The natural enemy of Celestials, Infernals come straight from the depths of hell. Unlike Celestials, who are duty-bound to protect their charges, demons often come to Earth due to the boredom that plagues them in the underworld. Demons must be summoned by a spellcaster and successfully break their protection circle in order to join the world of the living. For that reason, only low-power demons are successful in leaving the underworld, as spellcasters are not typically strong enough to summon a greater demon, though there have been some exceptions which have always ended in tragedy.
Lower-level demons who typically act on behalf of greater demons, Imps are the ones who grant black witches with their magic. Imps are lively and grow bored easily, often looking for mischief to keep them entertained. They are fond of pranks and misleading people, as well as causing distress.
While Imps are not immortal, they are immune to mortal sicknesses, disease, and injury. They can be killed with powerful magic, or eventually pass on when their boredom tires them to death. Typically, Imps live for around 200-300 years. They can eat and drink human food, and require sleep to restore their energy.
Imps are servants created by greater demons and cannot reproduce.
In their true form, Imps are small in stature and with large ears and often animal features such as antlers or hooves. In the living world they take on a human form, though they are usually still quite short. Abilities
The most important power of an Imp is the ability to bestow magic on a mortal who provides it with a sacrifice. They are shapeshifters, able to take the form of anything they desire. This is how they go unrecognized on the human plane. Imps often cause electromagnetic interference, disrupting electronics in their presence. They are stronger than mortals and possess better senses.
Imps love to interact with anyone they feel like they can trick. They gather in places like bars and clubs, where you can often get away with anything. Imps on the mortal plane are often partiers and adrenaline junkies, anything to escape the tediousness of ordinary life.
An Imp can be banished from the living world by witches, though the spell is quite complicated and often requires a strong coven.
The most harmless of demons, sprites are tied to the elements. They often come to the living plane to have a stronger bond to their element and to have more energy. They are typically friendly, but are often discriminated against for being demons. They prefer to stay in nature, where they can feel close to their element. Often, they may assist white witches with finding herbs and ingredients.
While Sprites are not immortal, they are immune to mortal sicknesses, disease, and injury. They can be killed with powerful magic, or if they are separated from their element for too long. Typically, Sprites live for around 100 years. This shortened lifespan is due to them being hunted down, as they are the easiest demons to kill. They can eat and drink human food, and require sleep to restore their energy.
Sprites cannot reproduce.
In their true form, sprites are nothing more than a wisp made up of particles from their element.
Sprites have the ability to take on a human form as long as they are close to their element to draw power from it. The farther from their element they get, the less corporeal they become.
Sprites maintain control of their affiliated element, meaning that they have a large variance in powers. They are all stronger than humans and have stronger senses. Fire sprites practice pyromancy, while water sprites control the waves, air sprites the wind, and earth sprites everything that grows from the ground. When sprites work together, they can create terrible storms and destruction. This is an extremely rare occurrence, as sprites are traditionally non-violent.
Due to a lifetime of discrimination, sprites can be rather lonesome and shy. They are careful in who they befriend, traditionally keeping small circles. Water sprites and sirens tend to get along well, as do earth sprites and white witches. Sprites do not affiliate with other demons, angry that their actions have caused their kind to be hunted down.
Succubi, the female form, and Incubi, the male, although in modern times most are called succubus as female succubi are more common, are demons who seek to seduce mortals. Succubi have many mortal qualities that other Infernal do not, which has led to them being disregarded in the underworld which drives many of them to the world of the living. It is rumored that the first succubi was a spellcaster cursed by a greater demon and that succubi are actually half-breeds.
Succubi are not immortal, though they do have extremely long lifespans. They traditionally live for about 150 years. A succubi can catch mortal illnesses, though they are rarely fatal. They can also be mortally injured, though they heal far faster than mortals.
Succubi can reproduce with mortals or other succubi. Children of two succubi have a 50% chance of being born a succubus, the other half is that they will be born completely human. Children of a succubi and a mortal have a 25% chance of being born a succubus. These low numbers have drastically decreased the number of succubi in existence, and partially explains their desperation to mate.
Newborn Succubi age 5 times faster than mortals, but they can choose when to halt the aging of their appearance.
In their true form, Succubi have ram-like horns atop their head, long-pointed fingernails, and fangs. However, even in this form, they are described as beautiful. Succubi are able to disguise their abnormal features with a glamour, appearing completely human to whoever views them. Glamours do not work on Celestials or Infernals.
In addition to their ability to glamour their features, Succubi also have the power of compulsion. This is used when they seduce mortals, though it is often not required. Succubi whisper to their victim, beckoning them to come with them. Compulsion is only effective about 75% of the time and must be agreed to by all rp parties. Succubi can also visit the dreams of their victims if they have touched them in person.
Succubi are very social creatures, primarily to find their next mate. They do not get along with their own kind, as they often find themselves fighting for victims. Succubi who reproduce abandon their mortal children almost always, with very few having the empathy to raise a human child. Succubi who are lucky enough to birth a succubi child are often very attentive parents.
