[There was a commotion going on in the bathroom. Too much noise for him to be crying or even just washing his hands--and was there a big splash? Yes, followed by Shizui's upbeat laughter and the click of the door unlocking and opening.]
Alright, senorita, I'm ready! Close your eyes--
[Behind his back was a little baby Mantyke, literally fished out of water (albeit bathtub water). It wiggled and writhed in Shizui's arms, chirping loud.]
--Er, no, open your eyes. [sits down next to her, keeping the Pokemon settled in his lap.]
I caught you this little guy, haha. I didn't name him--I thought you might wanna do that. Actually, [rubs the back of his neck, chuckling] I thought of this while I was plannin' a lesson. I wanted to teach the Battling 1 kids about different types of Pokemon, and I remembered. Well, Mantyke's a dual type, Water and Flying.
[He paused, gulped, and then continued talking. He'd planned this moment out over and over in his head, but once the time finally came he wound up improvising.]
And I thought, "water and flying...that's a good combination". They're strong, and go together well. The sea and the sky...haha, man, two of the world's most beautiful things. There's nothing like floating on the waves, nothin' but the blue sky and..
[Oh no. Rambling. You got this, man, bring it home. Shizui stopped and let out a cheeky laugh, then placed the Pokemon in Skyla's lap. It seemed to calm down, its drowsy eyelids drooping.]
I drifted off topic. [clears his throat, then faces her, suddenly looking more serious and speaking in a voice as calm as the sea at peace.]
Skyla, I'm a real lucky dude. I got to know the best girl, radiant inside and out. [There was a brief stop; Shizui hoped that made sense.] And every minute that I spent with her was as sweet as summertime.
[At that point, he couldn't hold back his rush, and a broad grin lit up his face.]
What I'm tryin' to say is...well, I wanna get to know you even more. Y'know? As.. a boyfriend.
