ఇ "Alright, you got me. Where we headed?" Marci puts her wide-brimmed hat on and her sunglasses before she pauses at the street's corner. She has out the pamphlet where all the town specials are in one pretty paper. She may or may not have made it herself to keep track of the specials. "I got one hour to kill and a hunger that can't be tamed. I'm kinda feelin one of those Paws lattes for sure. But you get to pick the food." Marci tends to take charge of ... literally everything and this is their attempt at not doing that for once!
Theo looked about, his hand shielding his eyes from the unrelenting sun. Always happy to help the town with fund raising and charity, he found the dine and drink week always exciting. "Hmm," he hummed and thought about the details, "we can do that. I mean I've been taking my allergy meds so I won't get itchy." He shrugged a shoulder as he had a cat at home, in addition to his two dogs so he wasn't about to just have a reaction. "A paws latte works for me."

"I'll give you that one," he let out his own laugh, nodding his head. No, safe to say, Josh was not one of those biker people, primarily choosing to ride in clothes that made him feel comfortable and safe rather than looking a certain way and fitting an aesthetic that others thought he should. That wasn't his style. "I know, I know, the glass is half full," even if it was hard for him to see it that way when it was raining and they were stuck under a bridge. But he reminded himself. It could have been worse. Chewing on his chips, he nodded around the bite, "oh yeah, real badass. You know that Twister movie? They ain't got nothing on me." Except for the fact that Josh was overly cautious in almost every aspect of his life, including making sure not to go out in bad storms. But that was alright. "The wind's picking up, too. Damn."
"Good," he grinned and couldn't imagine Josh wearing leather; heck he couldn't imagine himself wearing any leather either. He was a simple guy who preferred wearing jeans and a comfy tee, or sweatshirt when it was chilly. Otherwise he felt odd or out of place if he wore anything fancier. Nodding, he pointed to Josh, "exactly. Be positive man," he chuckled though the weather was shitty and preventing them from riding further. But they found a nice spot to hang out in until the storm passed. "Hmm," he nodded and his eyes got wide, playfully his jaw hung open. "Damn," he shook his head, "who knew my friend was a bad ass?" He chuckled, though he knew Josh wasn't about to put his life in danger if he didn't have to. "Shit, that can't be good."
Kenzie had to nod, completely understanding where he was coming from with that sentiment. Kids had a way of doing the exact opposite of what you expected, no matter how well you thought you had them figured out. "I know nothing about fire-fighting, but I'd believe you that a fire is more predictable." Not that she would want to take that on, however. Absolutely not.
Theo had four kids so he knew how they worked, or at least how they sometimes did. His own kids still surprised him at times but he could pivot and adjust as needed. "That's exactly why they send you to the academy first," he said with a chuckle, "sadly there's not school or even handbook for raising kids. Fires? Definitely."
Happy birthday @jaceeverett. My first friend, my little brother. Hope this year is the best yet! Thank you for always being there for me and my kids, being the best brother and best uncle in the world. I hope you enjoy your day! Got you a few things, a Yellowstone themed corn hole game set, a firewood carrier (I know it's summer but it'll be winter before we know it), and a personalized wordsearch throw blanket that has terms all themed around you.

ఇ "Now don't hold this against me: remember this is for the good of the community." Seungbin bites back a laugh as he rolls up his sleeves, a lock of hair falling across his forehead as he leans over to retrieve the balls used for tossing. He weighs it by tossing it up and down, being a gentleman by awaiting Theo's proper seat in the dunk tank. "And I promised to pay for your lunch, so you're getting two donations for the price of one." He holds up two fingers to indicate. He does have a go fish dad joke tucked in his back pocket for later but for now he tries to keep it dedicated to the cause.
One thing about Theo was that he was always up for helping out charity. However he wasn't exactly the biggest fan of being on the receiving end of being in the dunk tank. But nevertheless, he donned a pair of board shorts and an old Merrock Fire Department t-shirt and sat down. "Bribing me with food will always get you far," he said with a laugh, "and for charity it'll get you even further." He said with a clap of his hands before gesturing for Seungbin to throw the ball.

Amber wasn't really one for doing things like this, but sometimes it was essential, especially when you hadn't hung out with one of your besties for a while. So the second she'd seen all the photo cutouts, she'd been quick in finding Theo and dragging him over there. "I'm sorry!" she began, even though she was anything but. "But we have to do this! Multiple pictures, you don't get a choice." Laughter slipped from her lips a moment later.
The carnival had always been a favorite of Theo's throughout the years. Recently tho I gh it had been the time where he and Tam had started getting close again, before starting to realize their feelings for one another. But overall it was always a good time had by everyone and he loved getting to see his kids have fun. Being whisked away, he left his twins with Tam while Riley and Lilly were off with their friends. "Okay okay," he replied with a laugh, "what the heck am I getting myself into!?" He shook his head and saw the cutouts, "you're lucky you're my best friend you know."

