Athena
Moodboard : Athena Ergane
: Welcome to my Moodboards series--where I make moodboards based on certain Deities or their epithets. It may be from any pantheon, but I tend to stick to Hellenic Polytheism.
Today is... Athena Ergane, meaning 'the industrious'

: " Khaire to Athena Ergane, to your working ethic, creative Goddess with art in your hands. "
every time technology fucks out, i ask Hephaestus to please fix it or guide me on how to fix it and help me calm my livid anger at the ever failing technology overtaking my life
he fixes it every time, and each time it feels like he gives me a knowing, understanding hug
💘 Eros Epithets 💘
Adhara's post introduction: Here it is Lord Eros Epithets!! He's the best guy arooound!! I do feel like some people don't give him a lot of the attention he deserves, especially for how important he is!!
Ærázmios: lovely, beloved;
Ærohtiáoh: to be lovesick;
Agnós: holy, pure;
Efpálamos: skillful;
Diphÿís: of two natures or forms;
Évdromos ormíi: he who strikes quickly;
Idýs: sweet, pleasant;
Kállos: beauty/when one encounters beauty, the soul immediately develops desire for that beauty, this is Kállos;
Toxalkís: mighty with the bow;
Ærohmanǽoh: mad for love;
Ærohmanís: maddened by love;
Ærohtodidáskalos: the instructor in the art of love.
Adhara's random fact about the Theoi: He was typically worshipped in conjunction with the goddess Aphrodite but also had two of his own cult centres: one in the Boiotian town of Thespeia and the other at Parion on the Hellespont. In classical sculpture Eros was depicted as a winged child or infant, usually drawing a bow or in the company of Aphrodite.

Amaimákrætos Vasíleia: the irresistible or indomitable queen;
Ærannín: the lovely one;
Dǽspina: mistress, lady of the house, queen;
Iyæmóni: she who has authority;
Kourotróphos: nurturer of children;
Vrimóh: the terrible or angry one (probably derived from the etymology: βριμάζω, roaring like a lion);

Phýlax: guardian of the earthy regions;
Própolos: attendant and guide;
Sæmní: revered, august, holy;
Skylakítis: protectress of dogs;
Kleidoukhos: she who holds the keys.
Adhara's random fact about the Theoi: Hekate's most important cult centres were those of Eleusis and the island of Samothrake where she was worshipped as an associate-goddess of the Mysteries. Hekate also had the epithet "Nyktipolos" which could mean "Night Wandering".
altars for titans and protogenoi
This post more than any of the others is going to be mostly upg or spg. Hardly anyone in antiquity spent a lot of effort worshipping most of these deities, especially the protogenoi, so resources are limited. If you have suggestions or personal addendums, feel free to leave them in the comments. I made a lot of decisions based on what the herbs/crystals are usually associated with: for example, black tourmaline is associated with Nyx (the night) therefore Chaos (the embodiment of the primordial soup and basically the universe) has black tourmaline too.
Also, all the deities on this list can be honored with libation of wine, milk, honey, and oil; offerings of meat or desserts; and burning frankincense/myrrh.
Disclaimer: this is not all of the protogenoi or titans that exist, these are just the most recognizable ones that have the most lore attached. I used theoi.com to research all of these deities.
CHAOS: the first to emerge at creation, the protogenos of the space between heaven and earth, and the air
Colors: black, grey, purple for the concept of chaos Offerings: feathers, burning incense, cinnamon, anise, cardamom, clove, black pepper, representations of the four elements Crystals: obsidian, tourmaline, labradorite, lava rock, angelite, amethyst Animals: birds
PHANES/EROS (the elder): protogenos of procreation
Colors: red, pink for love/procreation. blue, green for nature and creation Offerings: heart shaped objects, eucalyptus, flowers, egg shells Crystals: rose quartz, rhodonite, rhodochrosite, malachite, azurite, garnet, desert rose selenite Animals: birds
communicating with deities
now of course this is a multi layered topic that is different for everyone. some people will use some of these techniques, some people use none, others may use all in sparing amounts. and some techniques may not work for you at all, and that's okay!
just remember that you and your practice is valid, this is just advice for whoever needs it (and that may not be you! it's okay!).
HOWEVER it should be said that a lot of cultures place an emphasis on cleanliness--both spiritual and physical. so, hey, maybe set up some incense and wash your hands before doing some of these methods.
1. Tarot, Runes, Etc.
Now this section is probably the biggest out of all of them. There are so many different physical divination techniques across several different cultures including tarot and runes, but also bone/charm casting (here's a good tutorial for that), psephoi, coin flipping, geomancy, the ogham, and gods so many more I just can't get to all of them.
altars for greek gods (pt.2)
this post includes zeus, hera, poseidon, hestia, hephaestus, dionysus, ares, demeter, and athena. for part 1 including hades, persephone, artemis, apollo, aphrodite, hermes, and hekate click here, for the titans and protogenoi click here.
keep in mind that this is largely UPG, new age stuff, and historically accurate offerings to the gods include meat, wine, grain (specifically barley), honey, and incense (myrrh and frankincense).
colors can be used for candles, banners, decor, whatever you want
ZEUS
Colors: white, blue, and grey for association with the heavens, yellow and black for association with storms. gold because he's the King of the Gods
Offerings: rain water, oak, olives/olive branches/olive leaves, vervain, cinnamon, laurel. images of himself or lightning bolts are particularly recommended for Zeus
Crystals: diamonds, gold (i think pyrite, aka fool's gold, would be offensive), turquoise, lapis lazuli, celestite, iron/steel, any quartz
Animals: eagle, bull
