It's just the proof within the soup, that with the right ingredients, respect for each other can make a successful relationship, and that's where the fun begins in true love." - My Great Grandmother Every influential woman of my life has been divorced. My mother, grandmother, sister. Each of them have a different story with different heart breaks, or stories of breaking hearts. Each of these three women have taught me many things and I respect each of them in many different ways. To most it would seem a mother would be the one a daughter would idolize, the one she looks up to for guidance into adulthood and advice on life and also love. These many topics have been covered by the two women who spent their lives raising me. My sister and my grandma (Nana). But the woman I idolize the most in all my life and have learned the most about love from is my great grandma. Though these other women in my life had failed marriages, the way my Grandma Spangler lived her life, it was with nothing but grace. She married my great grandpa when she was 18 and was married to him until the day he passed away. She have him three children, two daughters and a son. She stood at his side through thick and through thin and raised their children on the old Taylor Farm, my family's homestead. (Which still stands to date) Now I never gotten chance to meet my great grandpa because he passed before I was born but I can tell you this, when you loose the only love of your whole entire life, many people grow bitter and begin to reject the world. Not a day in my life did I ever see my Grandma Spangler genuinely mad about anything. Never seen her hold a grudge or make a dirty look. It doesn't mean she did it miss my great grandpa. I'm certain she missed him every day of her life but I what I loved the most about her, was her eyes. Any time of day, I could see peace within her eyes. Peace with life. Not just that she had made peace with the fact that her love had passed. She had deep faith within her God, and she never forced her thoughts upon her children or the world. In her eyes I could see her heart and all that she kept dear. In all honestly I miss the solitude that was present while she was in the room. She would glow with radiance and I felt God even more when I was around her as if he was within her, like she was an angel handmade from god for our family. She built my family, she was our back bone, our nest, and our heart. She taught us each that home is where ever you plant your garden. When the plants grow love is born. My family knows that because of this we can find home within eachother, no matter the circumstance. Even with the rising divorce rate in this nation and seeing some of the most important relationships around me crumble, and even though my great grandma has gone and passed, I have genuine faith in a happy heart, the potential of true love and a successful marriage.
