Blog #12

Blog #12 "Looking Back" Looking back where we first went out and started this whole blog segment of this course, I was kind of amused and intrigued at the same time. To be honest I wasn't really into this writing or blogging thing, but since it counted for a grade I thought I would give it a try. But thankfully it actually worked out and I can honestly say that I really enjoyed blogging and composing. Throughout this course when I look back my writing actually progressed considering it wasn't that well in the beginning to say the least. I was also surprised to see how fun and popular blogging has become. Between balancing a busy work and school schedule, writing and composing blogs was actually like a safe heaven or feel good spot for me. In the beginning it's actually quite noticeable how timid and straight forward my blogs that I had written were but as time went on and the blog numbers started progressing the writing became more convenient and easy for me. I began to include life experiences and important dates in my lifetime, adding these in my writing looks really good in my view mainly because it seems to give a huge touch of originality. For me originality is pivotal in writing and certainly an important aspect for me in this writing process. Originality not gives richness to a writing piece but it adds a touch of importance as well as making it an enjoyable experience to read my writing. Blogging and composing also allowed to explore the deeper section of the English arts, I began to explore the social blogging app "Tumblr" more and more. As I began to explore this app I noticed that a lot of people throughout the English world like to blog, in blogging i noticed that this can be like a free zone where one can expose his or her feelings without really facing any type of scrutiny. Unfortunately in the we world that we live this can become a common thing which is why blogging can become like a free zone where one can explain him or herself and really feel free to do what they please with their thoughts. If I hadn't completed this portion of this course I can say that I would really feel a ton of regret. Mainly because this portion of this course actually become the most important and most fun part of the course. Blogging and composing is extremely needed for a person like me or anyone who his exposed to any time of stress.

Blog 11#

The importance of family, i feel like it’s very important to discuss a topic like this especially during a time like this. Being close to your family and maintaining a close relationship is always beneficial. I say this because. I know it’s tough when your not close to family based on past events throughout my life. Anytime there would be conflict I would notice that if I approached the situation like a “hard head” That it was basically a lose-lose situation or a catch 22 as many would say. Family first as many say should be the motto or philosophy for anyone. Throughout my life I’ve noticed that anytime I would disagree and get in Conflict over petty stuff with family, it would end up hurting me in the long run. As a kid growing up I noticed that a lot of the reasons why I'm able to be here and go to school is mainly because of that I am so well connected to a loving and big family, when I first came to the United States of America I was ecstatic for one. A lot of the reasons why it was so easy to adjust to life in a new and different country all the way across the world was mainly thanks to having a big and kind-hearted family that allowed us to live with them until my father can get on his feet and provide my my mother, siblings and I such a great life. We first made to California and spent a good summer with my grandparents, uncles, and aunts. That time period was probably the best of my whole entire life. I got to spend quality time with my uncles and aunts, plus I got to see what the fuss about the USA was about and boy was it worth the 16 hour trip across the Pacific Ocean. My grandparents lived and still live on a huge ranch in California and that setting alone was probably the best place to visit as a kid, a lot of space and plenty of other kids. There was nothing more really that could have provided a better atmosphere. So since the ThanksGiving holidays are right around the corner, i strongly urge every one of you to take a pass on all the late Thursday night Black Friday sales and deals and try your best to spend it with family. Because to be honest that's really all the joy that lasts almost forever. Material stuff can never compare to quality time being spent with family.

