The mythical disabled person who is so disabled that everyone consistently supports and accommodates them without question is a straw man which only exists as a hypothetical for the political purpose of denying real disabled people care while still being able to argue that said care would be accessible to disabled people who "actually deserves it"

I've read a few books from the 1940s and 1950s recently and something I've noticed is the language is a lot more complicated than some of the books I've seen published recently. Obviously there's a literacy crisis but I think the language is actually changing too. Like how 1800s English is distinctly different from current, I think we're going to see 1900s English become a thing probably in our life time

#The Diary of Anne Frank was a real stand out for this because she was 13 and writing a diary (rather than an adult author writing a novel)#something I've noticed is people on social media complaining about like casual use of 6 letter words #but this book I just picked up the average word is 6 letters and there's like 8+ letter words in basically every paragraph #it's more than just how people talk #we have stopped using a lot of previously common #non slang words

what they don't tell you about making friends is you gotta be a lil annoying. you gotta push past the fear of "what if they don't want to talk to me" and simply ask someone how their day is going, send a meme. you cannot connect to people if you're both just awkwardly waiting for the other to start.
