Tonight two realms collide, in a nursery rhyme turned haunting folklore one-shot that honors one of the greatest traditions of Halloween.
Will Humblewood be plagued and twisted in eternal night by the Crook'd Moon's curse? Will our adventurers be beaten by a threat like nothing Humblewood has dealt with before? Or will a new found ally be just the help they need…
💜 Starting at 8:30 est tonight on Twitch! This will be a one-shot lead-in to our new Humblewood campaign!
DMed by one of our longtime players, Mojo is going to stretch his horror tendrils out to take us into the darker parts of tabletop rpgs!

This painting is located in the Church of the Nativity in Prague, and is dated to 1663. It is also the basis of at least 3 D&D character concepts that are stuck in my head now.

The badlands are a harsh environment, but rich in ores and beautiful to behold. Miners from the Dark Oak Kingdom were sent to develop the area and bring the riches back to their own kingdom. Mines were dug, and rail-tracks were laid, but while they surplussed in metals and gems, they lacked food. Theyd already hunted all the animals in the area, except the Armadillos, and the spiders, who clung on to their homes, and didnt provide much to eat that wasn’t poisonous. Eventually, they revolted, and the Dark Oak King sent an army to quell the rebellion and return to the lucrative status quo.
The Dark Oak Miners and the Dark Oak Army fought against one another until both were wiped out… but they still remain. In the darkness, the reanimated thrive, ready to take swift revenge against any who enter their territory.
We came to this place to try again for a more sustainable mining town. Our hope is with access to its own, home grown food, and a much more reasonable foreman, there wont be a revolt. This time, we’re building a home for Badlandians, and the ores will first benefit us, the workers. Trade agreements will be forged, so we can import goods from elsewhere, fairly.
🎃 Plans 🎃
🔸 Build a Staircase down to the caverns
🔸 Build a mountainside village/Subscriber City
—— 🔹 If you 5ubscribe 0n 7witch, Ill add a villager named after you, with the profession (or lack there of) of your choice!
🔸 Build the yellow trade road to another biome
—— 🔹 Ill want to add in way-stations, maybe smaller villages along the way.
So, I've been wanting to do a solo challenge for a while, and I've been watching way too much LukeTheNotable. (he's great, go check him out)
I enjoy the idea of a single biome challenge, but I don't like the idea of having a separate world for each biome.
So! I decided I want to do single biomes in a large biomes world, and the idea will be to build a "kingdom" in each biome, and expand the world's "lore" as we move to a new one.
The folks hanging out in my discord decided to torture me for the first biome, so we're starting in the Badlands... Decidedly, this is in survival, not hardcore, cause... I expect to scream into the void a lot. lol
See you Thursday at 8:30pm EST on the purplewitch site?

Excuse me mr bogged leech but why do jellyfish need such unbelievably potent venom? Especially that one extremely tiny jellyfish whose poison makes you feel the worst pain possible for days on end and has a symptom along the lines of "makes you feel impending doom." What evolutionary factors could there be for such a tiny creature to evolve a toxin that makes you feel like Death is personally coming for you
It is Precisely just because they prey on fish! A fish is a highly active vertebrate that evolved for lightning fast movement and reflexes through deep, heavy water, so more than half of a fish’s body is a dense hunk of proportionately high-powered, dense muscle all the way through! Look how little space is devoted to organs in even just an anchovy, muscle and bone fills ALL the remaining space:
That’s muscle for escaping sharks and dolphins! Muscle that can fight currents stronger than hurricane winds!
But a jellyfish evolved for an extreme conservation of resources: just barely enough tissue to hold it together, which allows it to grow and multiply on barely a sliver the resources it takes to make a vertebrate, a high efficiency approach to building, growing, and multiplying a living body that has allowed jellyfish to keep thriving in the harshest conditions and through global extinction events.
So, relative to one another, a fish is practically built like a cheetah, a stallion or an ox while a jellyfish is built like...a cobweb, a snowflake or a latex balloon.
The only way a latex balloon can possibly hunt oxen for a living is with sheer firepower alone, or some kind of magical instant-death-touch, so that is exactly what evolution resulted in. While box jellies prey on fish seldom larger than themselves, a single sting delivers venom potent enough to kill a THOUSAND little fish in an instant, or completely wreck an entire massive human. The venom equivalent of a point-blank shotgun blast.

Wanted to practice some lineart and shading in Procreate, as well as our favorite bartender being a little less of a tsundere 💖 Juuuust a lil’ bit.
First part in a series of pumpkin elementals I designed. The glowy transparent chest cavity is where all the magic is stored that keeps the elemental alive. It is often seen followed by a family of fireflies or curious moths. They can only be summoned during the month of October and they last about 30 days before they fall apart and their magic returns to the earth.
However, there are legends of skilled wizards who have taken such a liking to their elementals that they manage to keep them alive and well for years past their expiration dates.