We created those regimes because we wanted their oil. We can't have democracy there, otherwise their people will get that oil - and we cannot let their people own it. Trump: Then, let us invade Iran. Pentagon: We cannot do that either, sir. Trump: Why not? CIA: We are talking to them, sir. Trump: What? Why? CIA: We want our stealth drone back. If we attack them, Russia will obliterate us as they did to our buddy ISIS in Syria. Besides we need Iran to keep Israel in check. Trump: Then let us invade Iraq again. CIA: Sir, our friends (ISIS) are already occupying 1/3rd of Iraq. Trump: Why not the whole of Iraq? CIA: We need the Shi'ite gov't of Iraq to keep ISIS in check. Trump: I am banning Muslims from entering US. FBI: We can't do that. Trump: Why not? FBI: Then our own population will become fearless. Trump: I am deporting all illegal immigrants to south of the border. Border patrol: You can't do that, sir. Trump: Why not? Border patrol: If they're gone, who will build the wall? Trump: I am banning H1B visas. USCIS: You cannot do that. Trump: Why? Chief of staff: If you do so we'll have to outsource White House operations to Bangalore. Which is in India. Blog #10 Data collection & results... Collecting data is absolutely necessary and important in this day and age. Date can be used for a variety of reasons and causes, conducting research and collecting data helps us find out a lot of interesting facts about what we like to eat. What we like to do, why we do it, and the list goes on. Just as I took my phone out today and began typing this very blog, I am very certain that there was data used in order to help session this very phone that I'm using this very moment. The importance of research and data helps one prove their point or case. In any field that you are in bring the correct data always helps assert the quote "stats don't lie". For my scholarly GAO I feel that it is necessary to look for data and research in order to help prove my point and bring light to my research question. I also hope that I can be able to create surveys and polls of my own in order to gain unique data that I can use my self in order to fill the scholarly gap that I have located. My scholarly gap that i have located brings more attention to the conflict occurring in yemen and is essentially asking the legitimacy of South Yemen state and how will that later affect South Yemeni people living abroad and mainly in the United States of America. The types of surveys that I plan to conduct might ask questions to a group of people who are predominantly South Yemeni American and will ask question like: "what's the likelihood of a South Yemen nation?, do plan to live back in yemen if There becomes a South Yemen state in current day Yemen?" And so on. With this very research I hope that my scholarly gap can have some type of valid information and I will be able to present a paper review worth looking at and most importantly readable to the everyday average American. I know that not a lot of people are really interested in this topic because it's so focused on a small group of people, but for me I am very passionate about this topic and I hope that this passion will really help me to do a good job and create a successful writing piece. So again speaking on the matter of data collection and surveys I believe that the will have a strong benefit to my scholarly gap and I will be able to use this method to make my scholarly gap readable.

Basically we don't have a choice lol. We have to vote for Hillary, and she's no angel. But this election is saddening because that's basically our only choice

Blog #9 The area that I plan to do more research has a strong significance on the Southern Yemen movement towards independence, and the current prospect of a internationally recognized South Yemen country. To get more in depth plan to do more research on the current state of current day former South Yemeni citizens that fled the country due to the unification of both states of North Yemen and South Yemen. Many Southern Yemeni citizens fled the county post unification for many reasons such as unfairness in the work place, poor wages, poverty and the list definitely goes on. In the first part of my project I did research to show the effect unification had on former Southern Yemeni citizens living abroad. As I searched the world wide web I noticed that there was a strong lack of information on the whole Southern Yemen issue, let alone the issues and effects it had on its Southern Yemeni citizens that fled to different countries especially the dominant one the United States of America. I found out about scholarly research that had information that was related to Yemen as a whole country as well as a little info about the Southern Yemeni movement. The research that I am proposing to conduct has a more in depth look on the effects of a united yemen that reflected on Southern Yemenis and also looking closing at Southern Yemeni Americans. The internet and many sources that I searched really lacked to provide real research and insight about this topic. I know not a lot of people are actually informed about the whole Yemen crises, and extremely understandable because the whole Middle East is in turmoil and with shape of the world and our county we kind of have bigger fish to fry. Overall for those not really informed about the issue, in general to cut short: since the unification of Southern yemen, many of its citizens standard and quality of life deceased and were forced to leave the county. Prior to the unification of both these states, the Southern Yemeni people were living quite well, good education, public medicine, and even public transportation. For a middle eastern country to have all these benefits at the time it was a role model for many of its neighboring countries. What my proposed research does is that it gives us a more in depth look on how former Southern Citizens feel and most importantly how they and their families been effected since the unity of yemen.

