āWhile researching her book [,āMeg, Jo, Beth, and Amy: The Story of Little Women and Why It Still Mattersā, Anne Boyd] Rioux was shocked to hear teachers say that Little Women 'was a book for girls to read in private,ā and not appropriate for school syllabi. What this says about the American literary canon is that it is still perpetuating a dismissive attitude not only about women writers, but also about the importance of women and girls as human beings. Itās also failing to tell boys that it is okay to invest in stories about girlsā lives. This kind of closed-mindedness overlooks the fact that there is much for boys and men to learn about love, relationships, friendships, and rejection. Couldnāt Americaās toxic masculinity and rape culture be treated with a healthy dose of teaching Little Women in schools? When Jo denies Laurie her hand in marriage, she imparts important lessons for all childrenāthat girls are allowed to say no, and that boys are allowed to feel sad, and can recover from rejection. Despite many feminist scholarsā disdain for the wedding at the bookās end, Little Women is a feminist book. Alcott wrestles with the limitations and expectations of women at the time, and gives each of the four sisters and Marmee individual identities and myriad dimensions. [ā¦] The attitude that Little Women is somehow limited in its offerings is representative of how female-character-driven novels are treated in generalātheyāve become relegated, ignored, and treated with a lack of seriousness. This same treatment carries over to how girls and women are treated. And that should make us as angry as Marmee. If we want this to change, we have to start by fighting for this work to be treated like the great American novel it is. Little Women is genius.ā

I just wanna say....to everyone.....drawing Lestat..........with straight hair........w...whatās wrong with u
i loved the way Cody Fern looked in that wig in the first episodes but cmon the season was extremely bad .
Life after A Star Is Born:
Anyone: *opens mouth to speak to me* Me: IāM OFF THE DEEP END WATCH AS I DIVE IN IāLL NEVER MEET THE GROUND
*sees any handsome man with long blonde hair* wowā¦ā¦. heās a perfect lestat,
Whats a bootleg ive never hearda those
Sometimes I hate that I love Lestat
Because the Lestat I love isnāt the one Anneās interested in writing. The Lestat I love isnāt an infallible, untouchable prince whom everyone falls in love with at first sight. Heās a fuckup who never stops trying.Ā
I love the Lestat who came out of an abusive home and still wanted desperately that there was good in the world, and that he could be a good person. Who wanted to make people happy and who was desperately in love with his depressed as fuck proto-hipster boyfriend. Who lived as a queer man without shame.Ā
I love the Lestat who had panic attacks about death and the unknowable enormity of the universe.
I love the Lestat who was a victim and a survivor, who was moved not to exert his power over others but make sure they didnāt suffer like he had.Ā
I love the Lestat who tried to take care of his loved ones even when he was spectacularly bad at it, who wore his heart sincerely on his sleeve and lived in terror of his loved ones throwing him away because they didnāt need him anymore.Ā
I rooted for the Lestat who realized the enormity of the wrongs he did to Louis by keeping him ignorant and by indulging his need to be needed. I loved the Lestat who was willing to show all of his fears and his fuckups in print, when his whole life had been dedicated to pretending he was untouchable, just to apologize to the man he loved.Ā
I loved a Lestat who was allowed to be wrong, to be punished, to be humbled and rejected and keep going. Whose bravado and bluster was a cover for a sincere heart, not a hard and empty shell. The Lestat I love isnāt a rapist, an autocrat, a power hungry monster. He had countless flaws, but he was meant to fix them, not wait around for the universe to concoct a reason why his bad behavior and disregard for othersā agency is okay.Ā
I donāt know where that Lestat went. But I miss him.Ā
Armand and Daniel from The Vampire Chronicles.Ā
Finally drew something before I forget how toā¦
ok, are we like sure they didn't just mess up the title of ahs apocalypse and it's just an early release of the vampire chronicles tv show BC MICHAEL LANGDON IS SO LESTAT I CAN'T EVEN??????
My name is Langdon, and I represent The Cooperative.
ok he is literally Lestat.
DONT GET ME WRONG
i love the stage version ofĀ ādo ya hear the ppl singā A LOT. like when feuilly sings his part and heās standing on top of the steps and the golden light filters in from above him as he singsĀ āthe blood of the martyrs will water the meadows of france!ā, THAT is some GOOD SHIT.Ā
but also please imagine that we had stuck with the original concept albumās idea of basically makingĀ ādo u hear the ppl singā Enjolrasā fucking SOLOĀ
Like can you IMAGINE the DRAMA of it all?? like right after āred & blackā, right after they finally get Marius to chill out for a second and remember the task at hand, right after they find out that Lamarque is dead, and right after Enj decides that they will TAKE TO THE STREETS WITH NO DOUBT IN THEIR HEARTS, the stage clears and itās just Enjolras alone and he starts SINGING TO THE AUDIENCE, THIS PERSONAL VOW OF HOW HE WILL GIVE HIS LIFE TO THIS CAUSE. and when the chorus comes in, thereās just an echo of voices, like the souls of all of the past, present, and future martyrs are singing along with him
hot damn.Ā
thereās this line in the original DYHTPS that goes (roughly translated)Ā
To the will of the people,Ā I volunteer myself.Ā If it is necessary to die for her,Ā I want to be the firstĀ The first name carved on the marble of the monument of hope
likeā¦YEAH. that would make enjolras a way more dramatic character than he already is so SIGN ME THE FUCK UP
(Another) AU where Enjolras is the last of Les Amis, and he sits in the empty Musain like Marius, but instead of singing Empty Chairs At Empty Tables, he sings Do You Hear The People Sing?, voice cracking, tears streaming down his face, and him just falling apart when he sangĀ āthere was a life that was to start when tomorrow came.ā for the last time. The reality of what had gone down that day in the barricade became too much for him to bear.Ā As he went on in life, he sank deeper into his misery, and became the drunk critic like Grantaire had been. A new leader rose up who reminded Enjolras of what he used to be like.Ā They would meet in the Musain, and the leader would speak passionately about freedom, but Enjolras just sat in the back, hardly listening, remembering the time not so long ago that he could have shared that passion.
Did you hear the people sing? Singing the songs of angry men? It was the music of the people Who would not be slaves again! When the beating of their hearts Echoed the beating of the drums There was a life that was to start When tomorrow came.
They had joined in the crusade They had been strong and stood with me Somewhere beyond the barricade There was world they longed to see.
They joined in the fight That would give them the right to be free!
Did you hear the people sing? Singing the songs of angry men? It was the music of the people Who would not be slaves again! When the beating of their hearts Echoed the beating of the drums There was a life that was to start When tomorrow came.
They gave all they could give So that our banner could advance All would fall and none could live They stood up and took their chance! The blood of the martyrs Has watered the meadows of France!
Did you hear the people sing? Singing the songs of angry men? It was the music of the people Who would not be slaves again! When the beating of their hearts Echoed the beating of the drums There was a life that was to start When tomorrow came.
my heart is forever broken
in Empty Chairs At Empty Tables, when Marius sings "don't ask me" and his voice literally breaks a bit, I swear my heart is shattered.
Tbh, whenever Armand is furious or wants to fight someone this is what pops up in my mind:
and i feel horny for vampires on this blog tonight
why only one night when you can have forever
