Yeah ik it's shitty (hate the format but didn't know how else to do it) but I'm contributing to this 🙏 I've been hyperfixating on hannibal for a few months now and after watching season 2 of squid game and shipping these two I only have thoughts about the parallels of those two relationship in head (and I think I just love old men toxic yaoi doomed by the narrative)

I may have found a parallel

the way Will pulled Hannibal in a gentle embrace, the sweet reassurance that he was there.

I suggest rewatching this scene and considering the embrace, the way they hold one another, and Will's head in the crook of Hannibal's neck, hand caressing the back of his shoulder, and soon after, cradling the back of his head before pulling them over the edge..

the correlation is subtle but it is there. the way they held one another, in simplicity, is similar; but the meaning behind it changes so much.

in twotl is is for once THEM THEIR design. not hannibals, not Will's, THEIRS.

as opposed to twotl, in Mizumono there were so many clear betrayals, and contradictions. the embrace is a bitter-sweet form of almost comfort.. a hopeless yearning embrace before their gut-wrenching departure (yes, the pun was intended)

in twotl it is instead a genuine embrace. the two brutally shed the skins they had spent their whole lives building until that moment. In that moment the two coexisted fluidly without contradiction and beautifully emerged into themselves.

Although, Will knew they couldn't live like this long, nor could they live without that venerable coexistence. Will held Hannibal in those final moments lovingly rather than out of need or hopeless yearning. if you listen to the scene without music the two even sync their breath.. in that moment they were both at peace, fully content.. in the face of that shared venerability. the touch was comforting and reassuring as there came the silence; the only place the two could continue to coexist.
