Og Juacas Characters' Age Reference (1994)
Marcondes Kameha. He's 16 years old, it's the first year he's allowed to compete in CAOSS.
Cézar Maral (Cezinha). He's 17 years old, it's his second time participating in CAOSS. The first time, he did so with some other friends, but they didn't take the tournament seriously.
Gary López. He's 16 as well, he was the last to join the team and is very talented. He's from Argentina, but travels to Itacaré often.
Augusto Kameha (Professor Juaca). He's 37 years old, I think that's a good age for him.
Janice Januário (Juma). She's 16 and is the team's fan no. 1.
A Dream in the Waves (ADITW) Characters Reference - Juacas (Team 'Anything')
Rafael Santos Moreira (Rafa Smor). Him and his 'friend' Ricardo were supposed to go to London for an English course. However, Rafa wants to participate in CAOSS before going to college, so it's his last opportunity to do so. He loves surfing since he was a young kid and practices during vacations.
Bernardo de Souza (Billy). He started surfing behind his mother's back to impress the girls, but ended up enjoying it. He goes every summer to visit his aunt with his mom, but is tired of her overprotective nature, so he uses his savings to book an hotel and manages to convince his mom of allowing him to stay there as long as he visits them every day to eat together and answers to her calls.
João Joilton Mineiro (Jojó). He lives near Itacaré in his family's farm and often went to surf with his friends and cousins. He was supposed to work in the farm, but his girlfriend's family invited him to join them in their summer vacation to the beach and he couldn't say no.
Lurdes Maria (Lurdinha). She's Jojó's girlfriend. Not much to say about her, in the series she's really controlling and crazy, but I want to change that. She can be a controlling girlfriend and a normal human being.
A Dream in the Waves (ADITW) Characters Reference - Red Sharks
Sebastián López (Seba). Raised by his father, famous surfer and owner of the Red Sharks team, Gary López, he's been surfing from a young age with access to the best coaching and equipment available. He's always felt the need to prove his worth to both his father and his teammates as he wants to show he deserves his spot on the team.
Marcelo Mahla. He's a naturally gifted and confident surfer, he's always been aware of his talent, which reflects in his cocky attitude. He's determined to prove himself as the best surfer, not just in the team, but also in the entire competitve surfing world.
Mario de Lima (Minhoca). He comes from a family of fishers and got a spot in the team because he's really talented, but he had never seen surfing as a competitive sport. He's shy, but tries to be friends with Mahla and Seba, who don't see him as worthy. He's childhood friends with Brida and often helps around Mrs. Jumma's restaurant.
Pigmeu. As the Red Sharks' trainer in the 2017 championship, he's strict and wants to push the boys to their limits so they become better surfers and win. He had been a great surfer, but never made it as big as he had wanted, however, he was offered by Gary to train his surfing team and he couldn't say no to the opportunity. Gary keeps asking him for better results.
Gary López. He started the team when his son showed interest in surfing so he could compete in the best team. He values results and wants the Red Sharks to win, placing all his expectations upong his son.
A Dream in the Waves (ADITW) Characters Reference - Sirens
Leilane Villanova. She's sporty and really passionate about surfing, she tries to avoid being girly to be taken seriously in surf. At the beginning, she's dating Mahla, they both enjoy surfing, but don't have many things in common.
Viviane Leme. She's very feminine, but also a great sportswoman. She has a crush on Seba and tries to get closer to him. She loves photos and wants to become an influencer.
Brida Januário. She helps around her mother's restaurant (Pico) and is childhood friends with Minhoca. Brida doesn't mind about liking "girly" things and often acts as the peacemaker between Viv and Leilane.
I think they don't have a trainer during the 2017 championship (they first competed in 2016, so it's their second year), so Leilane is their leader/trainer, Viviane is in charge of their social media and Brida helps them with food and manages sponsors.
Their main goal is winning the competition.
A Dream in the Waves (ADITW)
Story set on the summer of 2017, during the annual super surf wave championship (CAOSS) in Brazil.
Unilke in Disney Juacas, the story will focus less on the Juacas team, showing more about what's going on with the Red Sharks and the Sirens (not me actually focusing on the Red Sharks).
Sebastián López becomes the Red Sharks team leader. He expects to be a worthy member and leader, as well as making his dad proud, but his teammates (and himself) don't help at all.