Blog #7 "Citing Properly" & discussing current events Honestly speaking I can say that I'm really comfortable in this course even though I'm a little timid sometimes. But one thing that I feel that should be stressed more often even at this level of English is citing and annotating properly. This can be blamed on my lack of knowledge I this particular area but for some odd reason I feel like I haven't really mastered to citing to the full degree. I know it's a little embarrassing that I am still having trouble with citing in different formats but this is how I really feel bluntly speaking. As I mentioned earlier that I feel very comfortable and enriched academically with current format, but since we're putting in our 2 cents I feel that we should discuss current events and what's going on in the world around us especially in this day and age. With the Middle East in turmoil and the two major world powers basically having small proxy wars though out much of the Middle East I feel that it's very important and beneficial for us to discuss current events as often as we can because it's always good to be fully aware of these things. One of the many reasons that's it's extremely beneficial to stay informed with current events is the fact that it may even have a impact on yourself and the community around you. For example with the horrible events that have been plaguing Syria and much of the Midd East this has caused a huge pour of immigrants on Many countries, recently reading the Buffalo news I noticed that some of these immigrants fleeing their homeland have finally settled in the Buffalo area. Reading and following current events can even go all the way where it help you understand the community around you and the people living around you. Apart from situations like this, staying up to date with current events and news always interesting and sometimes even necessary to do well in certain courses and general life lol. Just looking at the current presidential election you can see that there is a lot at stake and it's very important to vote. Reading a lot of the current news can give you a huge boost of information on the candidates running for the presidency of this country! Some of the stories I've read worries me and most importantly gives me a huge boost to get out there and vote, mainly because I feel like a lot is at stake and if I don't vote my life can take a huge change in direction.

Unity as a country: As this election progresses I believe that one thing we shouldn't forget is unity amongst ourselves. To me it seems that since this whole trump campaign/joke began all that has increased it a strong disunity among the American people. Each day that has passed since trump announced his campaign for presidency all I can see on my timeline is this huge pouring of hate against muslims and hispanics. Before his campaign it had seemed that many Americans like myself had forgot that we are even from Middle Eastern ethnicity. Overall I believe we should try to look at the core issues plaguing this country instead of taking sides based on hate. I know Hillary isn't probably the best choice for president, as I would have much rather preferred Bernie Sanders. But next to trump she looks like an angel which says a lot. Now that I'm thinking of it I remember hearing a very funny metaphor comparing the concept of choosing between the two, to someone who is forced to choose between a rotten slice of pizza and bowl of vomit with shattered glass. Of course in the metaphor choosing trump was the bowl with shattered glass haha. Nevertheless one thing that is always on my mind is the subject on why Bernie Sanders is not up there to lead us as President. I know many might argue that his plans are too radical or even too similar to a fairytale. But I beg to differ, I honestly felt like many of his plans were doable and overall we as the great county that we are, are more than capable of achieving his goals and our goals. As a thought more and more about this matter I began to look into it more and came to the conclusion that the people who really run this country are the top 1 percent. I began and still think that overall, the top rich one percent were the ones that really run the show and most certainly still do. They were never gonna allow someone like Bernie to run the country, he was going to bring real progress and change for the average middle class citizen which wouldn't be good at all for the top one percent. But to be honest even after I came to this conclusion I still feel that it is very important to vote this election, and to most certainly vote for the lesser of the two evils which in this case is the rotten pizza "Hillary Clinton, because if you eat the rotten pizza you'll most likely live through it, but if you eat the bowl of shattered glass you probably won't live through it. Blog #3 The time I ended up with a hole in my leg

The day started off like any other day back in high school. I woke up that morning wanting to rest for another five minutes like every other kid. Struggled to make it to my bus on time, and barley stayed awake through my class periods. The only thing different about this day than any other day was that it was Friday. My friend had told me about a party that day in our lunch period. From lunch on through the next four periods all I could think about was if my mom would let me go to the party or not. I was a senior in high school but my mom didn’t like me going out to parties.

In my last class I was debating on texting my mom or not to go to the party. I just decided to finally text her. She said she would let me know when she got home from work so there was hope. When I got home from school I cleaned my room and cleaned up the house, and picked up my little sister from her school. When my mom came home she questioned me about who I was going with and where it was. My older sister agreed to take me there and back from the party. My friends and I went out and bought some drinks for the night.

