Tumblr Blog Termination Warning – FOR WRITERS WITH TAGLISTS!
Yesterday my entire blog was terminated TWICE without warning by Tumblr while I was tagging the folks in my Pope taglist in the comments. There was no warning, no email. I just hit 'enter' and boom I got the termination notice.
Almost 10k followers and thousands of fics gone in an instant.
I raised a ticket and an hour later the blog was reactivated. There was no info about what I did wrong but an email that said, it’s been reactivated. I still didn't have one that told me why I had been terminated. Two mins later I went back to the taglist and picked up where I left off with the Pope taglist and immediately, as soon as I clicked 'enter' it happened again.
So, I raised another ticket.
It’s my belief that they’ve activated a bot to stop scammers from tagging loads of folks in those ‘send me money for fake charity’ posts they do, and unfortunately if you have a big taglist you’ll fall into that net too.
I’m not sure how this effects people who put their taglists in the actual post, but I imagine they’ll also be cracking down on that at some point if scammers start to use that method.
I just wanted to make everyone aware so that what happened to me doesn’t happen to other people.
Warnings: possessive behavior, reader x astartes, please ask me to tag something if I’ve missed it!
Summary: Hagiel doesn’t want you to go out without him.
"... Where are you going?" Hagiel asks as he looked over from where he had been sitting and working on a landscape painting. It was a commission from a wealthy patron who had asked him for a night sky painting. He was basing it off of one of the night skies he had seen in the far future, complete with stars that were in constellations that the mortal patron would never be able to recognize, framed by the silhouettes of alien trees.
You were dressed in a t-shirt and jeans, with one of your favorite light jackets slung across your shoulders, an over the shoulder bag slung across your chest as you balanced on one foot, to slide the other into one of your shoes, that you kept in a small shelf next to the front door of the apartment that you and he shared. "I'm going out for lunch. I'm meeting up with my friends."
"...That's today?" The Lamenter responds, his eyes widening a little in dismay, a small whine leaving his chest before he could stop himself, his warm red eyes shining with sadness. He had pulled his curly, shoulder-length hair up into a messy bun in order to keep it out of his way as he painted. "I thought that was going to be tomorrow."
"Nope, it's today." You correct with a slight shake of your head, suppressing the desire to sigh as the sad eyes that he was sending your way intensified. "We talked about this, babe. I know that you're worried that the alleged bad luck that you and your brothers are plagued with is going to get me killed if you're not there to heroically sacrifice your well-being for mine, but it hasn't happened yet."
"Please don't joke about this, love. I know that you don't put much stock in luck - good or ill - but it really is a force in the galaxy. And is, in my experience, a gnerally malevolent force that tilts scenarios and odds against even the best prepared in both small scenarios and in the most dire situations as well." Hagiel begged, shivering a little. He very much did not want to see you suffer and die horribly because of the curse of bad luck that his chapter had always suffered. "Give me a couple of moments and I'll join you."
You sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose with your free hand as you managed to put on one shoe, switching to leaning your eight on the newly shoe-clad foot and do the same wobbling routine to get the other shoe on "We talked about this, babe. We don't have to go absolutely everywhere together, and in fact, it's healthy for the both of us to spend some time apart."
"But... But we already spend so much time apart. I stay out of the room that you use for your work that you do at home, and I spend time at the nearby astartes base, working with my brothers and mostly a lot of cousins and some baselines..." Henri pointed out, trying to keep his voice from getting too distressed or - as you put it when you were annoyed with him - whiny.
"And I've told you before that though we are trying to figure out this whole... Mystical bond thing between the two of us, I am not going to stop living my life the way that I want and be shut away in a room and only interact with you and the two point five other Astartes you think are safe enough for me to interact with." You answer, voice firm and steady. Your older brother had been bonded to an Astartes and had that happen to him. It had taken him years before he'd managed to get the overly territorial and possessive Dark Angel to see something resembling sense, and he still had difficulties being allowed to see more than one other human a week.
"I... I wouldn't do that to you." Hagiel protests, genuinely hurt by the implied accusation "I haven't tried to convince you to live with me at the base once. I asked if that was something you would consider and when you said you were uninterested I let the matter drop."
"You're still being possessive. I'm allowed to have friends and go out and do stuff that I want to without you hovering over my shoulder." You remind him, still firm, despite the large, wet red eyes watering at you. You weren't going to let him indulge in his possessiveness, to assuage his anxieties. You'd managed to claw out of the mess that was your birth family with sheer grit, determination and a great deal of therapy. You weren't going to let some giant spaceman who had a hate-misery relationship with Murphy's Law stop you from living your life the way that you wanted to.
"I... It's not you that I don't trust, I promise! And I know that your friends care for you as well. I just..." He swallows, staring down at the painting he'd been making, struggling to figure out how to put what he was feeling into words. He wasn't sure he could, or at least he didn't have the words in a language that you understood. "When you're not with me, nor where I can hear you, I fear that something terrible will happen to you, and there's nothing I can do to protect you from it."
Your eyes soften a little and your heart aches for him. You walk over to where he's sitting and place a hand on his cheek, leaning in close and give him a little kiss on the cheek. You murmur tenderly "I love you too, Hagiel. But I've also gotta live my own life. You mentioned that there were several astartes who were trained in helping with mental stuff, yeah? I really think that you should arrange for an appointment to talk to one of them. It might help with your anxiety."
"Astartes feel no fear." Hagiel quipped, a small smile appearing on his face.
You tug on a stray lock of his hair "Don't give me that, I know for a fact that's not true. You may have been trained out of the base instinctual responses to fear that we humans have, but that doesn't mean that you can't feel fear. It's partially a chemical response to danger after all. That doesn't just stop happening, just because you're a seven foot tall fridge of a man."
He pouts at you, though he does lean into your touch, his eyes partially closing "... I suppose that is true." He doesn't remember all of the training that he went through, as was likely by design. He hugs you, his eyes closing as he leans into your touch.
Your heart softens further, and a sigh leaves you. You'd given yourself extra time before you had to leave in order to get to lunch with your friends as you figured you'd need to remind Hagiel of these boundaries and also give him the reassurance that did seem to help the underlying anxiety that caused him to try to hide you away from the world and the many potential dangers that it held. Your other hand comes up to gently scratch at the top of his head for a couple of minutes.
Your phone alarm goes off, as you knew it would, loud enough for you to hear, but not so loud as to startle Hagiel. "Alright, love. I've got to you. I will see you when I get back from lunch, alright? Have fun painting."
Hagiel's grip on your waist tightens "Bonded..." He whines softly.
"Hagiel, are you going to make me ask you to let me go?" You ask, voice firm. You're not going to let him win this. You were very clear on your boundaries and are trying to not let him get away with trying to circumvent them.
A low, sad whine leaves Hagiel's chest as his grip on you slowly loosens. "... No, I'd rather you not." He sighs, slowly letting you go entirely.
You reward him by giving him a light kiss on the cheek before saying "Thank you for being reasonable about this, Hagiel. I know that you're trying. I'll swing by that dumpling shop on my way home that I know that you really like, as I know they're a good snack for you while you're painting."
"Thank you love." He answers, still pouting a little, but he doesn't try to grab for you. Which is progress, at least.
"You're welcome." You answer as you head out, after double-checking that you had everything that you needed before you left to go eat with your friends, humming softly to yourself. You're looking forward to it.
