Weddings are beautiful, weddings are wonderful, trust me when I say that nobody loves weddings more than me... but they’re so self-centered, don’t you think? It’s kind of rude. Nobody wants to pay attention to anything or anyone except the wedding and the people getting married and it’s kind of ridiculous when you think about it because what have they done besides get engaged? I don’t mean it in a bad way but that’s not really an accomplishment, is it? It’s just a thing that’s actually kind of boring and egotistical. I mean, the presents and everything? 

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE weddings, I love everything about them, I can’t get enough of them. But I’m just saying... It’s like, wow, look around you, there are celebrities here and nobody is even paying attention... Like what does that say about these people? You know what I mean? That’s kind of selfish.

Let me ask you something, honestly and in confidentiality; do you think he’s making the right decision here? 

Riah, I’m so glad you asked...

Even after all this time, I can’t help but wonder the same... I’m worried about him, this doesn’t align with his views, even though we know he’s no angel... But as the artist, I try to stay impartial. Who am I, a third party, to say he’s making the right or wrong decision? We do not know the intricacies of the situation from his point of view. Only he can know this. And I have my opinions, of course, but that makes it all the more complex and interesting to the viewer. That is what we meant to do, to provoke these thoughts, these moral dilemmas; pose these questions that perhaps have no right or wrong answer, and to leave no option but to face that reality. We also have to ask ourselves: does he think he is making the right choice? Or is he doing this despite knowing it’s the wrong one, for some other purpose or compromise...?

[Cut to Elliot’s phone where he is watching highlight compilations from The Picture on Youtube. This is what he is referring to. His character. On his tiny screen. In his very bad and long-dead show. It does not provoke existential questions like he says it does, at least not to the average viewer...]

I will tell you, though, in the same confidence and secrecy that you posed this question to me, that when we were filming this scene with the bloody orgy here, both Danny and Elliot believed it felt right. I truly became him in this scene. It was frightening, really. I still don’t know the truth but I saw god.

I know, I know... It was the Hanukkah miracle that mother had been hoping for for so long, the one the ancient scripture tells us of. It was humbling for me to finally be able to give back to her and nurture her, much in the same way that she did when she carried me in her womb... The circle of life, they say.

And father, dear old paPA... I knew, of course, that my arrival would be emotional for him as well, but to make him weep... I felt so blessed. So many men are afraid to cry, to show that vulnerability, you know that, Henry? We rob ourselves of this. We have to hide from our mirrors, lest they end up showing us what is inside ourselves... Father, only now, is learning to shed that old snakeskin of his and let it all out. And that’s beautiful. It’s like becoming a newborn babe again, unafraid of being weak, crying for anything we want to. How many of our sons need to dispose of their tears in the rain or the show, before we stop this? Before we all become naked and vulnerable once more?

That is feeling, is it not? That is feeling...

Brother... Let me ask you this... When last did you feel? This girl... This woman you’ve found... Does she make you...feel...? You can allow yourself to open your wings and soar, you know... Listen to me... I am wise, I have learned many things out in the great beyond... You cannot settle. You must find the wonderment of the babe in the crib...
