Biography
Bill Compton lived in Mystic Falls back when it was only a newly founded town. He was born into a low born family but he was a very happy man, he fell in love with a woman and had three wonderful children but unfortunately for Bill he was sent away to fight for his country in the war and had to leave his family behind. Terror and bloodshed was what awaited Bill as he fought for his country. The only thing that got him through it all was knowing he would be able to go back to his wife and children if he survived long enough. Bill was never a coward and he would do his duty to his country. He watched as certain men in his battalion went home like Damon Salvatore – a young boy from Mystic Falls, Bill was friendly with his father Giuseppe. Bill wouldn’t allow himself to be shamed like that and he fought gallantly to survive. Men were dying all around him and some were disappearing, there were rumours of an angel of death taking the men to the afterlife body and spirit but Bill never believed the rumors they were nought but silly tales. Bill didn’t realize that those tales had some truth. Bill was hit by a bullet while protecting his friend Teddy Forbes. Teddy made it away but Bill collapsed to the ground. His recollection of the ordeal was patchy but a beautiful woman came to him amidst the gunfire and offered him a chance to live. Bill thought of his family and agreed, this strange angel took him away and Bill blacked out in pain.
He awoke, frightened and covered in darkness, Bill fought his way to the surface confused by the cold earth that covered him. When he reached his destination he felt strange, his first instinct was to look for the gunshot wound but alas there wasn’t one to be found when he heard a giggle beside him. Bill looked at a woman sitting on the earth beside him smiling. It was she, the woman who came to him on the battlefield. She explained that her name was Katherine and she’d just saved his life because she’d been watching him and he deserved another chance but he would be the only one worthy of her turning. Bill was confused but he listened to what Katherine said as she explained what she’d done for him. Vampire, Bill had heard the term before, whispers in Mystic Falls of a race of creatures that fed on blood to survive and he knew that precautions had been set in place for them to be destroyed should they enter Mystic Falls. Bill realized that as a vampire he couldn’t go back and see his family. Anger for what the trickster had done to him filled Bill and he tried to attack her but his efforts were futile. She was too strong, because of his actions she decided that she didn’t want to help him anymore than she had, so she left him alone to come to terms with what he was…a monster.
Connections:
Stefan Salvatore: Bill found Stefan when Katherine abandoned him the way she’d done to Bill and he could see that Stefan needed guidance in the way of vampire because he had an issue with consuming blood. He has stayed Stefan’s companion since they were both turned and fled Mystic Falls.
Sookie Stackhouse: A curious young woman whose blood smells exceptional but Bill has learnt to stay on the Tru Blood to go mainstream since vampires came out in public. Sookie is fascinated with vampires and Bill is somewhat fascinated with her.
Damon Salvatore: Stefan’s brother and fellow troop with Bill in the war. Damon lost Bills respect when he returned home because of fear and once he discovered what Katherine had done to him and Stefan he decided it was better for Damon to be alone. Bill doesn’t much like Damon and these feelings aren’t likely to change any time soon.
