15 Years, nah

I cannot believe our little dude is 15. He has so much intelligence, independence, and an inconceivably large tolerance for In & Out Burgers. His phone location is always broken and his debit card is forever nil. He is both a menace and a hero on the basketball court. He is soft and hard, funny and moody, loveable and irritable at all times.

We wouldn't have it any other way.

PS: This is what your bedroom door looks like now. I can't promise it will be this way in the morning. Beeboop is skulking around it right now🎈😽.

Turned one year older today! It was quiet. It was familiar. It was wonderful. That is all. (Don't trip, Mother's were recognized as well!)

Independence

Max has always been an independent kid. We trusted him to go out into the world and experience his friends and environment around him. Have there been times when this backfired, sure, but overall he is a kid that gets free reign to go most places with most people with simple guardrails. Who are you with? Where will you be? Check in when you are there...the very basic things.

So, you think it wouldn't be so hard to let him go to Dallas, TX this weekend for basketball without us. I only got emotional when I gave him the biggest bear hug I could. The kind of hug that says, "I love you, don't go, but go, and do good stuff, and have fun, be kind, but don't go. But, go."

The families he will be with for travelling and throughout the weekend are a blessing since we couldn't get time off too easily to make this tournament (plus MONEY -_-). I am glad he enjoys basketball and this travel league. In the end, if he just loves the game and wants to share that love through coaching, mentoring, or just playing as an adult that would be great, but I'd be lying if it wouldn't be cool to visit him someday courtside in a big fancy city. Maybe Dallas?
