I'm gonna reply to more shit tomorrow after I watch the last episode of Free! I have not lost faith in Rei nope
Nagisa tilted his head, why was Rei acting so strange? It was just a hug, a simple affectionate gesture. “Does Rei-chan not like hugs?” He pouted his lips but quickly brought them back into a friendly smile. Maybe Rei just needed more hugs.
He vigorously nodded his head, looking forward to his tutoring session with his swimming companion. “That sounds great Rei-chan! I’ll see you at swim practice then?” He nudged his arm playfully before hurrying off to his next class with a grin plastered on his face. It would be nice to hang out with his new friend outside of school he thought.
{♧}- Rei shook his head. "No! I-..! I don't know. I don't receive hugs very often, it's not something I'm used to.. especially from another boy!" He shouted defensively. Why did he offer to help out Nagisa in the first place? He could have simply brushed off the comment about him doing terrible and math, then continued on as usual. It could not have been empathy pulling at the strings of his heart; no, Rei could not recall a single time where he struggled in any of his courses. It was just.. the desire to help out a friend. This is what it feels like to care about the wellbeing of others, he supposed. In response to his next question, the boy replied with a simple nod of the head before disappearing into the bustling hallway traffic.
Sighing deeply and adjusting his red frames, Rei grasped onto the green straps on both sides of his shoulders, mentally preparing himself for what he had agreed to do. In all honesty, he had no idea what to expect from Nagisa. He might take their study session seriously, or treat it as if it were just any average after school hangout. Though the latter sounded much more simpler, he wasn't there to fool around. Rei truly wanted the blond to work hard, even if it meant pushing him just a bit. As the two got off the train and finished their meaningless conversation, Rei led the way to his house. "My parents will not be home, and I was not expecting visitors. Please pardon the mess." He stated apologetically before opening the door to reveal a seemingly pristine home. "My room is the first door. You can make yourself comfortable while I prepare a snack".

I'M GONNA BE ACTIVE ON REI AGAIN I SWEAR I JUST NEED TO CATCH UP ON FREE! AND MAKE SOME MORE ICONS
Rin merely chuckled at the response he received, not expecting the butterfly to actually admit to a possible loss. He expected him to be like the others, spouting of how there was no way they would lose to Samezuka. It was amusing when he thought about it, because he indeed was the smartest one of the group. The conversation hadn’t annoyed him either, surprisingly.
Tilting his head a bit, the shark smirked, an amused expression on his face as he continued to listen to Rei speak. He was one of the ones who stuck to theory, it seemed. He met a few people like that in Australia. They were terrible at first but after practicing and putting theory into action, they were actually some pretty good swimmers. “If you guys do end up winning?" he repeated in question, looking like he was actually thinking about it. Would that even be a possibility? It didn’t seem likely but there always was that 0.001% chance of anything happening.
Rin merely shrugged, eyes closed in a relaxed position as he replied. “I’ll just have to keep practicing until I can beat Haru. If I can’t beat him, then there’s no way I can become an Olympic swimmer like I want to be."
{♧}- "Really?" Rei asked rhetorically, taken aback by Rin's sudden mood changes. It appeared as if the boy could go from cocky to furious, then furious to amused in a matter of seconds. Still, he always carried around a demeanor that just seemed.. off? Despite being an apparent enemy of the Iwatobi swim club, he was an interesting character. "What is this obsession you have with beating Haruka-senpai? Why is he in particular holding you back so much. I'm sure you're an exceptional swimmer in your own way." He had to be, considering the amount of confidence he had in Iwatobi's inevitable defeat. "So, why is beating him so important to you?"
♒ ;; A lap was made before the blue-haired male surfaced from the liquid once again, taking in a good breath of air after swimming enough distance from them both, but still okay to hear the words spoken clearly.
"It’s not always about challenge though," Haruka replied as he gazed at the other who was now out of the water but not entirely. He should see the other side of things or else, he’d end up like ‘that person’, even though Haruka knew that it was for reasons he didn’t know but… Rei should learn to have fun about it anyway, the same way ‘he’ used to do the same, even more than himself many years ago.
Blue eyes blinked at the other set of orbs. The swimmer never had the intention to sound like a genius or a prodigy; after all, another three years, and it’d be an end for him—to be ordinary.
"I’m not saying that it’s effortless; people are tend to work hard for everything they do so that they could improve… Don’t think," he simply retorted, seeing that it was the problem with the Kouhai. "Feel."
"… It’s…" Insert dramatic pause for a few seconds before he spoke, “I forgot."
That was the truth; or rather, he didn’t like to relive the past for a moment, knowing that if he did, he’d be encountering those certain moments again. Moments lost with bonds gone, too.