Ani picked up a punnet of berries, examining it with a raised brow. She was sure they were tasty but the woman next to her was being hyper-vigilant in examining every single piece of fruit in that basket and her shrill voice was making her feel like she needed to tell her to please relax. Desi had wondered off with the $10 she was given for the day to buy some kettle corn and Priya was following her, babbling on about whatever 9-year-olds were interested in these days. She couldn't keep up with the trends. She exhaled in thanks as the woman left to go talk someone else's ear off. Ani turned to the person next to her and smiled. "So what do you think? These are very nice looking raspberries, right?"
The best fruits and veggies was what Theo had always tried to purchase for his family. He had two growing children and two growing babies, he wanted them to have the best of the best. Looking at the produce in front of him, he was judging some oranges when he heard a voice, "I think they look good. As long as you don't see mold or squished ones, I think they're very nice."
"Just be glad you didn't wear leather pants to ride," though that was a good idea to always have, a pair of leather rising pants. "That and that it's not freezing out," he tried to look on the bright side of things, the bright side of life even in most cases. "Snow and ice, I'd like to get home in a single piece without worrying about black ice," he said as a matter of factly, his eyes widening. "Shit. What was the worst weather you've ever ridden in?" As he rummage in his pack, he pulled out some bags of chips, a couple of protein bars, and some candy, holding them out for Josh. "Dealers choice my friend."
"Honestly, it's your loss that I'm not in leather," Josh said with a soft 'tsk' and a shake of his head, "I look phenomenal in a pair of leather pants." Maybe not so much when they were soaking wet and sticking to him in all of the wrong ways, but Theo didn't need to know that. "I like your optimism, though. Who would have known our list of 'things to be thankful for' would have included not wearing leather pants and the fact that it's not snowing?" He definitely wouldn't complain about that. "Uh, hm…" Josh reached to take a bag of chips, ripping them open and thinking about Theo's question. "Freak blizzard one time, that was pretty bad. Sleet, worse. I did drive through something that bordered on a tornado. The wind damn near knocked me over."
Theo burst out laughing and playfully checked out Josh whilst biting his lip. "My loss and Tam's gain," he chuckled again before shaking his head, "I don't doubt that at all." He had never tried on a pair of leather pants and he doubted that he ever would, but he had to hand it to those who did wear them. And especially those who could pull it off. "Hey I always try to be as optimistic as I can thank you very much," he grinned, "I mean I am definitely thankful it isn't snowing. Or even cold beacuse as much as I do enjoy a nice winter storm, that's only when I'm inside and nice and warm." He didn't mind the snow or the winter but not when riding a motorcycle or having to be outside and not prepared for it. As he chose a protein bar, he smacked on it while listening to Josh, nodding his head every so often. "Who knew you were such an accidental storm chaser!?"

