"Room for one more?"
“Oh! Uh–”
Alphys hesitated, shuffling a little in her seat. So accustomed was she to curling up alone in her little alcove, noodles and blanket at hand in the tiny shroud of light and bursts of colour extending from the monitor, where the evening silence settled like dust into every corner of the lab and seeped into her chest, her shoulders, as though physically telling them to relax– and breathe, before the room was filled with the sound of fights foes, heartfelt confessions, tears and romance. It took a second to even allow another person into the mental image, let alone the reality. However, the want for company never completely eluded her, and she had to admit it might actually be…fun to interact with someone in her element. And Undyne– her patience had consistently proven to be astonishingly stolid when she willed it to be so. Perhaps a testament more to her sense of challenge fulfillment than any actual predisposition to tolerance - one only had to see her reaction to being faced with one of Papyrus’ puzzles to support that. If Undyne wanted something, Alphys was sure she could wait out an entire lecture series on atomic wavefunction combinations - particularly if challenged to do so.
And…..perhaps………………..maybe………….there was, of course, the possibility that…….
…….Undyne simply…wanted to spend time with her?“S-sure!” she replied, trying to resist the urge to hide her surely burning cheeks, before her shoulders fell in dismay. “I–I don’t have any other chairs, I’m sorry. I… maybe we could share this one?”
