âI thought this was meant to be easy.â
âSimple,â Dean corrected, shovelling out another load of dirt from the grave. âIt is simple enough. Dig up the body, salt it, burn it, bury it again, hopefully before the ghost tries to wring our necks.â
onedropoutwithsixbucksâ:
âI prefer to think of myself as a realist,â Dean said, taking another bite of his meal and savouring it for a moment. âNo point sugarcoating it. On the other hand, I am a whole barrel of fun at parties. You ainât seen nothing.â He flashed Adam a mischievous wink, and Sam rolled his eyes in mild exasperation.
Ădam snorted. âDear Lord, I hope thatÂŽĂ never have to witness that.â He could only guess what he would be like, based on the guys like him he had known in high school and college. He poked his food. âSo, after weâre so no boogie men lurk here anymore, we just go back to Bobbyâs?â
noditchablepromdateâ:
That was a pretty good question, and Bobby frowned slightly as he thought it over. âI donât know that I enjoy it in the sense oâ havinâ fun,â he replied finally, âbut I feel like I do a hell of a lot more good with it than I wouldâve as just some crazy old junkyard owner. Iâve helped a lot oâ folks anâ I like to think Iâve saved a good number oâ lives, even if I messed up sometimes.â
There was a lingering pause, before he added, âAnâ I got more of a family than I wouldâve otherwise.â
Adam picked the fabric of his jeans as he consider Bobbyâs reply. Guess with some this kind of life beated the one they would have otherwise had. Although Adam wasnât even sure what his life would have been like if he hadnât gone to Hell, if he hadnât said yes or even died. Would he had ended up going to medical school and just becoming a doctor like he planned? Or would just some other monster at some other point have come after him? Or his mom? There was so many what-ifs... âYou mean Sam and Dean?â he asked quietly? He didnât really count them as family. He had known them for what, less than a day? And after Sam had been rescued from the Cage, he hadnât heard about either of them again.

noditchablepromdateâ:
âYeah, Iâm old as dirt,â Bobby said lightly. âJust try anâ take it easy, okay? I know thisâs rough, anâ thereâs no easy way to work through it, but Iâll do whatever I can to help you out.â
It seemed like the kid was getting tired again - understandably, really, given all heâd been through - and so the old hunter lapsed into silence again as they trundled along the road. He didnât want to poke if Adam wanted rest, but he was more than willing to talk.
It wasnât really tiredness, more the weight of reality starting to slowly sink in, now that he for once he had the peace and calm to start looking at what his situation now was after getting eaten alive, brought back to life and went through literal Hell. Even though the world around him looked so familiar, it felt like something had cracked and was now off. Adam watched out of the window at the passing light posts and trees, He felt weirdly simultaneously paralyzed, but also restless. Finally he broke the silence. âDo you like your life?â he asked quietly.
âI thought this was meant to be easy.â
âSimple,â Dean corrected, shovelling out another load of dirt from the grave. âIt is simple enough. Dig up the body, salt it, burn it, bury it again, hopefully before the ghost tries to wring our necks.â
onedropoutwithsixbucksâ:
Sam glared at Dean and leaned over to rest his hand on Adamâs shoulder. âHey, you know weâre just worried about you, right?â he said gently. âWe donât want that to happen to you or your mom ever again, thatâs why weâre filling you in on all this now rather than waiting for it to come up bit by bit.â
âHunting ainât something you can learn out of a book,â Dean added, softening himself now. âNot the vital stuff, anyway. You just go out there and you do it, and you hopefully survive long enough to get good.â
Adam glanced briefly at his brother, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly as he stuffed the memories back down. Now was definitely not the time to deal with them.
When he was sure that he had pushed them deep enough, he turned to Dean, raising a sardonic brow. âWow, you must be really fun at parties with all that gloom,â he huffed.
michael: starts to say anything
adam: oh my god you dramatic bitch
noditchablepromdateâ:
âSure, thanks.â Bobby accepted a small handful and ate them slowly while Adam tucked in himself. At the next question, he half-smiled and shrugged. âThirty-odd years of experience, I guess,â he explained. âTrust me, first time I crossed paths with all this supernatural shit⊠I was terrified. But from what happened to me, I decided I wasnât gonna just sit by anâ let it happen to anyone else. So I took it anâ I learned to hunt these things. Anâ it just became my life.â
âOh, thatâs a really long time...â Adam said quietly. He couldnât help but wonder if that was his future too. Although he hadnât really survived more than half of that even alive, so it was likely jumping the train. He glanced at the older man, realizing that he hadnât seen him with anyone else other than his brothers. And it didnât seem like them or his dad had had much if any friends either. And all of his thought he was dead... Adam slipped lower on the car seat, pulling into himself.