When my friends and I arrived at the party we saw a bunch of people from our school there. Practically all my friends from the football team were there, and other kids from the school. One of my boys from the football team was having problems with one of the kids there. He was telling us how this kid was dating his ex and talking bad about him. By this time, we were all a little drunk already and having a good time. My boy decided to confront the kid, and after that they started fighting. The girl who was throwing the party, her parents were gone for a week. So while the kids are fighting she was trying to make sure they weren’t going to break anything. My friend grabbed the kid by the neck and threw him into the stair case railing which broke. Then the kid shoved him and broke a huge hole in the wall.

After that they ended up breaking up the fight and the girl kicked everyone out. While my friends and I were walking out the cops were pulling up at that exact moment. We had some alcohol on us still and we all were underage at the time. Me and my friends decided to run to the high school that was by her house, but we weren’t in our town. As we were all running from the cops, I hit a metal wire that had spikes on it. One of the spikes ripped into my leg and made a deep hole in my leg. I was intoxicated so I didn’t feel it to be honest. I kept running and we ended up getting away. When my sister picked me up I showed her and there was a huge blood stain on my sock from the hole. She made me bite down on a towel while she poured hydrogen peroxide on my leg. The pain that I felt was insane but I couldn’t tell my mom. She never found out until months later, but she never really ended up caring about it.

In the beginning of your story it was kind of like Deja vu for me. For a variety of reasons, but mainly because I spent much of my school time not sleeping enough and feeling very sleepy from class to class. In fact one time I was so sleepy that I fell asleep in a Chemistry class and literally slept through 3 whole different class periods. When I woke in the middle of the 4th class period everyone just laughed at me. It was a little embarrassing but a huge lesson for me not to sleep through class ever again

Visiting my 100 year old Great Grandmother

Last summer I flew to California to visit my Great Grandmother. She lives up in San Jose which is not a far drive from San Francisco. This trip was to spend time with her because she is 100 years old. But after arriving we realized she did not care that we were there and that we were just intruding on her shows. Since San Francisco was not too far away we might as well go.

My aunt was the one who was taking me everywhere around the city. Which was amazing because she actually used to live there when she first moved out of her house so she remembered what’s good about this place and where all the hidden gems there were. She took me to amazing restaurants. My favorite place she took me though was to this small town called Carmel. It is a small beach town with cute little shops and restaurants and a beautiful beach with warm waters. While sitting on the beach seals and dolphins were just coming up to us, swimming around and it was just an amazingly unique experience.

As much as I hate being a tourist, I knew that we had to go to San Francisco and just completely, full on be tourists. You know like see the seals, walk the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and sight see the amazing city. While there I learned that this is a perfect place to live. Being right on the water there was always this cool breeze that cooled you down from the hot sun. The building, that were architecturally amazing, were tall and provided some much needed shade. The houses and neighborhoods were so pleasing to my eyes and could not get enough of them.The whole city had this amazing vibe and I was living for it.

After visiting San Francisco I am really considering making a move to live there. I know that it is extremely expensive but I think i still want to try and go for it. I am really trying to learn Spanish and am hoping that that could help me find a job out there. Not sure if it will actually happen but i am not forgetting it. One day i will be back to San Francisco and I will either be moving there or just visiting to have a good time.

