#Music is 20 today. It’s safe to say that this is the album that made me a fan. In 2001 I attended a private school and I had to take the bus to get there. The school bus was very fancy; there was a television, and it was very comfortable and spacious. Plenty of room to do your forgotten homework, at least. All the seniors would sit in the back, and all the primary schoolers would get off at the end of the trip giggling from the weed fumes. I always did my best to snag the seat 6 rows from the back, left side, window. Directly under one of the speakers. The triumvirate of the singles released from the album stayed in the top 20 and on high radio rotation for that entire year. Music, Don’t Tell Me, and What It Feels Like For A Girl are sonically embedded in my brain. Every note, every effect, every beat, every detail. Never before had I heard such interesting textures.
