Tiergan has huge romantic intimacy issues for two main reasons:
1) I thrive on feelsy intense emotional RP and enjoy having a yet another built-in source of conflict to drive a narrative and give the character something to overcome through continued development.
2) 9 out of 10 times shit gets weird, because people use Romance RP to satisfy needs that are not being met in the real world and their RP partner just becomes a tool to that end. There becomes an unhealthy level of investment in keeping things just the way they want it, the RP done in a specific way, to keep the person always there, instead of the Romance RP just being a fun ever-evolving narrative done for entertainment.
When the romance is simply a piece of a greater narrative - changes and IC conflicts become interesting turns in the tale instead of threats to your emotional fulfillment. IC relationships coming to an end feel sad only on the same level as hitting the end of a very satisfying book, game, or movie. You wish there was more, but it’s not threatening to you the same way it would be if it was something you were relying on to fill a hole gaping in your emotional life.
So Tiergan’s hard to romance, because people need to show me they are in it for harmless fun and entertainment - not to find a new tool for wish fulfillment.