Adam threw him a look before wandering among the shelves. He kinda wanted something warm, so he got himself a hot dog and a bunch of snacks, whatever looked like it hadnât sat too long on the shelves. He didnât want to break his teeth on anything dried up. Eventually he carried his haul to the cashier. âI think this should do.â
Waiting patiently by the checkout with his own selections, Bobby smiled at Adam as the young man approached and put down his food. âThat oughta keep ya goinâ till we get back,â he said lightly, paying up and heading back out to the truck to get them underway again.
Once they were on the move, he settled back to eat, figuring that Adam would ask any questions he felt the need to.
Adam started to shift through the pile of snacks. "Goldfish?" he offered as he opened one of the bags. This was surprisingly normal all things considered, like a roadtrip. "How do you seem so used to this all?" he asked after a while.

The world is going to hell...
@thenotsoinfamousthirdsonâ
It had been a year since people had starting turning into these awful zombie like creatures, and to say the least it hadnât been the best year or Tallahasseeâs life. Still, he made the best of it by trying to enjoy the little things (after all, what choice did he have?).
That particular morning, Tallahassee was on a provisions run. He was carrying of course, as you couldnât be too careful these days (even on a shopping run). He wasnât unduly worried or anything, but he was on alert at usual. There were many downsides to the current situation, but at least shopping had become more interesting? and less crowdedâŠ
As he was walking down the street he spotted someone up ahead, he could quickly tell that they werenât a zombie so he wasnât overly concerned but he kept his fingers poised by his gun just in case, as experience had taught him that appearances could be deceiving and that he should assume nothing (assuming things was dangerous, assuming things could get you killed). The Floridian kept his eyes locked on the guy, waiting to see what he would doâŠ
Adam was still half sure that this was all just dream or a hallucination or something. Maybe he was in coma and this was all just a figment of his imagination. Because that sounded more believable than that he had gotten eaten by monsters, one of which looked like her mom, then gotten revived and possessed by an archangel, gotten to hell for eions only to somehow end up back on earth just to end up into a zombie apocalypse. Yeah, the coma theory was more believable.
But at least his boy scout background aided him in the survival, because he had no desire to become a chew toy again. He preferred to stay out of population centres, but every now and then he needed to get more supplies.
Today was one those days and he was collecting anything that he could turn into something useful or food that hadnât gone bad already. But then he felt like he was being watched. These days paranoia was give, so he glanced around, only to spot a man looking at him. He tensed as he assessed the man back. He clearly wasnât a Croat, but not all people felt that survivors should work together. Some saw this only as a zero sum game. Adam looked around to make sure he had cover if the man decided to go on offensive.
âHi,â he greeted quietly.
@thenotsoinfamousthirdsonâ
A lot had changed since all this started, Tallahassee barely recognised the life that he once knew. Not that he would go back now if he could, not when everything that had been important to him in that old life was gone. He didnât care if there was a shortage of running water or food, or that he always slept with one eye open these days. It was nothing to what he had lost, it was nothing to losing Buck. So these days he had nothing to lose and a fuck you attitude, which made him a rather dangerous man to know (if you were a croat anyway, he had no problem with anyone who wasnât infected. It was the croats that had taken everything from him).
The Floridian made a habit of avoiding populated areas whenever possible, but he was running low on supplies so he had been given no choice that day but to go into danger zone central. That was if he wanted to eat tonight anyway, plus he needed medicines that only the big city pharmacy'sâ others were two scared (and sensible) to enter would have in stock. It was a dangerous game to be sure, but when it came to fighting croats there was no one quite like him and he prided himself that he did it with flare.Â
Tallahassee then looked at the man thoughtfully when he greeted him, nodding and tipping his hat at him as he then greeted him back thusly âwell hey there, I didnât expect to see anyone around these parts. You must either be really brave or really stupid. The namesâ Tallahassee by the way, and you are?â he murmured softly, looking at the man as he did so. To the untrained eye he might have seem quite relaxed, but Tallahassee was always on high alert no matter what. This man didnât seem like a threat, but he didnât take anything for granted these days and had his weapons in reach just in case.Â
The guy was clearly armed, which didn't reassure Adam's nerves, so he hold up his guard. "Adam. Adam Milligan," he introduced himself.
"Maybe I'm both," he suggested, flashing a small smile and putting on his best bravado. Because if he had learned something from all he had been through, it was that seeming weak painted a massive target on your back.
"And doesn't that kinda make you at least one of the either too?" He still hadn't gotten nowhere near enough supplies, so he could only hope the man, Tallahassee (what kind of name was even that?), would let him pick some more.