"It hurts," Haruka mumbled afterwards, as he looked down at his reflection in the water; a hand raised to grab the sore spot he felt.
{♧}- "That's true.. but I think a good challenge without getting overly-competitive is a healthy stimulant for the brain. A bit of stress is a good thing." Rei said, using his towel to wipe away a few droplets of water on his forehead that managed to escape from the tips of his hair.
"But it seems that way for you.." He replied to Haruka's comment about regarding effort. Someone with such talent and beauty in his style could not have achieved that with strictly practice. There was something almost prodigy-like in Haruka, and Rei greatly envied that fact.
He nodded at Haruka's short response. "Forgive me if it sounded like I was prying into your personal life. My curiosity got the best of my judgement, gomen." Rei said in response, bowing his head slightly in order to focus on the tiny waves that Haru's movements had caused. His head shot up once more though at the other boy's last words. "Huh? What hurts?!"
Math wasn’t exactly everyone’s best subject, unlike Rei. Nagisa for instance excelled in history, he found it so much more interesting than a cluster of numbers and equations. Hearing Rei’s words caused his lips to form a small pout. "Math really isn’t that confusing. I’m sure you’d be able to figure it out if you tried hard enough." But that was the problem, no matter how much Nagisa tried to understand these foreign concepts, he just couldn’t grasp them. Nagisa started giving Rei the puppy dog eyes, in hopes that he would help him. Plus it would mean they could spend more time together outside of school and swim club!
Nagisa’s eyes lit up once Rei changed his mind. “R-really Rei-chan?!" He could hardly contain his excitement as he threw his arms around the other, giving him a ‘thank you’ hug. Of course they were still in school which meant this scene was sure to get a few looks from passerby. “You’re a life saver haha!"
{♧}- Rei's cheeks reddened at the sudden gesture of gratefulness Nagisa gave him. He awkwardly shimmied out of the hug and cleared his throat. "Well.. you don't have to make a scene over it!" The bluenette's voice rose in tone as he covered his mouth. He felt rather odd about the hug simply because it took him by surprise. At least, that is what he believed. He couldn't remember the last time someone showed him such outward affection and gratitude. It was a nice feeling, to say the least, but Rei would never admit that. "We might as well start as soon as possible. The longer we wait, the tougher it will be to teach you as you acquire new information throughout your math course this year. We have swim practice today, but I'm sure it won't be too long. I suggest we go to my house once it's finished, since I have most of my math notes there. Will that work for you, Nagisa-kun?"
“Mm hm! It has a decent view too! Not many people eat up there aside from some of the swim team members and one or two of my classmates, so it’s pretty peaceful up there” she commented as they ascended up the stairwell. “I’m actually surprised that so few people come up here to be honest … ” she shrugged a bit as they stopped at the entryway, it was their loss, she supposed. Yet without much prompting, and quite out of the blue, the dark-haired boy seemed to begin muttering to himself something about … angles? Gou couldn’t really hear much, but she figured it was some form of mental calculations. “A-anou … “ the sentence died off as she could only watch as the gears in Rei’s head turned. Was all this necessary? The thought couldn’t help but escape her mind, then again … she wasn’t the one who possessed the mental capacity of a super computer– and even if she did, she doubted that she’d even think of using such a thing to calculate an eating location. She let out a small sigh, it must be great to have a brain like that—it would certainly clear out a lot of her worries if that were her case.
When it appeared that he had finished his mental calculations, she slowly followed him to the spot he had indicated at. “So… how’s swimming coming along for you?” she questioned as they slowly approached the location, the past several failed attempts in the previous days … certainly were rather lacking in terms of progress. She could only remain optimistic though. His form and knowledge were there … but for some reason time after time resulted in the same thing. Granted, it was as amusing as it was puzzling, but they couldn’t keep on wasting time.
{♧}- "Ah, well you're right about the fact that there are not too many people around. Strange.. you'd think a place like this would attract the attention of most students.." Rei mused. He quickly shrugged off the thought before settling down on the ground and resting his back against a wall. "You're most likely questioning my tactics pertaining to figuring out the ideal area to eat. Combining simple math and the possible weather forecast today, the task was fairly easy. We can't enjoy our lunch in a spot that's too sunny, and I'd rather not waste my time worrying about the heat when we're in such a calm area." The boy explained, opening up the small box to reveal the contents of his bento. It was rare that he ever got to truly enjoy his own lunch; the vultures at his usual table always insisted on picking at his food or trading him for a meal of lesser value.