Though he wasn't an avid coffee drinker, Theo had found himself over the course of the last year frequenting Cobblestone Cafe. Growing up he hadn't had the type of father people should have. So when he became one, he vowed to himself to be that kind of man to his own kids and as a firefighter that decision eventually evolved and included others. A friendship started at the café formed into Theo becoming said father figure type to Yvaine.
"Hey," he replied as he sat down across from her at their usual spot, "hope today hasnf been too overwhelming here." He nodded towards the counter, a small line of patrons forming waiting to order. "Thankfully no crazy calls yesterday on shift and no milestones missed from my twins."
The blonde's face brightened the way it always did, the moment she spotted him making his way toward their usual table. There was something comforting about Theo's presence; steady in a way very few things in her life had ever been. The kind of person who showed up when he said he would, remembered the little things, and somehow made the world feel less chaotic simply by existing in it.
"Hey, yourself." A smile tugged at her lips as she wrapped both hands around her coffee mug, waiting until he'd settled into the seat across from her. Her gaze flicked toward the line forming at the counter before returning to him. "It's been busy, but not crying-in-the-walk-in-cooler busy." Though, was that a fact based solely on the fact she was on her break? Possibly. "So, by Cobblestone standards, we're thriving."
The blonde leant back slightly in her chair. "Ask me again after the afternoon rush, though. My answer may become significantly more dramatic." She listened as he spoke about his shift, and some of the tension she'd been carrying all morning seemed to ease automatically. "No crazy calls?" The relief in her voice was thoughtful, authentic. "Good. I'm glad to hear it" Because she'd learned enough about firefighting through Theo to know that quiet shifts were gifts, not guarantees.
"And no milestones missed?" Her smile softened immediately. "Look at you. Winning at work-life balance." She pointed toward him with the hand wrapped around her mug. "That's basically superhero behavior, by the way." She'd watched him juggle fatherhood, impossible hours, and an endless desire to help everyone around him with a kind of grace that often felt unfair. The man made it look easier than it surely was.
Her expression turned curious then. "Okay, so tell me everything." She rested her chin lightly against her palm. "What are the twins up to this week?" Her grin a chaser to her words.
The warmth in her smile lingered as she looked at him. "How're you doing, though? Not firefighter Theo. Not dad Theo. Just Theo."
Hr smiled back at her, the corners of his eyes crunching as he did, a genuine smile. Finding friends of all walks of life made life interesting, especially when those friends showed up in different ways. "Busy enough to keep you on track but busy enough to keep you from functioning, got it," he tapped one of his temples while chuckling. "Thriving sounds good."
Any day where one was productive and felt good, was good to Theo. "The morning rush is less stressful than the lunch one? Definitely did not think that would be," he nodded softly to himself. "But I'll remember to do so, I'll shoot you a text to check in." Then shaking his head, he leaned back a bit, his back rested against the back of the chair, "Nope. And no stuck cats either."
As the conversation shifted to his twins, he lit up. The girls being close to a year old blew his mind and every day was another milestone they'd be hitting. "Nope, been able to hear their first words, see their first steps, feed them their first solids," he rested his palms lightly on the table, "plus my older kids are way passed those milestones to." He blushed slightly at being compared to a superhero, shaking his head in response. "They're really feeling fruits and such, I can't wait to feed them watermelon and just let them have at it." He grinned.
"Me? I'm good, happy to be happy and healthy and surrounded by good people. But enough about me. What about you?
As Theo looked out upon the rain as it came down, thankful for the overpass above them, he nodded. "I mean it doesn't look too bad if it doesn't let up, that we can hopefully find a place to hang until it passes," he got off his bike for a moment as it was in park and walked to the edge of the covering to see if he could see any cloud cover. "As least it's not freezing rain or snowing, or cold in general," turning back to Josh while lifting both his shoulders. "For sure, let's see what we got," he smiled and walked over to the saddle bag and took out some ziplovk baggies. "I have both healthy and the not so healthy in here," he then patted the other saddle bag as on his seat now lay carrots and celery.
"Wouldn't be the first time I had to ride home in the rain," he admitted, scrunching his nose a bit. Soggy, damp, sure, but… there were worse things. And besides, as long as it wasn't a storm with lightning and thunder and bad winds, at least it wasn't too hard to navigate. He hoped. "Snow would be worse," he agreed with a laugh, "I've definitely been out when it's started hailing or sleeting during those summer storms, too, and that's just as bad. Absolutely no one wants to deal with ice on the road," even if you should have expected it. "Not so healthy," he said without missing a beat, and then letting out a laugh, "or… whatever, I guess we should have a little bit of both."

Strolling through the spring fling, he wandered about the space as his kids were of with their friends and his twins with were Tam. At some moment, Theo caught himself watching what seemed to be an exhausted adult trying to wrangle a group of kids who seemed to act up every time said adult calmed them down. As he approached, he recognized Kenzie and couldn't help but chuckle to himself.
"That is exactly why I never became a teacher," that wasn't the truth but he could sympathize with teachers. "We get this chaos at the station during field trips. Which are both the most fun and most exhausting days combined."
"I'm sure that's the only reason." Kenzie chuckled, tone teasing slightly. "I don't think I could be a proper teacher either." At least most of the kids in her classes actually wanted to be there, unlike a school classroom. Sure, there were a few who's parents pushed them to learn dance and they weren't super interested. But not the whole class. "More exhausting than your usual days?"
"Eh," he seesawed his head and let out a chuckle, "that and I probably would yell at some kids too much." He shrugged his shoulders and put his hands up with smiling. He loved kids but having a classroom full of ones would probably give him a short fuse. "I get it. And oh for sure. At least with fires we can out them out, and we know what to do. Kids? They're unpredictable."
"I'm pretty sure that the 'figuring something else out' is just going to be us riding in the rain," he admitted with a laugh, shrugging both shoulders. It happened, though -- weather was never a guarantee, especially this time of year. And in Josh's mind, a rainy day on the bike was still a better day than a dry one at home. Although… he couldn't lie and say he he wasn't hoping it would taper off. "I guess maybe this is a good time for that snack break, then?" if they were already stopped, they might as well fuel up a little bit, do their best to get some energy.
