Bridge Cafe Restaurant and Bar.
Maybe I'm crazy.
Maybe I'm not.
Acme Bar and Coffee
This cafe deserves a post on its own.
I looked up this place before coming here. I knew what to expect, I’ve read the reviews and checked out the photos. But when I came in, it was more than what I imagined. There’s a lot of cozy upscale coffee shops nowadays. Somehow, ABC (Acme Bar and Coffee) is yet on another level. Jazz is playing on the background just like any other coffee shop but here, you actually appreciate the mood it sets. Maybe the location of the place helped set that mood. It is located in KLCC, on the ground level of what I assume is quite a high end condominium - given the concierge right at the drop-off driveway. The view from where I sat was a combination of greenery and high rise buildings. If you were sitting outside, you can see the Petronas towers towering over smaller buildings. The feel is so yuppie yet so serene. Most patrons were yes, yuppies and a couple of families.
Okay, the food. I tried their Salted Beef Eggs Benedict and Iced Mocha. The serving is quite generous even for the coffee, it can easily serve two non-heavy eaters. They serve all-day breakfast and they have the usual salad and pasta menu. They also have desserts like sizzling brownies and all that on their menu. I can see from where I sat the counter full of cakes. I wanted to try a slice, but I can still feel the english muffin lodged in my stomach.
My iced mocha was nice and served in a tall glass. I was suprised about the serving. Priced at about s$ 7.50, I was expecting a normal sized serving. So imagine my delight when I saw the venti-sized glass! I’m still contemplating whether to get that “ugly chocolate cake” as I type this. Anyway I’m still halfway through my coffee. I have time to think :)
I arrived in Kuala Lumpur at around 2 o’clock and went straight to the hotel. Well, i wouldn’t use “straight”. It was a 15-minute walk from the bus drop-off point, according to Google Maps. In what felt like 40 degrees, 15 minutes seemed such a long time! But I decided to just get on with it. So I walked and walked, then when I reached the major intersection, there were pedestrian crossing closures! I had no idea where to go. Google maps cannot help me at this point, so i had to turn somewhere and after maybe a dozen of turns, I made it to the other side!
Did I mention I was famished during this time? Well I was. I don’t know where I got the idea that I can handle an empty stomach during a 5-hour trip. So anyway, in one of the turns I made, I discovered that the famous hawker street was just around my hotel’s area. But I couldn’t eat in that level of heat. Jalan Alor, famous for the rows of hawker stalls, still keeps the authentic hawker feel. Meaning all the tables and chairs line up the street. No airconditioning at all. So I decided to just come back on a cooler time of day.
After I passed Jalan Alor, I continued on along a street lined with bars and restaurants. I was hoping to stumble upon a nice cafe where I can cool off a bit while eating. Then I saw The Burger Bar! I wasn’t really planning on eating anything heavy but at that point I could eat an entire cow. I came across this place when I was researching on food joints worth trying in KL, specifically within my hotel’s district. And there it was. Closed. Why???? Initially I thought because today is Good Friday, but then I’m in a Muslim/Buddhist country. So that wasn’t it. I gave up and just walked on.
Finally, I reached the Hotel.
The hotel was very basic, I don’t mind the small size that most boutique hotels have nowadays and the exposed clothes storage system that seems all the rage now. The bed was big and the small room meant the tv was close enough to the bed for you to enjoy. The toilet was okay, looked new and modern, but then again very basic. Then, there was no fridge. My plan to buy snacks and hibernate for 3 days went out the window because of that. When I couldn’t take the profanities my stomach monsters were shouting at me, I headed out in search of food. I wasn’t really looking to feast on local food. Food in KL and in Singapore are just the same and I’ve already had more than I would’ve liked. So I walked (again) towards one of the biggest malls in the area. Pavilion is a high-end mall. It was my first time to step inside. The atmosphere was like that of Ion, but calmer. No one seems to be rushing to go anywhere and they actually look like they are enjoying the stroll. I located the mall directory and went to the basement. Like in most malls, the foodcourt, grocery and other food shops would be here. I walked around to see what store looked appealing, but nothing. So I went with chicken - my favorite. There weren’t so many patrons so I got seated and served fast enough. KyoChon is a Korean fried chicken restaurant, very similar to BonChon. I regret not getting the spicy chicken. The original soy chicken was just so-so, or maybe I was just more into spicy chicken. So lunch was done, next on the list is coffee! I did a bit of research on good cafes / coffee around Bukit Bintang. From Pavilion, the nearest was Coffee Stain. It doesn't have a regular stall, instead, it was sitting in the middle of a department store with an open concept. The baristas are very cheerful and they offered me what I think is their unique coffee blend wherein you can mix 2 flavors to go with your espresso shot. I refused to try this, being the boring and unadventurous me. The idea of mixing orange and caramel with my coffee doesn't sound quite right. So instead I ordered a latte and a slice of red velvet. The latte was nice but the cake wasn't quite there. By far, I would have to say that CBTL's is the nicest I've tasted. Maybe I should try their waffles and pancakes next time. The pictures on the menu looked yummy! That's just day one. To be continued..
April fools
Everyday, we struggle. We try to calm the waves that are our nerves. One moment, you see all the craziness around you and you totally blank out the next. How do we deal with our crazy lives? How can we come back when frustrations start eating us from inside out?

Yup.
Illustrators around the world are speaking out against Russia’s anti-gay laws, and they’re doing it through art. Illustrator Anna Goodson recently sent out an open call to illustrators around the world for artwork supporting LGBT people in Russia. Together, more than 40 submissions comprise the stunning collection she calls “Art Speaks Louder Than Words.” These are just a couple of my favorites; view the whole gallery here. Let’s say you’re stuck on the F train, trying to ignore the person coughing on you, a screaming baby, and a someone staring creepily. (No, I’m not describing my morning). Wish you hadn’t forgotten a book? Here’s an interesting idea from a group of design students: using tech to bring you the first 10 pages of a popular book on your phone, and then telling you the nearest public library where you can go pick up the actual book. Nice way to possibly get more people back in libraries.
Whoa.
Fight
I met She-hulk last night and this morning too. Can't say I was glad to meet her but all I know is that I underestimated her. That bitch can fight. It was as if she has this strength that's beyond superhuman - or was it just adrenaline? Anyway, she wouldn't go down without a fight and from what I saw, she'll never go down for sure.
Every part of her body might be bruised and shaking, but it won't matter cause she won her battle - for now.
Today’s outfit.