"Swimming?! It's... getting better every day, I believe." Rei effortlessly lied through his teeth. In all honesty, he felt as if he were making no progress at all, but that was something that he was not yet ready to admit, especially to Gou. Anyone with a brain could tell how much she worried for the wellbeing of the team. She was a hard worker; always pushing the boys to do their best. The redhead was even able to convince Rei that they might just have a chance of winning the tournament coming up. "What about you? I'm sure your job isn't the easiest. Watching over four teenaged males and managing to keep them attentive does not sound like a dream role for anyone. You.. seem to be handling it well though."
Well, there are less people who can understand those sayings, and considering that he was taught by his grandmother most of the time thus the adapted words. “Considering that your knowledge is as it is, then I have nothing else to teach you." He replied, feeling a bit relieved to see their new member swimming successfully. Haruka is very confident that Rei can outdo himself on the pool one of these days. The other just need…what was that again? the right guidance to stir him in the right direction…was it?
{♧}- "Nothing else to teach me? Then I guess I'm at the pinnacle of my swimming career." Rei replied with sarcastic enthusiasm. His features softened a bit before speaking again. "Arigatou, Haruka-senpai. You may not realize this, but one of the biggest reasons I joined the swim club in the first place was you. It is truly an honor to swim with you all." The words slipped from his mouth so effortlessly, words that he'd never be able to say to someone like Nagisa. Rei was not one for sentimentality, and appreciated Haru's apathy towards just about everything he said.

I'll be getting on my replies tomorrow. I'm so drained today and I feel like I should focus on my other muses too sigh.
With a kindhearted smile, crimson orbs met the boy’s deep violet ones, “Konnichiwa,” she echoed his words, followed by a light bow of acknowledgement. “There’s no need to apologize, I was the one being careless,” she admitted, as she shook her head to herself; daydreaming was just one of those habits she had picked up recently. There were many ‘what if’s floating around in her head; different ideas and resulting in different action plans. Part of her told it was a waste of time thinking of scenarios of what could play out before even acting upon them—trivial thoughts of a silly girl. But the other half simply told her, it was probably better to keep options open than follow a straight path; as they say it was far more interesting going down the road less traveled.
At the sound of the next words that came from the male, she nodded slowly—taking note of the slightly flustered Rei, but paid it no heed. Some people were more reserved than others, and probably needed more time to come out of their shell, she figured. While she didn’t really know him that well before his joining the club, she had a pretty good judgment of his character from their sparse interaction—he was quiet but calculated, composed, yet also had a whimsical side. He didn’t really strike her as the extroverted type, which was completely fine—it was nice to see different sides of different people after all. “Yup!” she grinned in response, glancing down at the boy’s own hand, which held a boxed lunch; something that mirrored what was in her own. Was he going to eat lunch on the rooftop as well? Well, that was the only logical reason, it was lunchtime after all and he did say he was headed off to the roof so it didn’t take a genius to put two and two together, “If you want, would you like to eat together?” she offered with a smile.
{♧}- Rei tilted his head, mouth slightly agape at her knowledge of what he was about to ask. "Uh.." He panicked, not exactly sure why the offer was so shocking to him. "Ah, hai!" The boy nodded, voice almost reaching a shouting tone. "I- I mean, I guess that would be fine.." He adjusted his glasses and began to walk up the stairs, not bothering to wait for Gou to catch up with him. He recollected his calm demeanor during the short walk, and tucked the box under his right arm. "I've never eaten up here, but I assume it's.. relaxing?" He made an attempt at starting a casual conversation to ease the tension that only Rei himself could feel. "I've been a little bit on edge lately, what with swimming and pole vaulting. I just thought I could use a break from everyone at my usual lunch spot." He explained, stopping at the entryway to the roof to scan his surroundings. "With the sun currently in the northeast, use 'a' as the measure of degrees and 'p' as our current position. The sun will be moving counterclockwise, causing the shade to gradually disappear. Sitting on the right side would give us shade for the first half of our lunch period, but leave us drenched in the sunlight minutes later. Sitting on the left would do just the opposite. Moving thirty-five feet at a forty-two degrees angle though would make-..." He paused to catch his breath and figure out the answer to his formula. Rei's words were spoken in a low voice and came out a bit jumbled, but he understood them perfectly. "that spot right over there an ideal area to eat lunch." He pointed to a single area before walking towards it.

In other news, I made a Haruhi Fujioka floater and it’d be cool if you followed wink wink
The water dripping down his body, the towel, the soaking wet hair—! In another one of her dazes, the manager started muttering the muscles over and over again, fawning over each and every one. Bodies - muscles in particular - seemed much more eye-worthy when water was dripping down them. “Ah—" Shaking off the trance she was in, the female raised a fist, coughing into it, excusing herself. “I’m pleased to hear that! Yu were the only one in the group that tended to do that.." Well— Haruka seemed to embarrass his fellow teammates whenever he stripped in public, however the bluenet seemed to have more of an effect on them.
