Confusion spread across her face as Stefan spoke. There was no teasing tone to his voice, no sarcastic undertone that showed he was playing with her. Either he was an incredible actor, or he was unaware of who she and his beloved Elena was. Rebekah could play this one of two ways. She could ignore Stefan, and tell him to go shove that drink up his arse, or she could play along, and be the focus of his affection for a night. At one point the choice would have been clear, but she had left all thoughts of Stefan and their previous love behind when she had left Mystic falls, and she wasn’t sure if she was strong enough to go down that path again.Â
"While hearing you give me permission to stake Elena is music to my ears, seeing her again would damper my mood." Pushing her blonde locks behind her shoulder, Rebekah looked around the crowded streets for anyone she might know, specifically Marcel or Klaus, before looking back at Stefan. "Do you really not recognize me? Was the Bennet witch attempting a new spell that backfired?"
Resisting the urge to roll his eyes he just offered another smile and shook his head. "Again I don't know who this Elena is so I mean honestly, go push her down the stairs or smother her or something, I don't think I really care," he admitted easily with a shrug. It made him wonder what the girl had done to the blonde in front of him. Well he assumed it was a girl, it could of course be a man, he wasn't about to judge name choices. He had been picking his name on a daily basis so he wasn't in a position to get weird about it. Although Stefan did have a ring to it. Almost sounded foreign, he could handle that.
"Trust me if I had a choice in remembering you I would if I could," was added with the same ounce of truth as his other statement. "You aren't a face I would want to forget," his eyes lingered for a moment as they were locked with her's before he moved to turn. "Look, I don't know who this Bennet person is either but I really hope it is a last name. Seems weird as a first," the words were said as he turned complete to move towards a bar before stopping and looking at her again. "So, now that we have established that I really don't remember you but I do like the name Stefan and fully intend on keeping it. How about that drink," he finally questioned again with a mischievous tone to his words. She interested him, he kinda had to know more about her.Â