As the CAOSS tournament comes closer, tensions rise in the Red Sharks team: Seba and Mahla's rivalry intensifies, while Minhoca feels like an outsider among them.
Team 'Anything' is created (on the last day of inscriptions) and joins CAOSS.
Brida and Billy get along like a house on fire from the first day, while Rafa gets interested in Leilane, but she has a boyfriend.
Team 'Anything' finds Professor Juaca (Augusto Kameha), who doesn't want to hear a word about surfing (and maybe they remind him of the original Juacas team).
Professor Juaca reflects on his son's death and his team.
Jojó and his girlfriend share a moment.
Professor Juaca and Gary meet again for the first time since 2001 and both have mixed feelings about it.
Gary López values results and wants the Red Sharks to win. He places all his expectations upon his son Sebastián, but Marcelo soon starts standing out during training (and doesn't that remind him of his first CAOSS team?). Gary keeps comparing them, which frustrates Sebastián.
As the tournament approaches, Gary puts even more pressure on Seba to win and become a better captain. Mahla, on the other hand, doubts Seba's leadership skills and wishes to be the captain himself. Their encounters are marked by cold glares and a mutual disdain that affects the whole team.
Feeling forced by his father to win and threatened by Mahla's presence in the team, Sebastián gets distracted and loses some important points in the tournament.
After Mahla's impressive performance, Gary and Pigmeu decide he'll be the new captain of the team. Seba feels like a failure and Mahla's teasing increases.
After a training session, Seba and Minhoca have a heart-to-heart conversation, learning more about each other's backgrounds and struggles. They start to bond and they become more understanding and supportive of each other.
Mahla is happy he's the new captain, but Leilane breaks up with him. He gets upset and goes to the beach to steam off. He gets on the water to surf, but the current drags him and he's unable to get out. Rafa is the one who sees him and helps him out. They talk a bit and Mahla stops being too mean to Rafa.
After he returns, he's still mad, but is happy he didn't drown (that kind of accidents aren't new to anyone).
Mahla reflects on his past actions and attitude, realizing that he has been arrogant and selfish. He decides to become a better person, not just to get Leilane back but also for the rest of the team.
Gary decides to name Seba the captain once again.
The Red Sharks reach the finals of the tournament, but the Sirenas prove to be too strong and win, becoming the first all-female team to do so. The girls invite all their friends to celebrate their victory.
Gary blames Seba for the lose, arguing that, as the captain, he's responsible for the failure.
Original Juacas Team Reference - Pt. 2
In 2001, they go to the Super Waves Tournament as defending champions (they won in 1996, 1999 and 2000).
Marcondes dies during one of their training sessions, he's 24 years old. The team retires from the competition after that.
Professor Juaca stops talking to Cezinha and Gary and leaves them on their own.
Cezinha and Gary have a huge fight about the team's future and stop talking to each other.
Cezinha returns to his home, Itacaré (where CAOSS is held) and his family and friends try to help him cheer up.
It takes a lot of convincing, but after some months, he starts a radio station (Radio Maral), where he narrates CAOSS and talks about surf (but he doesn't surf anymore).
Gary, on the other hand, joins another team. He had left everything behind for Juacas and now he had nothing left, so he had to rebuild himself.
He pushes himself to training as hard as possible and becomes an even better surfer, but doesn't get along with his teammates (he doesn't want friends). He becomes a successful surfer and his manager gets him to start his own line of surfing products, which he later extends to a surfing team.
Original Juacas Team Reference - Pt. 1
I need to think of a better name for the story (open to ideas)
In the summer of 1994, the original Juacas team (Marcondes, Cezinha and Gary) compete in CAOSS for the first time.
The team is called 'Juacas' after three times champion of CAOSS and surfing legend, Augusto 'Juaca' Kameha, who is Marcondes' father and team trainer.
Juacas win CAOSS from 1994 to 1996, then they move to professional surfing at the Super Waves Tournament (SWT).
Gary receives his nickname 'o tubarão vermelho' ('Red Shark' in English) during the 1995 championship because of his red hair.
Juventus (Marco)
Amo los personajes secundarios infravalorados. So have some Juve boys.
(Me gusta sobreanalizar personajes, permiso)
Y bueno, Dante es Dante, qué se yo
¿Ustedes qué opinan?
