Quest: Train Them Right
She rolled her eyes at him. They were just wolves. She’d taken out wolves before. Okay, maybe not 50 wolves on her own once, but she got the feeling he was quite a few levels above 20, which meant this whole quest was going to be as easy as taking candy from a baby. Which was a stupid phrase now that she thought about it, because who actually let their babies have candy? No…this was not the time to be thinking about things like babies and candy. There were wolves that needed killing! “Sure, sure. Whatever you say, OAP.”Â
He did have a point though. A point that was made even more abundantly clear when she’d left herself open to attack from behind. Great, now his ego was probably even more inflated than it already was. Either way though, she shuffled backwards until they were more or less back to back. His attack was doing a good job of taking out quite a few wolves and she was not going to be shown up. She had two abilities she could choose from, and while she thought Battle Waltz was ideal for this moment, it wasn’t really a great attack to use when someone was standing right by her. Instead she sighed and muttered  ”Distortion Blades”.Â
There must’ve been 10 or so wolves facing her and she just nodded, not even bothering to feel scared or worried about the number. Instead as one leapt at her, she swiped the air with her daggers, immediately taking out the wolf with the airy blades generated by her ability. She repeated the action for the next three that came at her, but had to sidestep and stab the one that charged at her a little too quickly for her liking. “You okay back there Old man?”Â
"Fine, how are you doing?" Theseus called in reply, slashing at the wolves as quickly and efficiently as he possibly could. They seemed to come in endless numbers, which was slightly troubling - he wasn't sure they would really just stop after they'd managed to kill fifty of them and he was still half concerned with ensuring Tempest's safety. He felt an odd sort of protective instinct towards the younger player, even if she did annoy him with that God awful nickname of hers, but he could deal with that, he had younger siblings and they had had the same sort of relationship when he'd lived at home with his parents in the real world. Sometimes even afterwards.Â
He shook his head sharply, he was getting distracted and fuck. He grunted sharply as a wolf tore into his forearm, "Fuck." He swore under his breath and stabbed the animal hurriedly, "Damn it." He muttered, tearing off a piece of his shirt to wrap around the wound temporarily. "How many more d'ya think?" He called, now it was important for him to pay attention. No way he was croaking because of some God forsaken fur ball.
A few here and there. Sometimes its a bit tricky to find people to join you but the adventures are worth it. You?
Got roped in to going on one a couple days ago, yeah. That was pretty interesting. Best time to ask is when I'm not expecting it apparently. I can't refuse then.
I haven’t seen anything yet, but I have no doubt that some people believe that killing is all right.
Well, of course. There's always going to be people that think like that, it happens, but it's not everyone. And you don't have to kill anyone in here.
Killing…
Ah, right... I doubt that's a selling point for anyone.
Glad to hear my hero is fairing well. All things considered? I’m not too shabby
Well, I'm glad to hear it, Princess. Gone on any interesting quests lately?
It is…  Well, at first it was nice, but I don’t want to do certain things here..
Certain things... like, the quests and what not?
Strangers can be frightening. Well.. the unknown is frightening really.Â
You make an excellent point. You must not like it here very much? It's all probably frightening...Â
Hercules! How are you?
I'm... actually doing very well, and how are you, your majesty?
My name is Trita… I was given a bow and a quiver of arrows… Yeah…
I… uh.. I guess that’s it…
It's a pleasure, Trita. Am I still frightening you? I apologize, I'm really not scary. I promise.
Its been a little. How is everyone?
Hello to you, Princess.
A-ah… I-is that so…Well…It’s…a little rude to ask without sharing a little about yourself..
Well, around here, people call me Theseus. I wield a sword... I can be terribly impatient, I have a sometimes ridiculous level of curiosity... That's about it, really.
Y-you are certainly bigger than me and I know assumptions are terrible, but you, well, you do seem tougher and more intimidating than me…Â
I promise you, dear, I'm not as scary as I look. What d'you call yourself?
Flowers…I.. I don’t know if you can help though. You don’t, uh, don’t seem like the type who are into them.Â
Ah, and you assume I'm the big, scary, tough guy type or something? I'm also the extremely helpful to a weird degree type, so I can help, if you need it.
Hello…everyone… I…uhm, well, I need some help with something…
Help with what, stranger?
Quest: Train Them Right
She’d definitely caught him off guard and that had worked to her advantage. He sounded unsure but he still said yes and that was the only answer she really needed from him. “Awesome. Let’s go then.” She was still not so used to this whole company thing but the sooner they left, the sooner they could fight these wolves and be on their merry little way. Which brought her to her next annoyance of the day. It just had to be wolves didn’t it? It couldn’t have been 50 bears, or 50 foxes. Nope it had to be wolves. At least she could imagine her brother’s stupid face every time she killed one. That would get rid of some of her pent up aggression hopefully.
Tempest shrugged and looked up at him with a sheepish look on her face. She’d never really been one to plan, and this time was not exception. “Not sure, I figured I’d take the quest on and then go to the forest and they’d just appear. Let’s just hope okay.” She said, skipping off ahead. She knew the woods surrounding Aantyl like the back of her hand by now so she wasn’t too bothered with paying attention to her surroundings. It wasn’t like she had a specific destination in mind, so she figured they’d wander around until they found some wolves.Â
Right on cue, she heard some growling coming from the right and managed to dodge as something wolf shaped jumped out of the bushes. “See! Wolves! And you doubted me, old man!” She pulled her daggers out and scanned their surroundings. They weren’t quite surrounded but at least 5 wolves had appeared from nowhere and she only expected that number to rise. “So uhm…I’ve got the ones on this side and you got the ones on your side okay?” Tempest didn’t wait for an answer though, as she darted forward, ready to kill some wolves.
"Old man...?" Theseus grumbled and drew his sword with a frown, he doubted he would need to use any serious abilities in this case, but with Tempest having such a level difference, he wasn't sure if he needed to help her out or anything of the sort. He didn't want the kid to get hurt or anything, after all. For the time being, however, he focused on the wolves that were currently trying to tear his throat out; diving away from one as he thrust his sword through the belly of another and peered around them at the ever growing crowd of wild animals that was surrounding them.Â
"Temp..." He called out lowly, "Back to back might be a good idea." He announced, turning sharply to skewer a wolf that had charged for the girl's exposed back when she'd turned away from him. He wasn't going to let either of them get hurt, so it looked as though teamwork was going to be a vital component of this asinine quest and that was perfectly fine with him - as long as Tempest wasn't too stubborn to go along with it.
He growled as the wolves circled around them, snarling and snapping at them before he thrust his hand out with a short call of, "Belve." He huffed out a sharp breath as the explosions started and watched carefully as more of the animals started to slink back into view from the smoke. Persistent little shits, weren't they?
Congratulations! You have earned enough experience points to jump to level 31.
