3 Reasons to Ditch Jars

Is your makeup/moisturizer made from vegetables that you farmed during Ye Annuale Harvest Thyme that you’ve preserved for the long, dark winter months to keep from starving?

So why do you keep buying these damn jars? Jars are great for pickles, not for face cream. Let’s walk through this together.

1. Jars are gross

Brace yourself. Your fingers are dirty. Seriously dirty. They’ve been all over the place all day and I am not going to talk about what you do with them in detail (ew). Whatever is on your fingers is going to end up in that jar sitting on and in your expensive-ass product, growing mold and all kinds of shit. Then, you’re gonna scoop it up on another dirty finger day and rub it all over your beautiful face.

Don’t. Do. That. Shit.

Know what else? The air in your bathroom isn’t so nice either. Let’s say I’m worried about dust. Yeah… because the airborne... dust... in your bathroom is the gross part. (I’m talking about the literal shit that’s flung into your bathroom every time you flush the damn toilet.) You want that sitting and fermenting in your cute little recyclable jar of $50 face cream?

Please say no.

2. Jars are wasteful

Okay, so you’ve decided to still shove your fingers into that jar of goop you bought. How much of that is actually making it onto your face and how much are you trying to scrape back off later? You’re washing your money down the drain every time you clean your fingers off. That jar is stealing from you. It’s set up so that you’re taking more than you need so you have to buy more sooner.

And don’t even pretend you can get all of that shit out from the seam between the base and the sides of the jar. No one believes you, Becky.

3. Jars destroy your product

Products have limited lifespans. Know the best ways to hurry your makeup / skincare products into an early grave? Exposing them to light, air, and water.

Know what jars (especially clear jars) expose the shit you bought to? Light, air, and fucking water. Does toothpaste come in jars? Hell no. Shit stays minty fresh in that beautiful tube.

When you buy jars you’re putting shit on your face that is 1. gross af, 2. smoothing dirt and bathroom debris all over your face, 3. half flushed down the drain or impossible to get to, and 4. expiring way sooner than you think.