California is where I grew up, I grew up in a small town called Lindsay which is a couple hours form Los Angelas. I passionately my believe that it's always essential to take care of our grandparents and parents. For me my grandparents best gift is to visit them and try to provide as much comfort as I possibly can for them. We all played the lotto at least once after the legal age and definitely thought what if I actually just won. 1 in 13,983,816 are the odds predicted of winning the lottery. $310 million was the jackpot and I was already planning how ima split, spend, and invest it. My dream of racing a Rari down sunset with my girlfriend or different vacations around Europe seemed to be the plan. Believe me when I say I was very close of my dream becoming a reality. Playing multiple quick picks that day at the casino felt a bit different. Now expecting nothing but the 6 winning numbers to be on any of the tickets I just got. Hours went by and I viewed mansions along the cost of California via web, anticipating being born all over again because life will now finally begin. Purchasing Burger King that afternoon telling myself this is the last time ima ever eat this ordinary fast food may be the funniest part I remember now. Only eating at five star restaurants was my permanent mood. Sitting courtside at the next NBA finals game would be nice because game 6 was approaching for the upcoming Thursday. The idea quitting my summer job at the YMCA could be compared to the sweetest sound of birds chirping on a sunny morning. My life was changing before my eyes and everything was the same. Swearing that I wouldn’t drive my Honda after I win might have been the most unrealistic thought because I knew I would have to drive and cash in my ticket in. 11 PM came and it was now the time the winning numbers would be revealed. 6 Numbers played and I was completely off by one or two numbers per winning number, asking how could God curse me with such amazing luck by bringing me so close but yet so far. Purchasing fast food the next day and driving my Honda home from work that following afternoon was seriously mind blowing because of the actual thought that I was closer than most people. Maybe that’s the best part of being broke tho, still having imagination of the world and what’s still out there for you to attain. That is what I tell myself so I can actually do something positive with my life. Understanding that it wasn’t meant to be for that specific day but I know that it can maybe happen one day.

Playing the lotto always sparks a up a huge conversation for me and my friends. For me winning the lottery would motivate me to give back as much as I could, because in my view this life were living is just a millisecond compared to what comes after death. As we all know the only things that are gauranteed are death and taxes lol. But it's always good to build for the unfortunate and give back to charity because in my view that's what you really call being wealthy. Being wealthy with good deeds is what really pays off at the end.

Time to ramble

So me and my friends took a road trip to Syracuse this weekend for a bit of girl time and to catch up on things. I personally love these moments because I get to be myself around my closest friends and tell them just about anything. Even if they needed to vent to me about their troubles, I always want to listen and see if I can help them out by giving out my opinion of the situation.

I feel that hearing someone out is important even if the situation is small. But sometimes people can take advantage of that. For example, if you wanted to have someone’s opinion about something, they just brush it off and move on to their own problems, not caring about your own. Which I find very rude.

The reason why I chose this topic to talk about is because one of my closest friends is going through the same thing. She is the most chillest and understanding person I have ever met but people always take advantage of her kindness. She talks to me personally after the road trip because she knows that out of everyone we know, I will listen to her without shoving her off. She told me about her “somewhat” boyfriend and his foolish actions lately, her grandparents that are being hospitalized, and the people that she blocks out of her life because of reasons that should be undiscuss. School, work, and her martial arts class is stressing her out enough and now she has to deal with so much bullshit that it breaks my heart every time.

She doesn’t deserve that.

No one does.

So if someone is in need for a friend to talk to…step in and help. Make them feel better about themselves. Tell them that you’re there and willing to talk.

Don’t be that person to push a friend in need away.

They don’t deserve that.

Opinions are nice too. But try not to be so negative.

Anyways, I’m sorry for pushing this out on y'all. I just needed to get this point across and help the future ya know?

I find it this particular blog very important to myself. For me taking road trips with friends brings a lot of joy and allows to open more to people. As you mentioned Taking a trip with friends can provide a lot time to discuss many topics that one doesn't usually discuss throughout our every day lives. What stood out for me at the end was the fact that you mentioned that a friend of yours feels like no one is helping her with her own problems. I kind of understand a little how that can feel, and how it's important to find someone who you can discuss these problems with.

