as with every album release, here is your regular reminder that it’s ok if you don’t buy the album, merch, vinyls, or any of the deluxe albums. if you are feeling guilty because you don’t have the funds to buy these things either right now or ever, I understand, but it’s totally ok. you are not less of a swiftie and you are not obligated to purchase anything and no one should make you feel lesser for it.

Ticketmaster’s elitist bullshit

Its very possible that no one will see this or care but I desperately need to express how fucked up this whole ticket master situation is; I just saw a post saying “don’t blame each other don’t blame Taylor blame the ticket resalers who took advantage of the presales” and just like...look. Bottom line is, no matter which way you spin it, Taylor’s lifestyle is immoral. She’s a millionaire, she has five houses, she spends more money on a shirt than I could scrape up for rent. Now, does that mean this Ticketmaster thing is directly her fault? Not necessarily. It does mean that she, her team, her empire has enough money that if she wanted to pay for all the verified fans to come to the show, she could. Someone else pointed out that buying concert tickets is a luxury item and said that if they can’t afford things it sucks but they just don’t buy them........this is exactly the type of thinking that perpetuates lower class oppression. What you’re saying here is that because we don’t need concerts to literally survive, only people with money deserve to go. But this is how capitalism needs us to think in order to thrive. I don’t think we should have to just accept the fact that we can’t go see our favorite artist in the world because we aren’t rich enough! It’s not actually each individuals fault they aren’t rich this is all a product of the larger system of late stage capitalism (specific to living in the USA) which is built to literally oppress us (lower classes) so the rich can stay in power. I love Taylor and I also think because she’s been so privileged her whole life that she has no idea what this does to us or what it looks like to have even remotely less money than she does. All in all, I feel like there is a LOT Taylor and her team could do to rectify this but I believe that they won’t because they’re focused on profit. Still. After all these years. After everyone in Taylor’s family and team is more than taken care of. They don’t need more money! They don’t need our money anywhere NEAR as badly as we need it! This shit is fucked and YES Taylor and her team are absolutely to blame. We have to hold Taylor accountable for her (perhaps inadvertent) classism. Being her fan doesn’t erase the very real class issues we face, and that are perpetuated by rich people like her trying to make a profit they don’t need. End rant.
