Okay but. Have we considered how Percy would react to Jason's death?
The one person he felt like he might've broken through to, who had understood him in ways that only one shoved into power too early, too young, can. Someone who saw his harsh, bitter moments- and he saw theirs- and chose him anyways. Chose him to look to not as a leader, not as a superior, but as a person. A friend. A partner.
They've dealt with, and held each other through some of the hardest moments they've both experienced- all kinds of terrible dads and lost friends and struggling mental health moments but knowing even through those that you can't give up, because people rely on you. The world relies on you.
But then Jason made that easier, for Percy. And Percy made that easier, for Jason.
They're meant to be foils, in a way- but they've never done anything but compliment each other.
And now, he's gone. He's gone, and Percy didn't get to say goodbye.
