Late Night Wanderings Sentence Starters

“What are you doing out this late?”

“This part of town isn’t a good place to be at this time of night.”

“Now what’s a pretty thing like you doing in a place like this?” 

“You do realize what time it is, right?”

“The sun isn’t rising anytime soon, you know.”

“It isn’t safe here at this time of night.”

“I like walking when the streets are empty.”

“It’s dangerous to walk at night alone.” 

“I know where I’m going.” 

“The trees are kind of spooky…”

“Did you hear that howl?” 

“Was…was that an owl…?”

“Oh you poor soul, wandering lost in the forest under the new moon…”

Eloise smiled warmly and proceeded to help her friend up once the unknown boy was again standing on his feet, not taking her eyes off him. Not even once. Amali elbowed her friend in amusement. She raised a teasing eyebrow and Eloise, rolling her eyes, signaled her in reply making the girl turn and face him. She knew how perceptive Eloise could be.

-”My ears may betray me but do I hear an accent?”- she asked, speaking with her hands at the same time. Eloise could feel her pocket moving, and placed a hand on top of it to avoid him from seeing anything he shouldn’t.

‘ name a guilty pleasure. ’

It was break time. And as it was habitual for her, that was her time to have lunch and do her school duties. As she was opening her book, a little piece of folded paper fell from it. Curiously, Eloise picked it up and read the sentence written on it.

The brunette blinked and starred at it for a moment. It had taken her by surprise. She searched for a name in the paper but nothing was found. It was anonymous.

Smiling, she grabbed a pen from her purse and decided to reply to mysterious interviewer. It was a tough one indeed. After giving it a good thought, she finally began writing.

~"I must admit I really enjoy singing when I'm on my own. Most of my concerts happen in the softest volume during showers. I can't affirm nor deny that my voice sounds good. But I can assure you that it feels good and it's very soothing.

P.S: My favorite kind of songs are the ones that talk about love. Specially if they're wedding related. Guess I'm a hopeless romantic by heart!~

Once she was done, she refolded the little paper and placed it back into her book. She didn't know if it would make its way back to the person behind the request. But at least it was fun to reply to.

Eloise looked up from the bouquet she was preparing and eyed her customer curiously. Then, letting out a giggle and putting back her attention to finishing the floral arrangement she replied:

-"Why wouldn't I? …You know, I like to think of people as differently written stories. Some are good, some are bad. But all of them become interesting when you know nothing about them. And I" - she paused while adding the final ribbon and handing it to her interviewer -"really like stories of all kind".

Eloise held onto her friend’s hand for dear life and huffed once she finally made it through the doors. Paris was already a crowded city but this was something else. A new collection had been added to the already immensity of the Louvre Museum and today was its inauguration day. As a result an ocean of tourists were bursting the place inside an out. An mass of obnoxious, sweaty, smelly tourists. Eloise shivered.

She wasn’t a fan of museums, she prefered imagining the events while she navigated the pages of books than seeing them. But Amali was. Her best friend had been impatiently waiting for the big display for months so she just couldn’t say no. She hand-signaled her to start moving towards the display. The Louvre was gigantic and the benefit of being a Parisian was, that they could find the exhibits before the tourists invaded them. 

Amali tapped her friend’s shoulder and started sign-talking about what they were going to find. They were so immersed in their conversation, laughing, that they didn’t see the boy walking in front of them, accidentally pushing him to the ground. 

-”Oh! We’re so sorry”- Eloise said,hurrying down to help him get up -”we didn’t see you there”-.

𝑨𝑹𝑰𝑬𝑺. tries to do everything at once. doesn’t know when to stop & take care of themselves.  bends over backwards for everyone even if someone did them dirty.  has entirely too much on their plate. over-assertive. both insensitive and oversensitive.

𝑻𝑨𝑼𝑹𝑼𝑺. idealistic. spends a lot of time trying to impress others.  doesn’t like to apologize.   eating is a coping mechanism or just addictive personalities in general.   a tad co—dependent.

