What's your DIY cardinal sin mine is that I never countersink screws

Until this past weekend when my dad gave me his spare power drill, I have owned no power tools for the nearly 3 years of living in my house so when I need to screw something into a wall I just brute force it into the dry wall and if it won't go in with the screwdriver/strength combo, then that screw becomes a nail real quick (ie. I just get out a hammer and hammer it in).

I needed to build a desk but I didn't have a saw, so I whittled the planks to length with my knife.

sometimes I don't want to make noise while building, so I just slowly push the nails through the wood instead of hammering them.

one time I was assembling a loft bed, and it had a factory defect where there was a bolt hole that was missing; so I heated the steel with a butane soldering iron, drilled a hole with a gimlet and a hammer, and tapped it by driving in a spare bolt.

one time I had a 2 x ¼ inch steel bar I wanted to cut in half but I didn't have any power tools, so I spent an hour or two grinding through it with a round file.

Once, when I was a teenager, I tried to hang a picture frame in front of a breaker box to hide it, and I put a screw straight through the power main.
