My best concert moment in 2019 was in New York City with Within Temptation. I also did it this year in Baltimore and Philadelphia, but NYC was different. Usually Sharon is in front of me and hands me the mic at the exact moment I’m supposed to start. This time she tells the crowd who I am and that I’ve been doing this at a lot of US shows since 2007 when she met me on their first US tour with Lacuna Coil, then tells me she’s gonna let me sing. She hands me the mic way early and walks off to center stage and watches me, good thing I have the timing down, I kept the mic away from my face and went right into it at the exact moment. Too bad the security guy was so slow getting her the mic back, I’m usually pretty quick when I can reach her myself.
