Uh, I guess this intro post thing is long overdue.
Name: ash, I guess? (not my real name but it's the name I go by on ao3 so I should probably try to maintain cohesion)
Pronouns: she/they/whatever man idk, it's a whole thing
Not on many other socials but I'm ash_like_the_tree on AO3 and hilsonisrealtrustme on Pinterest, because apparently I'm incapable of continuity.
My interests include:
Shoot From The Hip (as is likely apparent from the current theme of this blog)
My favourite longforms are: Beetroots & Murder, Strange Noises From The Hole In The Wall, The Off-Season, We Love Poetry, Jack the Stripper, Jazz Vampires, and Ginny's Wild Adventure (subject to change)
With honourable mention to The Unrelenting Aubergine, Never Give Annabelle a Gun, The Glass Eye, We Buried The Wrong Guy, and Were-Cowboys? and the best scenes of all time - Thirsty Vamps and Reginald Filibus ("Was there always a closet there?")
Basically, I'm incredibly indecisive. And that wasn't even the full list.
I also looove Roll From The Hip, I think I prefer Plagueround over Lock Stock although they're both really good. Monty is my favourite character in Plagueround but I love all my brave boys. Hexmaster Singh apologist! Also I'm a little in love with Sergeant Lewis, she intimidates me greatly in the best way
BBC Ghosts
My favourite character is definitely the Captain, closely followed by Fanny. Still haven't recovered from Carpe Diem💔
Bodies
Oh my god, this show is underrated. I only found it because I saw Measure for Measure in Stratford-Upon-Avon, became briefly fixated on Tom Mothersdale (who played Angelo), and was desperately trying to find anything else to watch him in. Gabriel Defoe my child you got your happy ending in my heart
Inside No 9 (and League of Gentlemen)
Haven't watched a lot of No 9 episodes recently but rn my favourites are: Tom and Gerri, The Stakeout, How Do You Plead, Wise Owl, The Last Weekend, and Mulberry Close. Learning that Reece was going to be in Taskmaster almost made me combust.
With special mention to Thinking Out Loud for being surprisingly shit in comparison to an overall excellent show💔
Uhhhhh I also haven't watched TLOG in a while but I can remember that I love Judee Levinson, Mr Chinnery, and the subplot of Legz Akimbo. Ollie Plimsolls my pookie why is your defining character trait a burning hatred of lesbians😭
Our Flag Means Death
One of my first ventures into fandom discourse on this site was a...rather heated discussion with someone who accused me of being racist/homophobic/whatever else just because I said Izzy was my favourite character. I actually found OFMD through Taika's movie Jojo Rabbit, which has been my favourite movie ever for years. Besides Izzy I'm also slightly in love with Zheng Yi Sao because she's wonderful and perfect
Taskmaster (and assorted British panel shows)
Very much my style of humour in a lot of aspects, I have a soft spot for Would I Lie to You? for basically introducing me to the concepts of comedy/comedians aged around 8.
Hozier
I love music and I listen to most genres but my favourite artist is Hozier and has been for years. I listen to him (and music in general) possibly too much tbh. Apart from Hozier I also like: Bo Burnham (and his movie, Inside), Chappell Roan, MCR, Måneskin, idkHOW, Mad Tsai, Sofia Isella, and P!ATD (mostly a fever you can't sweat out). I generally tend to listen to whatever sounds good regardless of genre so I have quite a few miscellaneous favourite songs too. I also like quite a few musicals
Reading/Writing
I read a lot of books. At the moment it's mostly classics for English Lit (and for fun) but I have a few series I reread at least once a year for nostalgia, like Roman Mysteries, Murder Most Unladylike and A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (is it any surprise I have a particular interest in criminology and true crime now?). At the moment I'm reading A Hunger Artist by Kafka and Emma by Austen. One of my favourite books atm is Bitterthorn by Kat Dunn and I also love the Sherlock Holmes series (ask me about the BBC Sherlock series because boy do I have OPINIONS)
I also looove fanfics, both writing and reading em. Shameless self-plug, check out 'i'llI be damned if you love me (damned if you don't)'. And I have Plagueround thoughts bouncing around my skull also. Currently I'm reading 'Inevitable' by RectangularCanvas, a Jazz Vampires fic I'd definitely recommend!
Misc.
[this is an incomplete list for sure but it's all I can think of rn. i'll update as things occur to me]
I'm half good at painting, crocheting, and sewing, all self-taught, and I used to play piano but I had to quit because doing music at GCSE made me hate it. Uhhhh I'm running out of things to say. Used to do karate to about green belt but quit recently because I started having panic attacks in the middle of sessions (which is Not a great place to have them) and I've been part of a few theatre and drama clubs over the years.
