Life’s not fair and that’s the name of the game. Now hurry up and pick before we play ‘fuck, marry, kill’ with the Clash.
You are an evil woman. [Cliff narrowed his eyes and shook his head at his twin sister.] The only name that’s coming into my head right now is Halsey. She’s just fucking cool and I met her recently. So.
Oh, come on! You can’t ask me that! Asking me to pick my favorite celebrity I’ve ever met is like asking me to pick a favorite member of the Clash. Totally unfair, man.

When she planned to get him something to drink, it was mainly to maybe stall the conversation and get her prepared for this talk because there was always a possibility he was going to yell at her and she was tired of the fighting. But to her surprise, he wanted to apologize and that meant so much to her. “ You know I never expected an apology from you because I understood why you were being such a dick, but thank you for acknowledging your behavior and apologizing to me. I really appreciate it.” She said, smiling up at him.
“If you asked me a month ago, I would’ve said the exact same thing. I didn’t expect myself to be standing in your kitchen apologizing to you. But, I want you to know I am really sorry about it. I was taking things out on you, rightfully or not, and it got out of control. I spent most of my time being angry at you when I was angry at the situation. And, most of all, hurt. You’re definitely not the only one who was guilty and it hurt for me to not to be able to fully get my anger out. But, I didn’t want to hurt you by hurting him.” Chase emphasized his last word, but he knew Aubree was well aware of who he was mentioning. “I didn’t realize then that every single thing I said and did was hurting you, though. I’m so sorry for that. That was the last thing I wanted to happen. And, I was you to know that I don’t hate you; I never did. I shouldn’t have made it seem that way. It was the only way for me to express the hurt I was feeling whenever you were around. And I’m not gonna ask you to forgive me, because I can’t even begin to fully forgive myself. But, I just wanted to tell you I’m sorry.”
“I’m not busy,” She answered a little too quickly and she didn’t care because she spent so much time being ignored and not talking to him, nothing was ever resolved between them. It was always just tension, so it was nice that he was taking a step forward to actually talk to her again. “Come in.” She gestured him inside, then began walking to the kitchen. “Do you want something to drink?
A part of Chase wanted to smile when she answered quickly, but he didn’t. Instead, he kept his relaxed features and followed her into the house just after he closed the door behind himself. “No, I’m okay. Thank you for asking, though.” He nodded politely and stuffed his hands in his pockets. It was just a little uncomfortable for him at the moment, but he had to remember that this was Aubree. It was gonna be okay. After a short while, he cleared his throat. “So, what I wanted to talk about was the whole ‘us’ thing.” He licked his lips, but kept going. “I, mostly, wanted to apologize for a lot of the things I said to you and the way I’ve acted since we broke up. As much as I was hurting and whatever, you didn’t deserve the constant punishment.”
“Chase..” Her voice trailed off, as she held onto the door. Aubree played a lot of catch up with her friends when she came to visit, but Chase wasn’t someone she expected at her front door. “What are you doing here? Is everything alright?” She questioned, her eyes showing a hint of worry.
When Aubree appeared on the other side of the door, Chase was surprised that he didn’t necessarily have to wait that long. It gave him a little less time to calm his nerves, but it was okay. He was okay. Or, at least, that’s what he kept telling himself in his head. “Hey.” Mentally, he scolded himself for being so vague and plain in his greeting. “Everything is fine. I just-” He took a deep breath. “I don’t want to bother you or take you away from anything you’re doing right now. I was wondering if we could talk; if you’re not busy, that is.”
Chase hadn’t been very active in public in the last while. He’s kept to himself and away from most people. There were those times where he would still go out with Jax whenever they could or when he would go to class. Yet, he managed to keep a lot of people out of his life. He would only see Phoenix when they did things as a family just because of the fact that he would probably see Aubree along with her. And, of course, he didn’t want that. Until recently, anyway. He had made peace with himself and was seeking treatment for his issues, all he had to do now was have his closure with Aubree. Coming up to her front door, Chase knocked and waited, hoping for someone to answer.
“Oh yeah, I think I’ve seen one or two of those.” Sloan stopped when she realized he was no longer in step with her, “Yeah, you’re a little morbid huh? Okay, but I have to know your name first, I can’t go to an estate sale with a stranger. How is the fact that he died in there more incentive by the way?”
I’ve seen the whole series. My family is filled with nerds. [Thinking about it, he considered the word for a moment and continued walking.] I guess so. I haven’t really thought about it. Sure you could, I’m sure there are gonna be plenty of strangers there. Because it could be haunted?
“He was great, Gary Oldman, he made a lot of awesome movies, I’ve seen a few of them. The girl that works with me didn’t want to come because he… you know in the house, she doesn’t want to risk it being haunted. or something.”
Yeah, I know who that is. I know him mostly because he played Sirius in the Harry Potter movies. But, that’s beside the point. [Chase stopped walking and paused for a second.] Gary Oldman died in the house? Oh, come on, can I please go in with you? The girl that works with you is lame. That’s like ten times more of a reason why you should go in.
“It probably would be.” Sloan said simply and pulled out her phone showing him a text with an address, “It’s an estate, an actor died, and everything is getting sold and I’m looking for a few things for work.”
[Chase looked at the address, trying to figure out where it was in his head.] Oh. Which one? Anyone good or just someone who did a few things and faded quietly into the background?
“Well…yeah, if you’re offered anything why go small?” I don’t know, it might look pretty. If you’re not willing to give me your soul, how about your company for the next two blocks, I’m on my way somewhere.
Go big or go home. [Nodding in agreement, he let out a humorless laugh.] Yeah, because my soul would be pretty. I guess I wouldn’t mind escorting you a couple blocks. I have nothing better to do. Where’s this “somewhere”?
“This is so unexpected, there’s so much possibility. I’m thinking on the fly here, but let’s start with your mortal soul. I promise I’ll take good care of it.”
Glad to see you’re really taking advantage of the situation here. [Chase rolled his eyes.] What would you want my soul for, anyway?
Jax gave Chase a quick casual salute in acknowledgement, “That’s why I don’t go to college, I don’t need that shit, there’s enough creeps in Hollywood.” Yeah, alright, chill I’ll check it out before leave to start filming Young Avengers.” Jax pulled out his phone, texting, “We’re actors, we’re vain people.”
“You can say that again. Although, Hollywood’s creeps are always unique and interesting. So, I’d much rather be there than at Ravenwood.” Chase smirked. He was glad his best friend got booked for Young Avengers. He was always a fan of Marvel and this gave him a chance to be a nerd about it. “Oh, and don’t I know it. It’s not easy being friends with the most vain guy on the planet.”
Alright, you caught me in a good mood. What do you want?
“What was that? It sounded like a car…”
“That’s because it was.” Chase looked at the cars where the noise came from. “Looks like some idiot tried to parallel park and smacked into the car behind him.”
