The Rail Enthusiast turned 11 today!
This is the existing Amtrak station on North Tryon Street that I visited on the 13th. With the way things are going with its planned uptown replacement, building a new station on Sugar Creek Road would be a better bet than continuing at this antiquated location.
This is the site of what is supposed to be Gateway Station, but when I visited this area on May 21, this is what I ran into.
The platforms were completed by NCDOT in the fall of 2022 but the Charlotte City Council has based a new building on a Silver Line light rail route that may never happen. This lack of urgency is infuriating especially since the city passed on building a temporary station.