"Good! You guys need to get any practice you can get in! You especially! You just learned how to swim, but I doubt you’ll be able to keep up with the rest. I may have you race against Nagisa-kun or Makoto-kun to record your time so we can work on getting you to swim faster."
{♧}- Rei pulled the towel off from around his neck and slung it over one shoulder, watching in somewhat confusion as the redhead was in her very own daze. It wasn't until his sudden remembrance of Gou's infatuation with the male body did he realize why her eyes were gleaming with utter joy. His only option was to just stand there, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. "So I realized.." He mumbled in reaction to her second comment. "I can assure you that it will not happen again though." Rei emphasized his point from his last reply.
"With just a little more practice, I'm confident that I will be able to match up with the other guys of the team-.. but not right now!" His tone immediately changed from calm and collected to completely flustered. "I'm not in the right state to be racing! It's already obvious that those two will easily beat me by a long shot. I really do not think my time needs to be recorded just yet." The boy laughed nervously.

♒ ;; Seconds later, and the blue-haired swimmer surfaced from the water after his jump; he flipped his hair back and forth, then nodded slightly to let the other know of his acknowledgement before kicking off to float around in the cold, clear liquid.
"It’s something you dive with your heart," Haruka reminded him nonchalantly with eyes shut, catching what the other told him even though interrupted by his sudden, intruding action. Must he had excused himself first? Well, he was here already; there was no need for that any more, wasn’t it. Ocean-shaded orbs opened slightly to meet the skies, which would turn dark soon, and directing himself toward the new member, Haruka floated near him, and spoke.
"… To swim," he replied, wherein reality, he was there to check the other, seeing that he was finally putting effort into swimming when he first learned how to. Hopefully, Rei might be able to learn the reality of it, not just the way it was being done, and Haruka was here to witness that. At least, the water disliked him a little now, not like before when it purposefully let the other drown and immobilized within it.
The blue-haired lad even continued, “It’s never too late for me to do this anyway" before he changed positions to actually take a swim by landing into the liquid with his front body, and arms extended to start swimming to the pool’s end.
{♧}- "You make it sound like it's such an effortless task. For someone so used to using their intelligence to accomplish just about everything, it's a challenge." Rei sighed, not daring to admit defeat just yet. Propping himself up on the edge of the pool and allowing his feet to stay enclosed in the crystal water, the pulled his goggles completely off his face in order to replace them with his usual, red frames.
"Yeah, I can tell." Rei smiled, knowing Haruka's infatuation with the water was something that could not be denied. He was always the first one in the pool, and the last one out, never leaving his home unless a bathing suit was under his outfit. Rei found it admirable; how passionate one person could be about something that seemed so mere to others.
"Hey, Haruka-senpai, how did you get into swimming in the first place?"
mizu-no-iruka said: If he could only say ‘wow’ at the first year’s dedication to perfection then Haruka might have. Well, at least the fifth member of their team finally learned how to swim. “Just follow your heart." The boy said, with nothing else in mind.
{♧}- "Your vague, sentimental sayings are getting bothersome." He stated in a playful tone. Gradually, Rei was somewhat starting to understand what Haruka meant with his odd statements pertaining to water; dive in with your soul, not with your brain. Sadly, it was easier said than done though.
"Well whatever the reason." Rin frowned, glancing the other up and down. He didn’t know how to swim. How the heck did Haruka get this guy on his team again? They massacred the practice races so he wondered just how bad they would do in the tournaments when it came down to it. The boy here said he learned to swim in a week? Just the butterfly stroke didn’t exactly cut it though. Knowing only that didn’t technically make him a good swimmer in Rin’s eyes anyway.
Another sport though? No wonder he wasn’t good at swimming. “And what sport would that be?" he asked, finding himself sightly curious. How had Haru, Makoto, and Nagisa have convinced someone playing another sport to join their pitiful little swim team?
{♧}- "Inquisitive, are we? Well, if you must know, I run track, and practice pole vaulting. It takes plenty of concentration and balance, so I have no problem in the stamina department. My form is practically perfect, but it is a bit difficult to swim when you in fact can't swim at all." Rei confessed, right hand reaching backwards to awkwardly rub the nape of his own neck. "I know winning the tournament is currently out of the question in the shape we're in. So, thinking realistically, I anticipate a loss, but we'll have plenty of chances to redeem ourselves. What about you though? What will you do if by some spectacular miracle, Iwatobi does end up winning?"
"So, I assume you've been swimming for a while, hm?" He turned the topic around to a different topic.
