And he is suddenly aware of the fact. I think Sansa is a few steps behind. But I do believe her love for him would have developed firmly, from this moment on. For him, this moment was feeling the burn of the flame that was already there and just hadn't been close enough to reach him. For her, this moment was a spark that finally started the fire that was bound to light aflame.
They are so damn golden. How do people not ship them? Gosh...
