They’re fine. I’m covering more grades than what I originally taught.

Before all this? Third grade. Now? I’m just picking up the slack with every other grade in elementary.

“I guess this time the plus side is that they thought I would misdiagnose you and I didn’t. You only have a cold, by the way.”
That all? Here’s hoping that you actually diagnosed me right and I’m not going to die in the morning due to my brain leaking out of my nose.

I guess we have to start looking for plus sides to everything nowadays.
“But you know me, Seb. I wouldn’t let her die just because I had a problem with her. I don’t want anyone to get hurt- much less Clem. I just wanted her to stop going on murderous rampages… I didn’t want her to get hurt.”
How many murderous rampages did she even go on?
“No, you’re not. You’re never on my side about anything. You always assume the worst about me. I make mistakes like everybody else but I don’t fuck up on purpose.”
I don’t always assume the worst about you. You know I’d defend you to the death if I had to. But you aren’t fucking up the same way as everyone else is lately. You and Clem go out together and only you come back? Everyone knows that you had a problem with her since the purge. I’m sure as a cop, you’d put yourself in the suspect position in a case.
“I didn’t just leave her. We got separated. I tried to find her- it would have been suicide to stay any longer than I did. I can’t believe you’re saying this stuff. I just can’t win with you.”
I’m trying my best here, Ren.
“You think I was out there trying to get her killed?”
I dunno. Pre-infection Ren might not have just left her.
“What? No. I didn’t mean for this to happen to her. We were just overwhelmed. We got into a bad position and there wasn’t anything I could do.”
Ren, I just — It’s weird. You’re not really acting like you lately. You go out on a run with Clem, even after what she did, and you just lose her. It’s weird. You sure this mayor employee thing isn’t going to your head?
“I don’t know… not for sure. I mean, she probably is.”