âWell, Iâm not a gambler, so better not to risk it.â Adam wavered though along the coffee, pondering should he risk it. On one hand coffee might make him feel a little more alive, but rest stop coffee was usually horrendous and at worst case would give him upset stomach since he hadnât eaten⊠well, in a long time.
âIs that a nice way of saying that I look like Iâve risen from the dead?â he huffed, although amiably.
âWell, you kinda did, soâŠâ Bobby shrugged, though he also glanced round to make sure nobody else was listening. âAnyway, grab whatever you fancy, I got enough to cover it. Then we can get back on the move.â He got himself a cup of the coffee, though, despite Adamâs dubious look at it.
Adam threw him a look before wandering among the shelves. He kinda wanted something warm, so he got himself a hot dog and a much of snack, whatever looked like it hadn't sat too long at the shelves. He didn't want to break his teeth on anything dried up. Eventually he carried his haul to the cashier. "I think this should do."
âI thought this was meant to be easy.â
âSimple,â Dean corrected, shovelling out another load of dirt from the grave. âIt is simple enough. Dig up the body, salt it, burn it, bury it again, hopefully before the ghost tries to wring our necks.â
thenotsoinfamousthirdsonâ:
Adam couldnât hold back a snort at that joke. âI assume then that Mothman and the Goatman arenât real either? A pity. Cryptozoology could be a fun hobby, although I doubt my major offers courses in that,â he chuckled as he sipped his soda.
âWell, we ainât heard anything to suggest they are, but donât count all urban legends out,â Dean cautioned. Adam seemed to be taking a lot of this a little too casually for his comfort right now. âWe crossed paths with Bloody Mary and the Hook Man, for starters and, they were no joke. Some of this shit is very, very real. Just as real as the ghouls that nearly killed you and your mom.â
Adam was not doing it consciously, but it was a defence mechanism as his world was turning over. If he didn't take things too seriously, maybe things wouldn't really be. He was about to quib back but the last thing Dean said got him to shut his mouth and just go to poking his food. He had done his very best trying not to think about them, the smell of blood as they tried literally to eat his mom.... He shuddered slightly at the memory.
oh adam ABSOLUTELY learned that expression from kate sorry i don't make the rules

âIf you were really okay, you wouldnât have fainted.â
âShit, youâre bleeding through your clothes.â
âNo, your brain isnât goo. You just have a concussion.â
âYikes. This is going to need more than a couple bandaidsâŠâ

âIs It even riskier than convenient store sushi?â Adam asked, a bit amused. He likely couldnât find anything fresh, but likely at least something edible. He wandered into the rest stop, looking a bit blearily around. âYou still feel like driving?â he checked.
âIâd say itâs close.â Not that Bobby hadnât taken the risk once or twice anyway; his stomach was pretty close to cast iron these days after all the questionable stuff heâd eaten or drunk. âIâm good on the drivinâ front,â he assured Adam, as he picked out a few decently filling snacks. âYou look like you could use another day or so of sleep as it is.â
"Well, I'm not a gambler, so better not to risk it." Adam wavered though along the coffee, pondering should he risk it.
