This mural was spearheaded by artist Taylor Sommer and was a collaboration of a number of street artists including some from The Bronx.

Over 130,000 vehicles use this major highway with traffic heading deep upstate New York, to #NewJersey, and #Connecticut

Something I think I’m living without knowing good and well that you are near and wafting of influence. On muses: I find myself moved by the excellence of my neighbor, my family and friends. The people who walk next you. As my eyesight is short I cast my dreams of visions upon family, flowers, buildings and people with great presence. I like to think of muses as one would think about the scents at an apothecary, they waft and glide. Sometimes they 👊🏾💥

On women: My mother is a woman. As is yours. I praise the ground a Black woman walks on and hope to uplift women in my work. For no other reason than to say I appreciate and regard you as the Queen.

How I imagine myself during rollerderby.

The old abandoned #Bronx #PortMorris railway with #Amtrak above (the latter which will carry #MetroNorth trains from the #NewHaven line and 4 new stations in the #EastBronx into #PennStation by the early 2020s).

Meanwhile, what to do with this segment? Long before Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr took credit for a low line type of park for our residents to add to much needed greenspace in the South Bronx, residents such as myself and others had come up with his concept almost a decade before his announcement.

We desperately need more green space and these abandoned tracks are perfect as they stretch from Melrose and straight to the #RandallsIsland Connector.

It’s already longer than the #highline and by connecting directly onto the Randall’s Island Connector it can in theory provide for one, long contiguous Greenway of active and passive recreational space.

This is not by any means the first time people from gentrifying neighborhoods have taken to graffiti or flyers (see #freebushwick) to resist their own displacement, it points to the fact that more people are willing to bring gentrification to the forefront of the community’s discourse, and not willing to take the abuses lying down.