Blog #3 " a political view of the yemen crises from a southern Yemeni American " I'm making this simple and clear to understand for a purpose! The northern Yemenis who favor the ways of the houthis and his donkey-like Ali Abdullah Saleh need to stop advocating the need to stop strikes on yemen( more specifically as the seem to claim, the strikes on the houthis) apparently protests are being held to transfer their ideas and awareness to the general public.. What they public does not know is that while they attempt to advocate, they seem to forget to add this little fact, the north of Yemen was occupied by the Houthis within a matter of days due to the fact that no resistance from the North was given against the Houthis.. Let's put this in numerical prospective... Which means that of the entire population of north Yemen (23million) no ONE attempted to stop or resist their( Houthis) movement or advancement in attempting to control a the nation.... That's nearly 90% of the population, now that the Houthis have advanced southerly toward Aden and other cities, and resistance is being pressed against them by Southern civilians, not an army, just ordinary individual attempting to protect their rightful land with the aid of the GCC coalition, and what do we see... Pro-Houthis and Pro-"Ali Abdulla bin Coward" as we like to refer to him, are protesting.. Knowing that the Houthis are brutal, inhumane, and evil/wicked people who will stop at nothing but to destroy the oppressed... Why are you protesting....knowing that the man who ruled you for 30years and illegally stolen from your soil and corrupted people in order to gain personal interest...is still planning to do the same thing.. Only this time the new puppets are being utilized strategically to his own interests as always... But again, as we keep seeing.. They are nothing but traitors and mindless of what they see.. It is as if they are blinded by a deep sleep in which they cannot wake up due to the lack of ignorance.. Smh... WAKE UP and open your eyes...unity is no longer an option because unity will only destroy us.... HALA South Yemen, and bless the men who are fighting to protect our land.. Because clearly they are among the evil and wicked...

When I first found out about this project It came across to me as really bold and a bit different to something I've ever really done in a school environment. When I heard I would have to head out and start Collecting pictures and write a couple pages about them it sounded very different but at the same time I felt curious to what I would find and write about. To be honest I still haven't decided which pictures I'm going to choose and write about them but I feel a sense of certainty because I at least have gathered a couple groups of images that have some type of correlation to them. What I really find cool about this project is that it gives you a chance to go out there and find and explore what intrigues you and in way helps you kind of be in your won little niche. As I said before I have gathered a couple groups of pictures but what is driving me a little crazy is which ones to choose and what if there a little too basic and what if they don't have any deep meaning. During the last couple weeks I have found my self taking a lot of pictures some of them of old buildings, and some include new construction sights at one point I was kneeling down and taking pictures of garbage. What I'm really trying to say is there's a lot to talk about in some of the most basic pictures. As the last couple weeks that have passed by every time I have seen some one taking a selfie this project almost instantly comes to my mind, and then there I am just staring and wondering of what I should take a picture of and if it makes any type of sense. To cut it short what I really find cool about this type of project is that gives one the ability to express him or herself in a variety of ways. Multimodal composing and analysis can be described as texts that are drawn in multiple ways to portray specific information. The beauty of Multimodal is that it can contain a collection of images, text, audio, graphics, animations, and numbers that in some cases have a certain correlation. Overall the sole purpose of multimodal is to help provide a clear portrayal of a certain amount of information.

blog #1 This may just look like a regular soccer field… But to me it is more than a soccer field, but for a lot of people this field is all they look forward to. With one ball and a few friends you can change a bad day into one of the best memories of a lifetime. Once throughout my child here in this unique field between the mountains, is where I experienced my first fight. At the time it may had seemed like a bad event, but just thinking about that fight now I realize that it gave me a big lesson. A brawl between two young boys erupted just because they were from 2 different villages. The life lesson I gained here is that you shouldn’t think you are better than anyone, you can call it a big slice of humble pie. It all erupted as each side of the rival fans faced off before a rival game among my own village “Lasboor” & one of our biggest rivals “Houf”. The kids from Houf came out as really arrogant and as a bunch of pricks, but we weren’t perfect either. As both sides started trash talking each other one of the bigger kids from the other side called me out to step up and fight one of the bigger kids from his village. So for me there was really never a choice, I had to step up and fight the kid. And before you knew it I was on top of the kid throwing punches. It was actually really easy for me, the kid ran towards me and I quickly wrestled down and before I knew if the older guys were already breaking it up. The moral of the story for me is that it isn’t smart to listen to others and fight someone or do something stupid just without any true meaning. It’s not worth any of the stress it brings upon your family. It’s always wise to respect others and fight only to defend yourself because fighting & beating up another kid only brings about regret. Anyways the good part about this field is that I learned a lot here and this place is very close to my heart mainly because I experienced the good and the bad here, the rainy days, clod foggy mornings, & the warm summer nights all still fully installed in the majority of my brain capacity.