𝑮𝑬𝑴𝑰𝑵𝑰.  the most flip—floppy people ever.     what’s today’s mood?     never apologizes.   in denial 90% of the time.   their way or the highway. desperately needs a break. has a hard time setting goals because their goals scare them.

𝑪𝑨𝑵𝑪𝑬𝑹. the literal meaning of  ‘i’ll give you the shirt off my back’. isolates themselves in fear of someone hurting them. wants to change but is scared of change.   complains a lot but never takes the advice people give them.

𝑳𝑬𝑶.    no one takes them seriously because they feel they always have to portray themselves as the fun one. is actually really sad inside. honestly needs a hug. always exhausted.  a crackhead.

𝑽𝑰𝑹𝑮𝑶. can dish it but can’t take it.     rushes everything.    anxious.   plans their future but forgets to live in the moment.  sometimes ignores their friends because they have so much on their mind.    talks about themselves a lot & sometimes forgets to ask the other person how they are.

𝑳𝑰𝑩𝑹𝑨.   solves everyone’s problems but their own.   is actually really sad & lonely. gets easily heartbroken but tries not to show it. will do anything to justify bad decisions. honestly just wants everyone to love them but doesn’t really love themselves.

𝑺𝑪𝑶𝑹𝑷𝑰𝑶.   easily set off. will give anyone the cold shoulder at any given time even without reason. keeps a lot in.  so observant that they often times find out things that hurt them. too many  ‘what ifs’  swirling in their head. has trouble showing their true self.

𝑺𝑨𝑮𝑰𝑻𝑻𝑨𝑹𝑰𝑼𝑺. impatient. brash. commitment issues.   body issues.    doesn’t realize they don’t need to change for anyone.  has a lot of different goals to a point where they get overwhelmed.  just wants to disappear & do what they want without anyone questioning them.

𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑹𝑰𝑪𝑶𝑹𝑵.   scared people won’t like them unless they’re at the top of their game 24/7.  it takes a lot for them to talk about their feelings. secretly struggling.     fake happy.    needs a plan but doesn’t know what that plan is. confident but insecure at the same time.   wants to be stable but sometimes wishes they could drop everyone’s expectations of them & live normally.

𝑨𝑸𝑼𝑨𝑹𝑰𝑼𝑺.  gets heartbroken like 30 times a week. trust issues. can be unmotivated & disinterested. feels they have to adapt to every person they meet so they can be liked. doesn’t know how to tap into their emotions despite being very intuitive.  confused. expects little.

𝑷𝑰𝑺𝑪𝑬𝑺.  empathetic,  often to a point of no return.   plays the victim.     doesn’t know when to say no.     cynical. hermit.   is very impatient.   trusts everyone too much.     can be secretly very critical & judgmental.    can only tolerate maybe ten minutes of social interaction.     needs a lot of validation.

The girl didn’t reply. Instead she gave him a reassuring smile and decided to leave the topic where it was. She knew that perhaps talking about it would soothe the ache instead of always trying to ignore it. Maybe with time she would be able to. Maybe when doubts were cleared. Maybe when she finally had the guts to confront Ladybug about it. Also being akumatized wasn’t fun, she’d rather avoid the situation.

Eloise bit her lip at his insisting invitation. Her eyes traveled to the pocket in her dress and then to the windows to her left. The weather was very bad indeed, it had been a stupid idea leaving the house on a day like this. She was sure they’d have no customers until the big blizzards had passed and snow had melted a little. And she didn’t have to worry about homework either as she knew the school would probably be closed after the storm. 

She sighed and unconsciously took a few sips of her cocoa. She was safe, her grandma and Nilo were safe, Paris was safe. For now. Even if her mind tried to take her somewhere else thinking about all the things that could go wrong. 

After a few moments of thinking she finally made her desicion. 

-”Alright”- she replied at last -”I guess if that’s okay with you”-

She still was unsure of her answer but she was going to make sure to have an emergency plan just in case. Besides, spending some more time with Adrien wouldn’t hurt. She never really had time to make new friends aside from talking to her classmates at school. It would be nice to breathe and relax for a bit. 

-”I just need to call my grandma to let her know”-
