..................... so the pandemic hit me and i dove head first into depression and baking banana bread like everyone else and the fic just stopped...... it's been over a year and i want to get back into it......... are we still into reading it???

So I was aiming for 1k words or less with these prompts but this one ran away from me at 1392 so, we’ll pretend I didn’t give myself rules.
Honestly, Kie thought these kinds of party games were stupid. She had always done so, ever since she was thirteen and she didn’t know if she wanted to kiss girls or boys or both. But here she was, eighteen and drunk, the chateau living room lit up with cotton candy pink lights and the empty vodka bottle in the middle of the circle was pointing to JJ fucking Maybank.
Well, shit.
There was a cheap and hardly working disco light on the coffee table and it flashed over her friends faces, each showing different expressions of shock and utter amusement in aquamarine and violent yellow. ‘Cause the blonde boy had a smile that was playing on his lips and he tried to hide it behind the neck of his beer bottle. The rest of the party jeered and hollered, too many teenage bodies pressed into such a small space and Kie swore she could smell the hormones through the mix of island heat and tequila.
Sarah Cameron’s need for a themed party and her boyfriend’s ability to procure a keg had turned the chateau into a bubblegum pink treasure cove of all things Valentine’s day, hearts and fairy lights dripping from every corner and there was an overflow of alcohol in the kitchen that even JJ had nodded at, impressed.
Now, the blonde girl was pointedly avoiding Kiara’s scowl, her nose in her cup of something that had glitter and rose petals floating in it. But the crowd was getting impatient and had started chanting ‘seven minutes, seven minutes’, so when JJ stood up from the messy circle they’d formed in the middle of the room, Kie’s heart lurched and threatened to fall into her stomach.
From across the room, John B grinned and held up his phone, a timer waiting to be started on the screen.
Fuck.
She ignored the huffs of two girls who sat next to her, a kook she knew from her old ballet classes and her touron friend who had both been making eyes at JJ the whole night. When the blonde boy made his way towards her with a grin she knew all too well, she slapped her hand into his own when he offered it to her and let him pull her up from where she sat on the floor.
Shit.
The bathroom door clicked softly behind Kie and she was almost grateful for the way the thin piece of wood shut out the harsh lights and the intense bass from the speakers Pope had brought over. Although it was faint, they could just hear John B yell something about starting the timer and for the first time since the fucking bottle had landed on him, Kie properly looked at JJ.
He looked flushed, looked how she felt and the sight made her mouth go a little dry, made her lips part and her fingers clench in her palms. Fuck, fuck, fuck. They had kept the bathroom lights off, chose that room rather than the boy’s bedrooms ‘cause shit, they all knew what happened during these games and no one was offering their mattress up to the horniest demographic of Kildare.
“We don’t have to do anything, you know,” JJ murmured, his eyes shining from what little light the moon let in. His pupils were blown wide, from weed, from beer, Kie didn’t know. A small part of her thought it could have been from the thought of kissing her.
She chewed on her lip, took a step back from the boy as if he was trouble, as if he was dangerous. Fuck, maybe he was. ‘Cause he was looking at her with a challenge in his eyes and a grin on his lips that was achingly familiar. It was a smile that had told her to jump, it wasn’t that high, that they wouldn’t get caught, c’mon Kie, throw off your chains.
“Who said I wanted to do anything?” She countered back, but she knew her words sounded weak ‘cause the boy grinned harder and before she knew it, her back was against the sink and the ceramic felt cool against the bare skin between her shorts and crop top.
“No one,” he reassured her, leaning against the tiles on the opposite wall. But the bathroom was tiny and his long legs were stretched out in front of him, his blue eyes on her and his smile lazy and a little drunk, “I just didn’t think you were one to step down from a dare, Kie.”
Kiara’s breath left her in a huff and fuck, she couldn’t stop looking at JJ’s lips. He was grinning because he fucking knew and Kie wanted to swear at him, wanted to push her way out the door and keep going until she was standing by the marshes out front and swallowing cool, fresh air that wasn’t mixed with vodka and smoke.
She wanted to press herself into the boy, push herself onto her toes and let her bottom lip melt between his own, and wanted to feel how soft his hair would be pulled between her fingers.
Shit.
“It’s not a dare,” Kie murmured and god, her heart was racing. Could he hear it? Could he feel it bounce off of the tiles, mix with the bass that leaked from underneath the door? “It’s a stupid game.”
JJ nodded, thoughtful and he pushed himself off of the wall, took the two small steps that were needed for him to appear in front of the girl. God, he was close, he was so close. He lifted a stray curl that had escaped from her bun, tucked it behind her ear and tried to keep his eyes off of her lips, but shit, it was hard.
When he spoke, it was in a whisper and the words fell across Kie’s lips like a sin, like something unholy, like a secret no one would ever know about.
“Hey, Kie?” JJ bent his head a little, just enough to bring his mouth to her ear, to let the tip of his nose press into her temple, into her curls. His lips barely brushed over her, his words sending electric shocks through her bones.
She hummed in response, felt blindly for the edge of the sink behind her and curled her hands around it, as if it would hold her up, as if it would save her.
“You don’t mind if I kiss you, do you?”
Honestly, Kie could only shake her head before her hands found the boy’s jaw and she was pulling him down to kiss her with the same enthusiasm he was pressing into her with. As if they both knew that somewhere in the living room, amongst smoke and lights and impatient bodies, there was a timer that was telling them they only had three and a half minutes left.
So they kissed like they’d done it before, practised and easy and achingly familiar. It set a fire alight inside of the girl and she groaned and obeyed when the boy became impatient, brought his hand to cup at her cheek, used his thumb to tug at her bottom lip and lick into her.
Then there were hands around her thighs, trailing to her knees, pulling her up to sit on the sink she’d brushed her teeth at that very morning, and god, she moaned. Kie let the music and JJ’s lips swallow the sound and he sighed into her, into their kiss when he wrapped his hand around her hips and pulled her into him. The girls hands found his hair and she threaded her fingers into the sun bleached strands and pulled like she’d spent all night wanting to. All fucking year.
The groan she got in response was worth the wait and she hitched her leg higher on his hip, grinned against his lips, messy and delighted when JJ whined and grabbed at her thigh, held her to him like he didn’t ever wanna let go.
Then someone (John fucking B) hammered on the bathroom door, held a screaming timer up to the wood and told them to put their clothes back on. Kie hated the way she had to pull the strap of her top back onto her shoulder, loved the way JJ ran a hand through his wild hair and fought to catch his breath.
