Peter Hardin's Book Club, Book 4
I recently finished Claire Messud’s book The Woman Upstairs. The book was kind of a slow burn. Her writing is beautiful, intricate, and intense so it was a slower paced read because I felt like each sentence deserved fair bit of focus. That said, I think Messud’s attention to detail and character building is fantastic and I definitely want to read The Emperor’s Children now.

I went and saw the movie Still Alice yesterday. I read the book and really loved it (sat on my friend’s kitchen floor with her dog in my lap fighting back tears at the scene in which Alice goes to commit suicide but can’t remember how….)

Peter Hardin's Book Club, Book 3
I just finished reading “Still Alice.” The book was beautiful and tragic. Truly heartbreaking. I loved the way it was stylistically written: both in the third person while also being from Alice’s perspective. I had really wanted to read the book before seeing the movie and now I’m looking forward to watching Julianne Moore in this role.
Overall an excellent book. The best thing I’ve read recently.
