Wig Stuff

Sometimes (many times) u have to pluck ur parting. Use tweezers.. Using ur hands heightens the chance of ripping the lace

Concealer on ur parting for blending purposes

Razor combs are ur friend for trimming down bulk and “wiggy looks” (unless thats what ur going for). Also, if u want no leave out, u can make baby hair with razor combs with ease

Fabric dye/tint works wonders for dark skinned people who want to blend the lace color with their skin (or scalp if u have leaveout)

Sew an elastic band from ear to ear inside a full lace/lace front to keep the hairline from lifting

Simple, but wash ur wig when u get it in a solution of vinegar and warm water followed by shampoo (ESPECIALLY SYNTHETIC HAIR!!! THE FIBERS ARE COATED IN ALKALINE FLAME RETARDANT MATERIAL THAT IRRITATES THE SCALP. FOLLOW THE SAME PROCEDURE FOR BRAIDING HAIR).

If u want to straighten or curl a synthetic unit, wet it first. The water creates a protective barrier which keeps the fibers from melting

Take care of the hair underneath and try to get a satin cap instead of a nylon one. Nylon is drying (u can make it work with nylon tho.. Just moisturize often)

Putting concealer on the underside of the lace is better than getting it in the hair by accident. Just set it with powder after

Those combs near the temples? Don’t embed those in ur hair if u want to keep ur edges. Instead, tuck the combs under ur wig cap (but do not embed into hair)

Some shedding is to be expected of lace wigs right after u cut the lace

There are synthetic lace front vendors if ur looking for something on the cheap or are just starting out. (fridaynighthair.com is one that comes to mind)

The smaller u braid under ur wig, the flatter it will lie (may seem obvious to some but some people dont know)

Some people say that gel can be used to hold lace fronts down (I’ve yet to try that and im not dying to tbh).. Everyone that does this method mentions Got2b glued gel so that can be an alternative to wig tape or glue

U can always sew down a lace front wig as well! I would suggest using clear nylon thread as opposed to black weaving thread. There are many videos on the subject.

U can still wear wigs and be natural! It doesn’t mean u hate urself! U dont owe anyone an explanation as to why u wear wigs/weave!

Aaand, u can retain lots of length with ur real hair wearing wigs as a protective style if done properly!
