Gifts are Ironic, they never come free
The only word that plagued (Y/N)’s mind.
It haunted them day and night, and revealed their paranoia. When (Y/N) felt the molten stare of the Cullen’s bore into their skin, it’s embers sunk into their skin and raised the hairs on the back of their neck. It confirmed what they already knew….
Edward had told his family the truth.
The truth that (Y/N) (L/N) was a telepath, who knew the existence of the Cullen coven. I turned Forks High-school into a labyrinth for the supernatural and the gifted. (Y/N) slithered around the corners of the halls, avoiding her very own fanged Minotaur. They were everywhere.
Biology she was stuck with Edward. Literature was plagued by the icy sneer of Rosalie, and Gym…
Lets just say Emmett and Gym was like a toddler finding a gun.
Somebody was bound to be hurt.
Despite this tension, all that came with it was glares. Mutually assured destruction was a valuable thing, but even (Y/N) knew something was coming. She need help.
“God! (Y/N), could you be anymore stupid?” Jessica bellowed, as she slammed the bedroom door behind her, as the sharp crack of wood and brick echoed in the frilly pink bedroom.
A monster on a mission, Jessica grumbled under her breath as she paced around the bedroom. Her frazzled hair seemed to sharpen into spikes, as she flared her pale arms in the air. Readying herself for a tangent, (Y/N) sat down on the bed. Jessica was still talking to herself, as (Y/N) threw away hordes of pungent pink pillows to make them feel comfortable. Jessica really had bad taste.
“What where you thinking? Threatening Edward Cullen! Threatening a vampire! I can’t-”
The lecture went on for some time, Jessica’s voice increasing every half an hour. Her body went more ridged, as if anger was consuming her inside out. Her fists tingeing and releasing often, aching to punch something. (Y/N) moved further up the bed. It was just rumour, that the Stanley’s had “anger issues”. Tyler Crowley’s car could vouch for that.
“I didn’t have any choice!” (Y/N) said, finally collapsing on the bed.
Jessica froze, and turned toward (Y/N).
“He….knew about me Jess…and that meant he could of found out about the rest of us.”
Jessica sighed deeply, pinching her nose in exasperation. She knew that (Y/N)’s actions had some merit, but couldn’t shake the panic plaguing her. If any vampire knew, that a whole family of gifted people existed in Fork….
It would end in a massacre.
They couldn’t afford another one, especially after Riley.
“I’m sorry, it’s just….this is the last thing we need. Vampires, and now with the La Push treaty”
“What about the treaty?” (Y/N) asked, pushing herself up the bed.
Jessica froze, and swore under her breath.
“It’s nothing, just some new developments,”
(Y/N) rose an eyebrow, and snorted. Jessica was always a bad liar. They got up from the bed, and turned Jessica towards them. Her whole body seemed to crumble as (Y/N) embraced her. Jessica’s head sat at (Y/N’s), as she opened her mouth.
A pregnant pause emerged.
“Shifters technically. Sam Uley changed a few months back, and now the tribe leaders no longer want our help,”
(Y/N) swore, realising the predicament they were now in. Without the tribe’s support, that left them more vulnerable to attack. It seems the family line was more vulnerable to attack.
“Just promise me,” Jessica asked, “That if worse comes to worse, you’ll be safe. I can’t loose you too,”
(Y/N) tightened her hold on Jessica, as they stood in the grey glare of the twilight moon. Silence hung among them for a while, as they kept each other close.
“Never,” (Y/N) replied. Both girls giggled and (Y/N) feel the depressing breath of melancholy leave her. However there was one question still on (Y/N’s) mind.
“Do you ever wish we weren’t special?”
Jessica sighed and let go of her cousin.
“Well you know what Grandma Birdie used to say…”
“Gifts are ironic. They never come free”
Their peace was broken by the echo of a car engine.
“Did you invite anyone?” Jessica whispered, crawling towards the window.
“As if I have any friends to invite over,” (Y/N) snapped. Jessica slowly crept towards the window, and hid behind it’s frame, raising a finger to her lips. Her bright pink top blended into her curtains, as she peeped outside the window. She zapped back towards her cousin.
“It’s Alice!” She hissed.
(Y/N’s) skin paled, as Jessica’s tight grip on the window frame made the glass crack. The air grew thick with fear, as Jessica hissed at (Y/N).
“It’s Alice Cullen! How did she find us? How does she even know where I live?”
“Maybe she found out from Mike,” (Y/N) snapped.
“Seriously? Right now you decide to bring that up-”
“Hello?” Alice called. “I’m looking for (Y/N) (L/N).”
Both girls stared at each other, and knew the other thought the same thing.
